With spring on the horizon, I'm being forced to get ready for those warmer temperatures that last until October.  That means packing away my statement coats, cozy cardigans, and all my boots. I wanted to make sure I got a few more wears out of my favorite over the knee boots so I paired them with a gorgeous Selkie puff dress.  Selkie just released their Electric Ladies collection and this vintage inspired patchwork print was my favorite of the bunch!

The Patchouli Puff is made from several layers of organza and features a bandeau bust, empire waist, statement puff sleeves, and a back zippered closure.  I vary in size with Selkie dresses, but I usually order up when it's made from organza.  I can fit in either a small or medium in the puff but I chose a medium so I could get a little extra length in the skirt.  I know this print isn't like their usual pastels but I welcome the change!

The upcoming season has me feeling like I need to do some spring cleaning!  As a surprise to nobody, my closet is currently busting at the seams and I really need to go through it and let some things go.  While I love dressing up, I don't do it nearly as much anymore and I could probably do away with some things that haven't been worn in awhile.  Here's to hoping I get a free day to clean so I can free up some closet space for my husband!

Valentine's Day

 

Happy Valentine's Day!  While we all know this holiday is about celebrating love, my favorite part of this day is putting on a cute outfit, preparing a themed lunch for Bianca and giving her all the cute gifts.  My husband and I choose not to celebrate each other because we *just* celebrated our anniversary and his birthday is later this week.  It's a lot!  But I like to make it a big deal with Bianca and we always have the best time.  This year, my outfit is all about pink!  You know I love all things black and spooky but there's a large part of my heart that enjoys pastel colors and cute themed outfits too.  There's always room for both!

Everything I'm wearing here, with the exception of the brooch and backpack, are staples in my closet that I've worn for years.  I know it mostly feels like I share new things here and it's probably because I'm excited about wearing them!  But when I first started this blog I was obsessed with remixing outfits and showing you how to get the most wear from the pieces you already have.  In everyday life, I still remix my favorite pieces and this wrap dress is one of my absolute favorites.  Perfect for a day at Disneyland or a Galentine's Day brunch!  I topped it off with one of my favorite vintage hats and pink coats and instantly felt like a princess!

What's on the schedule for your Valentine's Day?  Bianca is going to school and my husband and I will be working, but tonight I'm going to cook a special filet mignon dinner (and a tofu steak for Bianca).  We will probably get something fancy for dessert and eat it in our pajamas on the couch.  Can you really ask for a better night?!

Strawberry Shortcake

 

Valentine's Day is just a few days away and I'm still not tired of dressing the part!  Unique Vintage teamed up with the Strawberry Shortcake team to create a fun collection that's perfect for the season of love!  I'm wearing their new babydoll dress and I can't wait to break it all down for you.  Read the review below!

This dress is made from a stiff yet comfortable cotton and features contrast puff sleeves and hem, a ruffled neckline, empire waistline, flirty mini skirt with side pockets, and a back zippered closure.  I'm wearing my usual size small and while it technically fits, it's incredibly short!  I probably would have sized up to a medium if I had known, but it was still workable.  I just wouldn't be able to wear it on a windy day.  I love the sweet Strawberry Shortcake print and the fact that this dress (and the rest of the collection) is available in sizes XS-4X.  You can shop the entire collection online HERE right now!

Sweet Heart Chocolate

 

I can't help but feel all the love when I'm wearing this outfit!  One of my favorite small businesses, Made590, launched their Sweet Heart Chocolate collection and I'm absolutely honored that I get to review a few of my favorite pieces!  If you're not new around here, you know how much I love their Valentina skirts.  I've worn them many times on my blog and I'm just so happy to see their return on this amazing vintage inspired chocolate box print!

The Valentina skirt is made from a lightweight cotton and features a button adjustable waistband with corresponding waist ties, a nice full sweep, and hidden front pockets.  I love the way this skirt closes because if you fluctuate in weight (like myself) you can always wear it on a different button and still feel super comfortable.  This skirt is available in sizes S-2X but because of the adjustable waist, it can fit a wide range of sizes!  I choose to wear a size medium because I have full hips and like the extra fabric, but I can wear and own many size small Valentina skirts as well.

The Sweet Heart Chocolate collection was illustrated beautifully by Kirbee Lawler and this print is also available in a different skirt style and a dress!  This woman owned Australian brand likes to make their clothing in small batches so it's always a good idea to shop your favorites when they drop.  There have been times where I wanted something and missed out!  To find more information on this brand, check out sneak peeks and behind the scenes on their production and photo shoots, make sure to follow them on Instagram!
