What's On My Radar: Current Loves

This has been a pretty big month for my closet (lots of unicorn additions!) but there's always a few things striking my fancy.  Can you blame me?!  As always, it's about fun colors, bold prints, and unique details.  Here are my picks this month:

Pinup Girl Clothing
1. Charlotte dress in Jade
2. Little Jun Jacket in Pale Rose Pink
3. Little Jun skirt in Pale Rose Pink
4. Jennifer Petticoat in Dusty Rose
5. Paige the Prancing Poodle Brooch

I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Little Jun set!  I love the cropped jacket and the skirt is to die for.  I may even get it in all three colors...

Anastasia Beverly Hills
1. Pure Hollywood
2. Craft
3. Trust Issues
4. Unicorn
5. Carina

These happen to be my current favorites in my Liquid Lipstick collection.  I love the bold pigmented colors and its all day wear.  Plus, I can kiss my husband and daughter without any worries!

1. Cutout Front Polka Dot Knit Dress
2. Eleora Dress
3. Bow Tie Back Woven Ikat Check Dress
4. Cutout Front Poplin A-Line Midi Dress
5. Dot Embellished Banded Waist Poplin Dress

Eshaki is on their last day of their 50% off sale so here are my favorites!  I'm all about that green midi dress, the keyhole opening under the bust is just perfect!

Unique Vintage
1. White Eyelet Golightly Dress
2. Flower Cart Swing Dress
3. Navy and White Polka Dot Golightly Dress
4. Red and White Berry Halter Playsuit
5. Tiki Dreamer Aloha Swing Dress

Not only does Unique Vintage carry some wonderful dress brands (including their own), they're also having a HUGE 50% off swim sale right now!  Just use the code swim50 on their selected suits :).

Summer Bouquet

Heart of Haute Mercedes dress in Bouquet Print

Have you ever felt like a certain dress/style represents you?  I tend to dabble in a lot of different styles (I have an inner goth that likes to make appearances from time to time), but a nice fit and flare dress with a colorful print really speaks to me.  My closet is slowly starting to accumulate some solids, but it's basically like an explosion of prints and color in there.  Heart of Haute dresses really "get" me and this Mercedes dress is no exception!

Tiki Dreams

Pinup Girl Clothing Jenny skirt in Tiki print

I can finally cry from happiness!  This Jenny skirt in tiki print has been a "unicorn" of mine for what seems like a lifetime.  I had recently obtained this print in dress form, but since I've extended my wardrobe into separates, I actually prefer the skirt.  It took a lot of time and one sweet PUG fan who was willing to trade to make my dreams come true.  I have about three or four unicorns left and I'm hoping one day my closet will be complete.  That is, if no other unicorns appear haha!

Darling Dee Dee

Pinup Girl Clothing Dee Dee Dress in Grey and Baby Blue Gingham

It's finally here!  I'm pretty sure I was the first person to wait list for this Dee Dee dress months ago because it was the dress of my dreams.  I just couldn't imagine a more perfect dress for summer.  The fact that it's part of the Junebugs and Georgia Peaches collection just made it that much more desirable.  Now it's a part of my carefully curated closet and I couldn't be happier.

Doilie Aqua

Heart of Haute Monique dress in Doilie Aqua print

I've been having a busy but wonderful week with Bianca.  We've been pretty much inseparable until today (I'm working at the office) and she's been such a sweet little angel.  I'm so thankful that I've been given this calm, loving, patient little lady and I'm lucky to spend so much time with her.  Sometimes lugging a little child around is a lot more work than when it was just me, but she makes it as easy as it can be.  I don't think I could ever complain, she's just too good!

Bernie Dexter Loretta dress in Atomic Festival print

Talk about impeccable timing!  It had been raining all weekend and there happened to be a break in the downpour.  While I wasn't very motivated to go out and carry around my camera, my husband insisted I go while the weather was good.  I'm incredibly grateful for his suggestion because there was quite a storm right after I finished.  As much as I love the rain (California sure needs it), I never realized how much it affects my blog!

Pinup Girl Clothing Doris skirt in parrot print

This is my very first Doris skirt.  I've usually passed right by them, only because I love the fullness of the Jenny so much.  Since I've been doing my best to work outside of my comfort zone, I took the plunge and purchased this skirt.  The print is so cute and summery, and I'm actually surprised I like this a-line silhouette so much.  Unlike the Jenny, I can wear this skirt without a petticoat or an underskirt which makes it incredibly comfortable.  We'll see if I make any more Doris skirt purchases, but I'll definitely be wearing this one on the regular!

Oriental Nights

Red Ruby Vintage set

I feel like this post is long overdue but I was having too much fun over the weekend.  For the first time in a long while, Kevin and I had the weekend to ourselves with no set plans (except for a family party).  We mostly ate terrible but yummy food, watched some bad tv, and enjoyed each others company with Bianca.  Time to get back to reality though, this week is filled with work, more birthday parties, and a girly date with a special blogging friend.  We're meeting today for lunch so make sure to follow me on Instagram to see what kind of shenanigans we get into!

Juicy Orange

Pinup Girl Clothing Peasant top in yellow Jenny skirt in Orange print

There was once a time where I didn't want this skirt.  I didn't really like it at all.  For one, I'm a mom and getting dirty is a very real possibility all the time.  White really isn't my friend.  I also happen to own an orange print dress, so I figured I was all set in the orange department.  That is, until I was dressed in this exact outfit for my first photo shoot with Pinup Girl.  At the time the yellow peasant top didn't even exist (and I was so excited to wear something so perfect) but I couldn't get over how beautiful this top/skirt combo was.  So I immediately purchased this skirt and patiently awaited the release of this peasant top.  I now wear both of these pieces, both together and separate, all the time.  They are easily one of my favorites.  Sometimes you need to be shown the potential of a garment... At least that's how it was for me!

Maggie May

Voodoo Vixen Maggie May dress

If you haven't noticed, I've been doing my best to get outside of my personal style comfort zone this year.  I'm playing with separates, wearing shorts, and incorporating wiggle dresses into my wardrobe.  I've been having so much fun experimenting with other styles and it feels kind of liberating to do something different.  It's like exercising a creative muscle that's been dormant for some time.  Without realizing it, I've become more comfortable in my body and I've come leaps and bounds from the lows I felt after I had Bianca.  Maybe it sounds dumb, but I'm really proud of myself!

Mermaid Lagoon

Pinup Girl Clothing Chartreuse Peasant top Laura Byrnes High Waist shorts

Yep, that's me.  In shorts.  I literally thought hell had to freeze over before I would wear shorts out in public.  I've always felt self conscious about my bottom half because it's quite bigger than the rest of my body.  But I'm really learning to embrace what I have and try new things.  These shorts are wonderful because the waist is nice and high, which is great for tucking in tops or wearing crop tops.  I also love the that the back of the waistband is elasticized, which means it won't gap or pucker when you sit down.  I actually purchased them in a couple of colors/prints, so expect to see more shorts here in the future!

Anchors Away!

Pinup Girl Clothing Renee dress in Navy Anchor print

You wouldn't be able to tell from these photos but it was raining!  92 degrees and raining, actually.  Overcast days are usually great for photography because you don't have to wait for the sun to go down.  But I do have a toddler so I had to get my timing was right.  Once we drove to the location and I started setting up my camera the rain settled in.  Instead of calling it a loss, I went ahead and pushed through.  It went mostly well, although I have a great amount of photos for a blooper reel!
