There's nothing that inspires me to wear black more than summer. I'm just counting the days until Halloween at this point, I only have to wait one more season! Since fall is basically a *little* less hot than our summers, I lean in hard to my spooky yet summer functional wardrobe. And you know who does that best? Lively Ghosts. I love their shop and this thistlebloom corset is one of my favorite pieces they've ever made.

The thistlebloom corset is made from a sturdy fabric and features boning built inside, lace detail at the neckline, grommet and bow detail at the straps and a lace back closure with satin ribbon. I saw this corset runs a little small so I went with a medium and it's a great fit. I love how it looks paired with this Selkie dress but I've also worn it with a peasant sleeve top and shorts and it was such a great look. Seriously, I feel like I could add this piece to so many things in my closet!

Well, I'm just going to have to accept it: my first 2024 summer outfit is here! As much as I despise this season I do like to dress the part. Nooworks has been a go-to company for many of my summer ensembles and this year is no different. Their Berries collection has everything you could possibly need for the heat! And I mean everything... this print comes in pretty much every style imaginable. I went with the Dahlia dress and I absolutely love it.

The Dahlia dress is made from a comfy but sturdy stretch cotton jersey material and features a mock neckline, below the knee skirt with hidden side pickets and that's about it! Since it's very stretchy it has no closures: just slip it on and go! I went with my usual small and it's a great fit. I know a lot of people like to size down but I'd rather not stretch the print in the bust. I added a red belt from my closet and my favorite heart shaped purse for the finishing touches. I don't think I'll ever get over twinning with Bianca. We've been doing it since she was a baby and many of those outfits have been featured here! love the fact that I can look back and see the little peanut I once knew and enjoy the wonderful girl I know now. The Blakely dress is made from a cotton fabric and features a square neckline with bow detail at the shoulder, smocked back, gathered skirt with hidden side pockets and a back zippered closure. I love that Bianca's dress also has the same exact details. Kids like to have pockets too! I also prefer any dress that lets me wear a normal bra. I went out with no shape wear when I wore this dress and I felt comfortable and confident! Because of the smocking in the back, I went with a size XS and it was the right choice. It accommodated my large bust while also feeling like it fit me well. Bianca is in a size 9-10 and it was the right fit with a little extra room for growth.

Dark Romance

 

As we gear up for another nearly unbearable six months of summer weather, I'm making sure I take in all the days where I can still wear sleeves. La Femme En Noir released a Dracula collection a few months back and I absolutely fell in love with this Dark Romance dress. The drop waist, the ruffled sleeves and the bustle!!! I can't resist a bustle. While I haven't had the opportunity to wear this out and about yet, I had a great time photographing it here.

The Dark Romance dress is made from a slightly stretchy satin fabric and features 3/4 sleeves, fitted bodice with a drop waist, voluminous skirt with deep hidden side pockets and a built in crinoline underneath, pleated back bustle and is finished with a back zip. This dress is absolutely stunning, I am pretty sure this is my favorite black dress in my closet (and I have a lot). I'm wearing my usual size small and this dress was the perfect fit. This stunning piece of wearable art is available in sizes XS-4X and is also available in a red color, which I'm hoping to snag soon!

I'm pretty sure this post is my official goodbye to spring, which is sad because I love it so much. But we are halfway to Halloween so that means I'll be working on spooky content *very* soon!
