Deadly Nightshade

 

Well, it's about that time where I put away my black clothes with sleeves and bring out my black clothes without sleeves. Summer lasts a full 8-10 months here so I have many sleeveless black dresses *but* none quite compare to the Nightshade Underpinning dress from La Femme En Noir. This is a brand new style for them and let me tell you, they really hit it out of the park with this one!

The Nightshade Underpinning dress is made from a really light and breathable bamboo cotton. I was definitely expecting something heavier and was pleasantly surprised. It's the perfect weight for warmer weather. The bodice of the dress has boning all the way around and the closure is a row of hook and eyes down the front. It actually feels like a corset! When I put it on I decided to skip wearing a bra and it was extremely supportive. I will wear anything that lets me leave my bra at home! The dress has a drop waist and the skirt has hidden pockets and a ruffled hem. I love that this dress can easily be layered with a blouse underneath for a completely different (and warmer) look.

I'm wearing a size small and it was the perfect size. I definitely wouldn't size down because of the corset bodice and if you have a big bust you'll need the room! You can buy this dress in sizes XS-5X on the La Femme En Noir website now.

Spring Harvest

 

You would think someone who enjoys autumn as much as I do wouldn't care much for spring. It's actually one of my favorite times of the year. Spring always arrives early here, so the warm weather (sometimes too warm) arrived weeks ago. The mountains are green, the sun is shining and I'm ready to forget my responsibilities and live in nature forever. The Ivoire dress is a classic cottagecore dress in a cream color. It's made from a light cotton/spandex fabric so it's breathable and a little stretchy. The buttons on the bodice are non functional (my bust is thankful for that) so there's a back zippered closure. Also, it has pockets! I paired the Gingerbread corset on top for a little bit color. I own almost every one of Lively Ghosts corsets, I love them so much!

It's finally starting to feel a bit like spring and I am ready! The blooming flowers, the longer days and the lack of sleeves. I can appreciate what every season brings (except summer, she's the worst). Harvey's recently released some classic pieces this season that really got my attention. They feature solid colors in fan favorite styles. While I've mostly carried their colorful and/or novelty themed bags, the classics have a special place in my heart. This rich indigo color was perfect for my "it's technically still winter but feels like spring" outfit.

I'm carrying the satchel and the petite tote and honestly, it's hard to pick a favorite. The satchel is a great size for everyday wear. Big enough to keep all my stuff but not so big that I can't find anything. The petite tote has room for the essentials but is definitely a statement/going out bag. Both have the woven seatbelt pattern which is my *favorite*. I love all the woven styles! Of course, both have inner pockets and a top zippered closure but the petite tote also comes with a shoulder strap that you can attach if you'd like. I'm glad I don't have to pick a favorite because they both live with me now!

I don't care what season we're in, black dresses are always a good choice! This Manuela dress from LoveShackFancy is a bit of a departure from my usual style but I feel like we're a good fit. I love the ease of a slip dress and the lace details really add some texture to it. I was excited to build a grungey goth outfit around it and I really love how it turned out.

The Manuela is a classic slip dress that features a thick crepe fabric, bow detail at the bodice and lace trim on the neckline and hem. I'm wearing a size small and while I feel like it fits on the bottom half of my body, it's a little roomy up top (which is quite rare for me). It's not a dealbreaker but I wish the straps were adjustable so I could have more of a tailor-made fit in the bodice. The faux leather jacket and platform boots were the obvious choice for this dress and I had to finish the outfit with batwing sunnies and my new Labubu on my bag.

Can you believe we're already creeping up to summer? Maybe I'm just getting older but these days have been going way too fast lately. As you know, summer is my least favorite season and I'm trying to brace myself for a very hot 6 months! Maybe that just gives me an excuse to look for cute but breathable linen dresses...

Enjoying spring the best way I know how: by wearing pretty dresses! This stunning dress from the Unique Vintage x Barbie collection is inspired by Suburban Shopper Barbie and basically the dress I wanted to add to my actual closet since I was a kid. I love that they recreate some of her iconic outfits and just a few weeks ago they released a bunch more! I'm just going to be living my Barbie dreams from here on out...

The Suburban Shopper dress features embroidered stripes and 3D appliqué florals on this sky blue fabric. There is a gathered waist with a sweepingly full skirt, deep hidden side pockets and an exposed back zippered closure. I've actually owned this dress before many years ago and I took a size small. At that time the bodice was extremely tight in the bust area. This time around I've sized up to a medium and honestly, I could have just stuck with a small. They must have improved the pattern to be more true to size since I'm usually a size small. It's a little large in the bust and waist here but now I know I should probably stick with a small if I want to snag the yellow version later.

The mysticism corset is the perfect pastel purple shade and has lace along the neckline, boning in the front bodice and a ribbon lacing in the back. I have this corset in multiple shades and I'm wearing a medium here. I feel like I could probably take a small but I like having a little room to wear items underneath it. It's probably the most comfortable corset I own and I always get compliments when I wear them!

The pink version of the haunted hallows picnic basket is limited edition so I'm glad I was able to snag one! It's *huge* so it's perfect for a picnic or for storing things in your home. The inside has this beautiful spiderweb lining so it's definitely on theme. Bianca is already taking ownership of this basket because pink is her favorite color. How could I deny her?
