Blueberry Dream

Collectif Mainline Eliza Blueberries Swing Dress

Spring is in the air and I'm ready to dress the part!  Collectif Clothing has definitely expanded beyond their pinup style and while this is still vintage inspired, I feel like it borders into contemporary as well.  This blueberry print was too cute to pass up so I had to try out this Eliza dress.  Read my full review below!

Shoes- Swedish Hasbeens
Hat- c/o Collectif
Sunglasses- Hello Holiday (sold out in red but available HERE)
Lipstick- c/o Julie Hewett in Biba

The Eliza dress is made from a sturdy stretch fabric and features a sweetheart neckline, adjustable spaghetti straps, elasticized ruffles along the shoulder, slim a-line skirt with two slits up the front, hidden side pockets, and a back zippered closure.  I usually wear a size UK8 in Collectif and I ordered the UK8 in this dress.  While it definitely fits, I think I would have sized up for some extra hip room (I'm very curvy there).  Overall, the dress is quite wonderful!  I will mention: the slits end up exposing more than my modest self is comfortable with when I walk.  If the slits weren't so high or if they weren't there at all I'd consider this dress perfect!  But I think the Eliza is a great dress and I hope to see more in the future.

I just wanted to thank everyone who commented or reached out about my last post.  You made me feel so much better about my decision to explore my personal style and I can't wait to show you more of what I'm loving these days.  While vintage style definitely won't disappear, I'm super excited to show you how I've branched out of that niche style.  Stay tuned!

Pleated Heart

Sister Jane midi dress with pussybow in heart print color block

I know I haven't been blogging as much as I used to but it feels like there's been a huge shift in my life.  My style is different, my daily life is different, my outlook on life feels different too.  We just mourned the loss of our golden retriever, Lucy, as she lost a battle with cancer we didn't even know about.  Everything just feels so far away from the person I used to know so well.  That doesn't mean that I don't welcome this new version of myself.  She's stronger, happier, and more confident than ever.  I know this me doesn't get as much attention as the "pinup" version of myself but I feel much more comfortable in this skin.

That being said, the new me is every bit in love with the UK brand Sister Jane.  It feels so delicate, whimsical, and free.  Since I've banned myself from wearing uncomfortable shapewear, I've been loving a less restricted waistline and have welcomed their shift dresses with open arms.  This color block dress is an absolute dream!  It's funky but feminine and I feel so pretty in it.  I actually own this dress in two color ways, that's how much I love it!

This color block midi dress is made from a lush fabric and features a pussy bow neckline, 3/4 sleeves with a button closure on the cuffs, pleated skirt, and a zippered closure in the front.  I range between and small and medium in all Sister Jane styles and I comfortably take a medium in this dress.  I feel like I could probably take a small but I like to be able to move my arms comfortably.  I can wear this dress all day without fussing with it at all.  My only problem with this dress is that it doesn't have pockets.  As someone who likes to wander without a purse, pockets are key!

While I haven't given up all my pinup-style clothing (my closet is still mostly dedicated to my favorite brand: Trashy Diva), I'm really excited to showcase my ever-evolving style with you here.  I'm hoping you'll stick around and enjoy this journey with me!

Aurora

waxpoeticaurora2

The weather has been rainy and dreary for weeks and it's hard not to have all the sad feelings about it.  Thankfully, this Aurora dress from Wax Poetic Clothing makes me feel like sunshine is closer than it seems!  Made right here in the USA, this veteran-owned small business carries lots of dreamy and well-fitting pieces with a vintage twist.  You can read my thoughts and detailed review on the Aurora dress below!

Lipstick- c/o Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Blush

The Aurora dress in Pink Bouquet print is made from a super soft and stretchy brushed knit fabric.  Honestly, it feels like I'm wearing my favorite t-shirt (but I obviously look way better in this dress).  The Aurora is a true wrap dress, so you can make the waist as fitted or as loose as you please.  The Aurora also features ethereal flutter sleeves, a crossover bust, and a below-the-knee skirt.  I'm 5'6" and wearing a size small and I feel so happy in this dress.  Not even the rain could bring down my excitement!

The Aurora is offered in sizes XS-3X and also comes in an Edelweiss floral print.  It's also under $100, which is an absolute steal for an ethically made garment!  To read more about the people behind the Wax Poetic brand, click HERE.

Jeremy comes in at a close second, he's just the most dapper little frog!  I love the mixture of prints and textures within the resins they chose for him, I feel like it's such a great match.  He's also the perfect size and a great way to finish your outfit.
