Power Print

Love Ur Look Power Print Shirt Dress

The hot weather is here to stay and there's nothing better than wearing an easy but fun cotton dress!  Love Ur Look, a sustainable and ethical small business, makes some of the most beautiful yet wearable dresses on the market.  Ronke (the woman behind the brand) designs most of her fabric as well.  I love the mix of this power print with their classic shirt dress style, it feels like a match made in heaven!

The Power Print Shirt Dress is fully lined and made from a soft 100% cotton and features a statement collar, functioning buttons down the bodice, short sleeves with cuffs, a longer length a-line skirt with exposed front pockets, a matching fabric sash belt, and a side zipped closure.  This is a definite "throw on and go" dress.  You can pair it with any color accessories or wear it alone and you instantly look fabulous!  Since I've been stuck at home for the past few months, this dress has been such a great piece in my closet.  Dressing like myself has been a huge part of keeping me sane during difficult times and the Power Print has been in regular rotation.  I went with my usual size small in this dress and I found the fit to be great!  The fabric sash allows you to cinch your waist and gives that perfect vintage vibe.

This dress was just restocked and is available in sizes S-6XL.  You can also find this print in several styles if this silhouette isn't your jam.  And if it is, you can also find this shirt dress in several cute prints as well!  Make sure to check out all of Love Ur Look's offerings, they have a great product and you'd be supporting a wonderful small, woman owned, ethical, sustainable business (whew... those are lots of great things)!

Hollywood

Trashy Diva Butterflies and Begonias Hollywod Circle Dress

Happy Friday!  Even though this week was short because of the holiday, it felt so long.  The weather is hot, the days are long, and (for the most part) we're stuck inside.  My family and I make sure we get some outside time every weekend and I was pleasantly surprised to find one of my favorite parks has now reopened!  I made sure to wear one of my favorite Trashy Diva pieces, the Butterflies and Begonias Hollywood circle dress, to compliment the gorgeous outdoor surroundings.  My BFF Sammi from The Soubrette Brunette also styled the same dress for our posts today!  We may be on opposite coasts, but our style is always on the same wavelength :).

Trashy Diva has been making many versions of the Hollywood dress for years now but the Hollywood circle is my absolute favorite.  What sets it apart?  The longer length full circle skirt!  I'm 5'6" and can't wear minis so the length is perfect for me.  As someone with very wide hips, I appreciate the full skirt too.  Every Hollywood dress has the ruffle sleeves that can be worn on or off the shoulder.  As you can see, Sammi wore hers off the shoulder and I wore them up.  While I usually wear them off the shoulder, I wanted to showcase how different the dress looks when you keep them on.  It's like having two dresses in one!

The fabric of the Butterflies and Begonias collection is flat rayon, which means it has no stretch.  The bodice of this dress has shirred panels on the bodice which allows some stretch, but the waist will remain firm.  I went ahead and got my larger of my usual Trashy Diva sizes (4) and I found this dress to be the perfect fit.  I've heard from others that the dress seems to run small so I would recommend taking your larger size or sizing up for a comfortable fit.  You can find this dress in sizes 0-24 online right now!  If you're not a fan of the dress but love the print, there are many different pieces (including shorts and separates) to choose from.  Oh, and they offer AfterPay too so you can shop now and pay it off later!

Have you shopped with Trashy Diva lately?  What are your favorite pieces? Let me know in the comments below!

Primrose Blooms

Miss Candyfloss Tamara Mint Top MIss Candyfloss Primrose Skirt in Silver

Spring has surely passed the baton to summer here and I am living in all the warm weather clothing!  Luckily, Miss Candyfloss has all the cutest vintage summer styles that focus on comfort.  This is my first time trying their separates (I'm more of a dress/jumpsuit girl) and I was so happy with the quality and comfort of both pieces.  Check out a more detailed review below!

Miss Candyfloss Tamara Mint Top MIss Candyfloss Primrose Skirt in Silver

The Tamara-Mint top is made in a textured cotton and features bust gathers, removable bows at the shoulders, and a side zippered closure.  I love the versatility of this top with the bows!  It would be easy to layer with a cardigan if you took them off.  I'm wearing a size XS (my usual Miss Candyfloss size) and it just fits.  I think in the future I will order up to a small for a little more room.  The Primrose skirt is made from a mid weight fabric and features a high waist with delicate curvature at the band, below the knee length swing skirt, and deep exposed size pockets.  I also took this skirt in my usual XS and I found it to be tighter than usual but wearable.  This skirt is so versatile and absolutely gorgeous, I can see myself wearing it no matter what season we're in!

Miss Candyfloss proudly makes their designs in sizes XS-5X and designs them with the modern vintage-loving woman in mind.  I'm never disappointed with the quality and I love checking out their new arrivals every week (my wishlist is always miles long)!  Have you shopped with this woman-owned small business before?  What's your favorite piece?  Let me know in the comments below!

Butterflies and Begonias

Trashy Diva Butterflies and Begonias Carmen Midi Dress Penny Dress

I can't remember the last time I posted a mommy and me blog and I've missed them so much!  Now that we're in the days of Instagram (aka instant gratification) I usually post these kind of pictures over there.  But Bianca, now six, indulged me in some Mother's Day pictures in our matching Trashy Diva sets.  Trashy Diva released their newest print, Butterflies and Begonias, last week and I have to admit: I am obsessed.  I haven't loved a print this much in quite some time and they've included a little girls dress version so I went nuts!  You can read all about the Butterflies and Begonias collection below!

Butterflies and Begonias is a beautiful floral print that features royal blue, grey, mint, and teal colors with yellow butterflies on a very warm red (close to orange) background.  This collection is printed on a flat rayon, which means it has no stretch.  I chose the 1930's inspired Carmen midi dress, which is a newer style that features half sleeves with open slits on the side and elastic cuffs, a crossover bust, banded waistband, and a midi length gathered skirt with hidden side pockets.  The back of the dress plunges down pretty low so I was unable to wear my normal bra, but I think I could have hidden it if I tried.  In Trashy Diva dresses I'm always between a 2 and a 4 and because of the non-stretch flat rayon, I went with a 4.  The 4 is the perfect fit!  It's nice and fitted but not tight enough to make me feel uncomfortable.  I also purchased the Hollywood dress in this print, but I'll save that review for another day.

Bianca is wearing the Penny dress, which she initially had in the fan-favorite Steel Magnolias print when she was a baby.  I'm super happy to see this style return because I love the ruffles and the tie-back waist.  She's six and usually wears a 6 or 7 in girl's clothing.  She's wearing the 7/8 in this dress and while it fits, it's definitely quite short on her.  I'm wondering if I should get the 9/10 for length?  Either way, she loves it and I'm so happy she still lets me twin with her!

Butterflies and Begonias is available in several styles (including separates!) in sizes 0-24.  Make sure to shop while you can, this print is very popular and you'll be supporting a woman-owned small business too!

Fan Faves: Part 2

Anyone else pleasantly surprised by the second wave of the Fan Favorites collection from Erstwilder?  This wave is full of great recolored designs: eleven brooches, two sets of earrings, and and three necklaces.  They've also included five matching design scarves, all available in head or neck lengths.  Take a look at what I've picked (and believe me, it was hard to choose) by scrolling down below!

God of Time

I love this new color of the God of Time brooch!  That marbled and sparkly blue resin is just perfect for this galactic themed piece.  Plus, the dangling starbursts add an extra dose of cuteness.  Bianca fell for this brooch immediately, it's her new favorite!  You can also coordinate with the matching neck scarf, which I've done here.

Arguably one of the most sought after brooches, Peak-A-Saurus Rex is back and in a vibrant new hue!  This bright orange cutie is hiding among the sparkly and marbled leaves.  I love the size of this brooch and I'm so happy he's back (because I missed him the first time around).

Scotty Stegosaurus

Another dinosaur has been resurrected and I am so glad Scotty is back!  I have Scotty in the original red color and I love this new pink version.  I love the addition of the sparkly spikes on his back, it gives him a bit of extra shine.  You better believe that both Bianca and I will be sporting our Scotty brooches together on the regular!

Balthazar
Erstwilder Balthazar Brooch

Erstwilder Balthazar Scarf

A symbol of good luck, I love all things elephants so Balthazar was a must!  Balthazar has been recolored a few times and this new blue marbled version is just so pretty.  He is very petite and I love how he adds just a bit of flare to my outfit.  If you're not a broochie or just feel like being extra matchy, you can get the scarf too!

Hyacinth Hummingbird
Erstwilder Hyacinth Hummingbird Scarf

Hummingbirds are my absolute favorite kind of birds.  They live in my backyard and I think they're just the cutest!  I've fashioned this Hyacinth Hummingbird hair scarf as a neck scarf and I just love it so much!  There's also a matching brooch if you're looking for a joint ensemble.

You can shop the entire Fan Faves collection on the Erstwilder website right now.  These pieces tend to go quick so make sure to grab your favorites while you can!  Which designs are you looking to add to your collection?  Let me know in the comments below!
