There's something that's been bothering me for awhile and I just had no
idea how to do it. Other than my outfits, I feel as if I keep
everything else private. I try not to use my blog as an online journal
because I like to stay positive and focused on things that make me
happy. So in an effort to let you in, I'm going to give you five facts
that you probably didn't know about me:
Paczki and me in 2011 (I was blonde!) |
1. I'm extremely claustrophobic. I get crazy anxiety over being in an airplane too long, being at a concert in a big crowd, or even being underwater. I have no idea why I'm like this, but it actually makes my heart race just writing about it! While I love going to shows, I never have a general admission ticket. If possible, I need my own seat. If not (Fiona Apple for instance), I will enjoy the show all the way in the back to avoid the feeling of being crushed. If I go to the movies, I always have a seat at the end. Thankfully there are a few theaters here in LA that have assigned seating so I make sure I'm always on the end. It's crazy, I know, but I go through these crazy rituals to feel comfortable.
2.
I grew up in a Spanish speaking household. My mother immigrated here
from Argentina and my father is a first generation American. They are
both bilingual and when I was young, so was I. I can understand it
completely but I get really shy when I actually have to speak Spanish. Which comes to my next fact...
3.
I'm terribly shy! I was really shy as a kid. I think I came out of my
shell at about 14, but went back in about ten years later. I used to
be the life of the party, dance like nobody was watching, and make
friends with strangers everyday. I wish I knew what changed. Don't get
me wrong, I still like to have fun and make friends, it just seems like
it's harder for me now.
4.
I bruise easier than a ripe banana! I tend to be clumsy as well so
it's a bad combination. I can't remember the last time my body was
bruise free. My legs and arms seem to bruise the easiest. I often
wonder if people think I'm a cage fighter?
5.
I'm allergic to bananas. Some would find this disappointing but I'm
not the biggest fan of fruit to begin with. I love vegetables but hate
most fruit. My only exception is melon. I can't resist a cantaloupe!
There you have it! I hope you feel like you've gotten to know me a
little better. I'd love to hear an interesting fact about you too.
Happy Friday!
xoxo
Ashley
I totally understand your shell. But no one I knew thought I was in one. Mine was more internal. I had an outside persona that was nothing like the real me. Now that I'm old I just don't care what others think so I'm out. For good. I applaud your sharing. By the way, your claustrophobia is another thing I understand. It doesn't bother me most of the time but once in a while.......

ReplyDeleteOh wow, you look so different with blonde hair!! What did you prefer? I'm a natural blonde, but I thought about making my hair darker, but well, I can't decide...
ReplyDeleteAnd it was so lovely to read this post, I love to get to know more about bloggers, but I can totally understand that you want to keep most things private! I'm like you with this. But as I have been reading your blog now for quite some time (and kept it also kind of private as I've never commented before I think...), I must say that I really love your outfits, so feminine and wonderful!

whoahoa blonde you! you look completely different - still amazing but it's very different on you. i love how you made all your facts build off each other. i bruise easily too - to a point wher ei dont know where most of my bruises come from. and allergic to bananas - sad face! food allergies are the worst.

love the blonde with the red lips awesome and great info love it!
ReplyDeleteYou look SO DIFFERENT as a blonde. Like I wouldn't even guess that was the same person. And I loved reading your little fast facts, I definitely feel like I know you so much better now. I would have never guessed you were Argentinian, and I can totally relate with you on the shy thing. I feel like my first two years of college i was super brazen and loud, and now all of a sudden I'm pretty quiet and shy. I have no idea what switched over either. Hmmm
ReplyDeleteI love reading facts about other bloggers! You definitely look very different with the blonde hair, of course still beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI am super claustrophobic too!! I always try to get the aisle seat on planes and movie theaters. But a couple years ago I started having to have cardiac MRI's, so you are wedged in a tiny tube for about an hour holding breath and releasing it, I got some relaxation techniques from my behavioural therapy proff and they helped immensely, along with "practicing" being in small spaces, like forcing myself to take elevators all the time
Thats so crazy that you're allergic to bananas yet bruise like a ripe one ;) Great post!!

I'm so jealous that you grew up in a bilingual household. Even if you're not comfortable speaking it, I think it makes you more worldly (something I'm constantly chasing myself!)

I love these facts. It's little tidbits like this that make a blog so much more personal and human. When it comes to being shy I'm pretty bipolar. Either I'm quiet or I'm incredibly loud. :P

Aw, I'm so glad you shared this! I would have never guessed that you're a shy person, you always look so confident in your photos! And I can't believe how different you look with blonde hair. You seriously pull off every color. It was a pleasure getting to know you better :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing some fact about yourself, happy to get to know you better! I too am claustrophobic! Love your cute photo with your adorable doggie!

Idk if my comment went through the first time or not so ill try again!
ReplyDeleteI loved reading these and getting to know you! :) we have a couple things in common. I get anxiety, not claustrophobia but I worry a lot about silly things. Also im shy too! I was deathly shy as a child. I feel like I've made a ton of progress since then but I still feel awkward around new people.

I love you as a blonde so much. This picture is cute and this is a really nice post. I've always admired how you post so privately -- other than your job and your engagement -- we really get nothing about you. I wish I was a bit more like that. Your family seems really cool too and you totally don't seem like a shy girl at all. That surprised me.
ReplyDeleteaww that picture is so pretty! The blonde looks so nice on you.
ReplyDeleteYou shouldn't be ashamed to speak Spanish...it's such a beautiful language. But do definitely understand, because I speak it too. I just shy up to when it comes to someone just wanting to hear it.

It's great getting to know you! While bad stuff happens to us all, you can still talk about it and remain positive...Anyhow, I didn't know you were Argentinian...Also, you need to send me a button, girlfriend because you won my contest! -Jessica L
ReplyDeleteAhhhh I didn't recognize you...wow you look very different as a blonde. Hablas espanol? I speak broken spanish...but I try my best. :-)
ReplyDeleteI LOVED hearing more about your w/ this post. & you did a great job in sharing just short facts so we learned about you but it wasn't a negative post at all. i tend to over share a lot on my blog so maybe i'll have to try this more! that sounds really awful about the claustrophobia though, esp for the travel (for me anyway) & swimming... crazy. I used to be deathly shy as a child too and got less shy every year in high school until most would have thought i wasn't senior yr but def sometimes think I've digressed a bit too. and hey, it's never too late to practice Spanish : ) my dad's father is a german immigrant so Spanish seems completely unrelated but he took it up as a mid life crisis and is completely fluent now. that's awesome your mom is from Argentina though, and i bet growing up aroudn Spanish you'd pick up speakign in a heartbeat, you'll be surpised how you don't really forget languages.

Awww, how nice to know more about you!!
ReplyDeleteOn the first fact I can totally relate! I tend to get anxious in big crowds also!! How amazing to know that you have argentine roots! (I would loooove to go to Argetina!) And also can understand and speak fluent spanish! Maybe next time I would leave a comment in spanish hahaha =P

Aww Ashley I loved this post! So fun getting to know more about the bloggers you read and see pictures of on the daily! I have to say, you chose some pretty interesting tidbits too! I had no clue you grew up speaking Spanish, that is so cool! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeletep.s. Seriously, you look amazing in every hair color!
you just remind me with Paris Hilton :P

That is so cute about how shy you are even with speaking Spanish when you know it so perfectly. You looked cute blonde too! You might be anemic since you bruise so easily. I am anemic and bruise too easily. Perhaps you could look into that to see for sure (since there is more than just bruising involved with symptoms of anemia, like dizziness. . .I get faint a lot). I'm allergic to fruit! I don't know what bananas taste like even other than those banana flavored jellybeans and such.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, it was really great to get to know you more!!!
