Family Day

Today I went to my dad's to enjoy some ribs and see my family.  While we all live within 40 miles of each other, it can get complicated trying to get together all at once.  We were still missing a few people, but it was fun regardless :)

Kevin in front of the camera for once!
 My brother Andrew.
My brother, his girlfriend, and my step sister.
 My dad and stepmom :).
Alayna showing off her super cute outfit!
Michael and Paczki with their hoods on.
They're both trying to look tough!
 He loves his massages!
Me (probably playing Hanging With Friends).

It was a nice end to a great weekend.  Now I just have to mentally prepare for another busy work week!

Tulips

I guess I've been really into red lately because something inspired me to wear this scalloped dress.  I bought it from Modcloth a long time ago and it hasn't really seen the light of day since.  But I really love the textures and the tulip-like skirt it has.  Sometimes it takes awhile to fall in love with an item of clothing!

Dress- Modcloth
Tights- H&M
Shoes- Lulu's
Ring- Forever 21
Necklace- Gift from my grandmother

So happy for the great weather this weekend.  Hope you all are enjoying it!

Red Red Red

Who doesn't love a great red lip?  A friend of mine recently asked me about my favorite red lipstick.  While there are many out there, it can be difficult to pick just one.  Some look great when applied, but fade quickly.  I hate it when my lipstick can't last past one meal!  And who wants to worry about reapplying during a night out?  I have found a way to master the long lasting red lip and I'm going to show you how to do it!

What you will need:

- Sugar Lip Polish by Fresh
-YSL Rouge Pur Couture in #1 by Yves Saint Laurent

Okay, so I started out with the lip polish to exfoliate my chapped lips.  If you don't have this problem you can skip this step.  It's basically brown sugar that you rub on your lips to take any dead skin away.  It's fabulous and tastes yummy (yes, I do eat the excess off my lips sometimes)!  So right now I look like this:

Then I put on the lip primer to fill in any lines I may have.  It's great because it helps with grooves created by chapped lips but also allows the lipstick to adhere to the primer, not your lips.  It feels natural and isn't a pain to take off!

Next I line my lips with the lip pencil.  This kind of gives me a grid so I maintain "coloring within the lines".  I also color my entire lips with the pencil.  I think it lets your lipstick last longer when you have an undercoat of red on.  Try not to get too close to the inside of your mouth though, this will cause those nasty streaks of red on your teeth!

And last, add your lipstick.  This YSL color is great because it has the perfect amount of shine to it.  No top gloss necessary!  And here is the finished product:

Hope this tutorial helps!  If you have any questions feel free to ask below or send me an email.

Zara

Today I was happy to have enough time to check out the new Zara collection.  Zara is an amazing store with great staple items and flattering cuts.  They also have some really hot guys clothes!  I am completely obsessed with a few of their new items.  Here are my favorites:

I need this blazer!

 Such a great LBD.

 Love the keyhole opening.

And my favorite men's items:

 I love the grey!

 Simple but so sexy!

I love a nice striped cardigan.

I can't wait to go out and try some of this stuff on.  I think that blazer and the black dress will be in my closet very soon :)

Sunset

These shots were taken just as the sun was setting.  I really love the vintage dress I bought from Sui Generis Vintage and the black velvet platforms I've had for a few years matched the dress perfectly.  The pattern is so colorful and I pretty much want any dress that has pockets!

Braided belt- Urban Outfitters
Black velvet platforms- Steve Madden
Bow ring- Forever 21
Bangles- Forever 21
Lipstick- NARS Turkish Delight

It's supposed to rain tomorrow so I'm glad I had the chance to wear a pretty dress today.  If any of you readers have a favorite vintage shop, let me know!

Ruffled Up

A few days ago my boyfriend and I went to a charity event which means I got to play dress up :).  Since it is technically winter all my dresses or skirts are matched with a pair of tights.  I love how textured tights are in style these days because you can find them everywhere.  Between Forever 21 and H&M I've pretty much cleaned out their inventory!  I'm a huge fan of black and red (as you can see here) and I chose a black 3/4 sleeve blazer with a black top and a great red ruffled skirt.  I thought the texture of the tights really brought the whole outfit together and the blue suede shoes added an extra pop of color.

Blazer- Forever 21
Kimichi Blue top- Urban Outfitters
Ruffle skirt- H&M
Tights- Forever 21
Shoes- Steve Madden
Jeweled heart ring- Forever 21
Lipstick- Urban Decay Super Saturated gloss in Crush

This outfit was perfect for the evening because it was comfortable and cute.  I think it's kind of hard to pull that off (especially when wearing heels) so I consider it quite the accomplishment!  Now off to enjoy the weekend...
