Two Hearts

 

Happy Valentine's Day! Normally I'd have tons of Valentine's/Valloween content by now but I'm just starting to get back into the groove of going out and taking photos again. It's been cold, dreary and rainy (which I *love*) so I haven't had many opportunities to go outside but this dress deserved its own post. I've had this dress for years but never actually worn it out... that needed to change immediately!

This Sister Jane dress has everything I love: puffy sleeves, a fun print and gorgeous details. I'm not a fan of molded cups (mostly because I never fit into them) but this dress is an exception. I almost always wear a size medium in Sister Jane and this dress is a great fit. If I had to change anything, I would add pockets and extend their size range. Let's get some actual plus sizes please!

I hope your Valentine's Day is filled with love, whether you're in a romantic relationship or not. Kevin and I love to make this day special for Bianca so she knows that this holiday is more about love than romance. We will most likely be going out for burgers (veggie and otherwise) and enjoying a rainy night in on the couch!

Now that the holidays are over we're focusing on one of our favorite days: Valentine's Day! We love celebrating all kinds of love and these Ivy City Co picnic dresses are the perfect pieces for the big day. I love that this silhouette is more relaxed and it's so easy to dress them up or down. The picnic dress has a tie front ruffle neckline, shirred back, empire waist, puff sleeves, tiered skirt with hidden side pockets and a back zippered closure. These dresses are so comfortable thanks to the open waistline and the shirring elastic back allows for extra comfort. I'm wearing a size XS (I tend to be between a size XS and S) and I love the fit. Bianca is wearing a size 11-12 and she is comfortable with room to grow.

Peanuts BFF

 

Bianca and I both love Snoopy and the Peanuts gang so we were very excited when we were asked to shoot pieces from the new Harvey's collection! This arrangement of bags, dog accessories and more are focused on the BFF friendship between Snoopy and Woodstock. Since Bianca and I are BFF's in real life, we had the easiest time getting into the spirit for this launch!

Love Spell

 

I know blue velvet isn't really considered a Valentine's Day fabric but I can't help but feel like it's an incredibly romantic thing to put on. Although I don't get the chance very often, velvet is one of my favorite things to wear. It takes a silhouette and immediately elevates it. This Sister Jane dress from Ivory Sheep Clothing isn't something I would usually pick for the big day but when I saw the back I knew it was the right choice!

Ivory Sheep is a Canadian small business run by a wonderful woman and her partner. They carry some of my favorite luxury brands like Sister Jane, Selkie and LoveShackFancy. Since Sister Jane is a UK based company, I enjoy grabbing my favorite pieces from Ivory Sheep since it gets to me much faster. They also choose to carry each of their brands in a full size range, including plus (if that company produces in those sizes). Ivory Sheep also ships every order with the most beautiful packaging and a hand written note. They appreciate every one of their customers and it shows!

This spell velvet dress features voluminous puff sleeves, black pearl trim, bubble hem and a show-stopping deep v back. I tend to vary between many sizes in Sister Jane and I'm wearing a medium in this dress. I honestly feel like I could have taken a small, but I also think it would have been too short so I think the medium was the right choice. Overall I think it's a great dress that can work for many occasions, including Valentine's Day tomorrow!

Velvet Tilly

 

Feeling like a woodland princess on the blog today! Valentine's Day is near and there's nothing more perfect than wearing a Pretty Dress Company outfit for the occasion. As a longtime customer and fan, I wear their dresses for many of my special occasions. My ten year wedding anniversary is coming up tomorrow and this velvet Tilly dress would be a great option for the celebration.

The Tilly dress is an off the shoulder dress with boning in the bodice, a full skirt with side pockets and a back zippered closure. The entire dress is lined with a stretch fabric so it's extremely comfortable to wear. Like all Pretty Dress Company pieces, this dress is extremely well made. It feels like I'm wearing something luxurious! I opted for a size UK8 and I find it to be a perfect fit. The Tilly is available in red and forest green velvet and it's currently on super sale! If you like the silhouette but aren't into velvet, it's also available in plenty of gorgeous colors and prints.

February is always a big month for me. It's my wedding anniversary, Valentine's Day and my husband, bother, and brother in law's birthdays. It's *busy*. While I enjoy celebrating these beautiful moments, I have to remind myself to rest because it can be a little overwhelming. What do you do to make sure you carve in some calming moments? Queen of Hearts

 

Happy 2023! I know I only update here about once a month but sometimes I feel like people don't read blogs anymore. Anyway, this year has started to a promising start. We had record rains which means the mountains are actually green where I live now. Maybe that's not super exciting for everyone but it makes me so happy! I enjoyed a walk in one of my favorite places in a casual but fun outfit. I wear pants more now than ever and I really love these wide leg jeans from Unique Vintage. Their Valentine's Day collection has styles from super cute to romantic and I really enjoy having so many different choices for one of my favorite holidays.

I ordered both the top and the jeans in a medium. I'm a curvy person so I usually have a hard time with pants. These jeans fit really nicely! I hope Unique Vintage makes more denim styles because I really like them. The top is from Voodoo Vixen and I haven't worn any of their designs in years. I wish I would have ordered a small because this top is quite large. I can still make it work but I will definitely be ordering size smalls in their designs in the future.

Here's to hoping this year is a good one! I know things have been tough for many (myself included) but I have high hopes for 2023. This year marks my 12th year blogging and I feel really nostalgic and kinda old at this milestone. Either way, I'm really happy you're here and I hope we all have a really great year!

Lover Not A Fighter

 

In my opinion, there are never enough heart prints and the ones I have get wear throughout the entire year!  Sarsparilly's True Love collection is everything a vintage-loving novelty print hoarding person could want.  The Lover Not A Fighter skirt is probably one of my most favorite silhouettes in my skirt collection... and I have a *vast* skirt collection.  It has the perfect amount of volume, doesn't require a crinoline and has a fantastic fit.  Basically, it's perfect!

This amazing skirt is made from a crisp mid-weight cotton sateen and features a full gathered silhouette, deep hidden side pockets, a matching grommet belt with belt loops, and a back zippered closure.  I'm wearing my usual Sarsparilly size XS, which is a size below my usual size small in most other clothing brands.  It's the perfect fit and honestly, it feels like this piece was made for my body.  I love it so much!

Valentine's Day

 

Happy Valentine's Day!  While we all know this holiday is about celebrating love, my favorite part of this day is putting on a cute outfit, preparing a themed lunch for Bianca and giving her all the cute gifts.  My husband and I choose not to celebrate each other because we *just* celebrated our anniversary and his birthday is later this week.  It's a lot!  But I like to make it a big deal with Bianca and we always have the best time.  This year, my outfit is all about pink!  You know I love all things black and spooky but there's a large part of my heart that enjoys pastel colors and cute themed outfits too.  There's always room for both!

Everything I'm wearing here, with the exception of the brooch and backpack, are staples in my closet that I've worn for years.  I know it mostly feels like I share new things here and it's probably because I'm excited about wearing them!  But when I first started this blog I was obsessed with remixing outfits and showing you how to get the most wear from the pieces you already have.  In everyday life, I still remix my favorite pieces and this wrap dress is one of my absolute favorites.  Perfect for a day at Disneyland or a Galentine's Day brunch!  I topped it off with one of my favorite vintage hats and pink coats and instantly felt like a princess!

What's on the schedule for your Valentine's Day?  Bianca is going to school and my husband and I will be working, but tonight I'm going to cook a special filet mignon dinner (and a tofu steak for Bianca).  We will probably get something fancy for dessert and eat it in our pajamas on the couch.  Can you really ask for a better night?!
