Swinging Hearts

Unique Vintage Magnolia Place Red & White Heart Print Jenny Swing Skirt

Are you feeling the love yet?  I'm having the best time wearing all my heart print clothing and as a surprise to absolutely nobody, I have a lot of it!  Celebrating love is so much greater than romantic relationships and I enjoy showing my love towards my daughter, my friends, my pets, and my husband.  In a pre-covid world I'd be planning a Galentine's Day tea but I'm hoping I can continue that next year.  For now, I can cheer myself up with this amazing skirt!

I love a classic swing skirt and Unique Vintage makes a wonderful and affordable one in lots of colors!  It's a lightweight cotton and has large pockets, a stiff waistband and a zipper and top button closure.  This skirt does run small than my normal Unique Vintage skirts, so I would size up if you're between sizes.  I paired it with this bodysuit, which I've had in my closet for many years but haven't really worn.  I love the pairing and it reminded me that it's always a good idea to shop your own closet.  I guess you never really know what you'll find until you look!

I'm gearing up for a nice, relaxing weekend where I have no responsibilites or appointments.  This week has been pretty hard (Bianca hurt her back, Rosko had another health scare) and I really just want to catch up on some sleep and actually enjoy my time off.  Here's to hoping you have some moments of relaxation as well!

Red & Pink

Unique Vintage Pink & Red Hearts Open Long Cardigan

Can you believe I'm wearing pants here on the blog?!  To be honest, I wear pants *a lot* when I'm working from home and I've learned that they don't have to be sweatpants to be cute and comfy.  Unique Vintage has the most amazing Valentine's Day collection (like they do every year) and I was excited to feature a more casual, everyday outfit with a sweet twist.

I actually have quite a few pairs of these Rizzo cigarette pants because they're so comfortable and come in all the colors.  They're made in a super stretchy bengaline fabric and have a side zippered closure.  While they don't have pockets, they're basically the perfect pair of pants that makes you feel like you're wearing activewear but look super chic.  But for reals, let's talk about this sweater!  I have quite a few of these as well because Unique Vintage produces them in all the fun prints!  I adore this mix of pink and red and this sweater is very thick and warm.  The great thing about this entire outfit?  It's also available in plus sizes!  I try my hardest to shop from size inclusive companies because I think it's very important that every body feels beautiful in their clothes.

Confession: my husband and I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day!  Not because we're cynical, but because our wedding anniversary is on the 1st and his birthday is just a few days after Valentine's.  To be honest, this month is *overwhelming* on its own!  Since we had Bianca we decided to make it all about our love for her, which is actually really fun.  Do you have any Valentine's Day traditions?  Let me know in the comments!

Boleyn

Selkie Boleyn Dress in Black

Winter here in Southern California is such a treat because essentially, it's just another round of fall.  I've been enjoying some alone time in nature because it's actually cool enough to walk around without worrying about heat stroke!  I gifted this gorgeous Selkie dress to myself for my birthday last month and it's absolutely everything I could have dreamed of and more.  I intend to wear it for my birthday dinner, if things ever go back to normal and we can finally celebrate!

The Boleyn dress is made from a thick and stretchy ponte and features molded bust cups, puffy statement sleeves, a high-low skirt for a fun silhouette, and finished with a back zippered closure.  I'm wearing a size medium, but only because the bust cups are too small in a size small and I need the extra room.  If you have a smaller bust, definitely go with your usual size because the dress is quite stretchy!

While I absolutely love this dress and it's my favorite Selkie style, I do have to mention some points I'm not too happy about.  First off, the sleeves are much too long!  I have to cuff them a full two inches and I have longer arms.  Also, the point where the sleeve meets the bodice is too low.  So when you lift up your arms the sleeve is restrictive.  If the bodice were cut just a little bit higher, this wouldn't be an issue at all.  While I do have my issues with this style, it's just so beautiful and comfortable to wear.  I'm hoping Selkie will revise this pattern and make it in more colors!

The Boleyn is made in sizes XXS-5X and was produced in black and pink.  It's also a top, in case you like the bodice and not the skirt!  While most sizes are now sold out, Selkie is sold through online shops and boutiques (which is how I got mine) so you can always start searching that way if your size is sold out!

Kitschy Witch Designs Doreen Dress in Sleepy Hollow

Happy 2022!  While I've been pretty busy lately with life, I've had a few moments here and there to enjoy the things that make me happy.  Kitschy Witch Designs is releasing this gorgeous new Doreen dress tomorrow and I felt like it was the perfect time to dress up, get out, and give you all the details on their first drop of the year!

Hat- vintage

First off, there are lots of new and nostalgic elements to the Doreen dress.  This dress has a square neck with a short sleeve, gathered a-line skirt, exposed front pockets, and a back zippered closure.  Stephanie has brought back one of her favorite prints, Sleepy Hollow, but has given it new life in a purple hue!  The fabric is the same as her other clothing options, a stretchy cotton sateen.  I usually wear an XS or a small in Kitschy Witch clothing and I'm currently wearing a size small in the Doreen.  As someone with a large bust and a small waist, I feel comfortable in the bust and belted the waist.  I feel like I could have taken an XS, but I much prefer my bust have the room it needs.

This dress will be available tomorrow for purchase!  Kitschy Witch Designs offers their clothing in plus sizes as well (definitely a 3X, maybe a 4X) and the size XS Doreen will be available in a few weeks!  If you're looking for the XS size, just make sure to follow Kitschy Witch on Instagram for updates.
