Falling Into Autumn

 

Today is the last day of August which means it's basically fall which means it's basically Halloween... right?  While the temps here are always reflecting summer I have a great love for fall.  The sounds of leaves crunching while you walk, drinking pumpkin spiced lattes, and all the cool weather clothing.  This plaid dress from Miss Candyfloss is everything I could ever want in an autumnal outfit and I'm so happy I snagged one in my size when it released last week.  I'm pretty sure if I dress the part I can bring all those fall vibes to fruition!

The Phoebe-Amber dress is made from a warm poly blend fabric and features a sweetheart neckline with gathers under the bust, short sleeves, a below the knee swing skirt with side pockets, a back zippered closure, and a matching grommet belt.  I usually wear between an XS-Small in Miss Candyfloss but tend to take my larger size in non-stretch fabrics.  I took a size small and while this dress is large in the waist, the bust is perfect and the belt makes it look tailor-made.  This dress sold out almost immediately on the Miss Candyfloss website but Modern Mille has just a few left!  Here's to hoping this dress makes a return in some other fun tartan fabrics this year!

I'm currently fighting quite a cold right now.  Bianca went back to school three weeks ago and almost immediately contracted her first cold in a year and a half.  Feeling the beginning of normalcy (like going back to school) reminds us that there are also some cons to mingling with people again.  I totally forgot about the constant cycle of minor sicknesses this time of year!  We're both okay but I could use about 8 more hours of sleep.  Maybe when Bianca is in college I'll find time for those extra hours...

Bride of Frankenstein

 

As I write this blog I am enjoying my very first pumpkin spice coffee of the year.... I guess that means spooky season is finally here!  While I'm taking some time before I start decorating, my wardrobe has switched over to all things Halloween.  As a huge fan of Loungefly and their clothing line Stitch Shoppe, I was so excited when they released a Universal Monsters collection.  This velvet Alicia dress is everything a monster girl could want!  Both cute and spooky, it's the perfect dress to add to my collection.

The Alicia dress is made from a soft and very stretchy embossed velvet.  It features an all-over print of stitched hearts and a contrast Peter Pan collar with Frankenstein's monster and the Bride of Frankenstein embroidered on each side.  A removable self neck tie finishes the neckline to create a vintage inspired look.  There are also puff sleeves, an above the knee length skirt with hidden side pockets, and a sturdy back zippered closure.  I'm wearing a size XS, which is a size down from my usual Stitch Shoppe size.  Since the velvet is so stretchy, I was easily able to size down.  Their size charts are accurate and are individualized for each piece.  Definitely go with the size chart if you're having a hard time picking a size!

The Universal Monsters collection also features another dress style, a matching cardigan, and an adorable bag.  Sizing is inclusive, from XS to 4X.  You can find the entire collection HERE!

Summer is coming to a close so I figured I would take one last go at a fun, summery outfit.  As you probably already know, Sarsparilly collaborated with Strawberry Shortcake on a ridiculously sweet apparel collection.  The Cutest Berry in the Patch dress is a vintage inspired dream that's incredibly well made and available in inclusive sizing.  Find a full review on this dress below!

The Cutest Berry in the Patch dress is made from a stretch cotton sateen that's great for summer weather.  It features a scoop neckline, puff sleeves with a button closure, a super full skirt with deep pockets, and a back zippered closure.  The thin red grommet belt is included and is removable if you'd prefer it without one.  The border print features Strawberry Shortcake, Custard, and Cupcake frolicking in a strawberry garden.  I love the 1980's artwork with the 1950's dress style, it's the perfect match!  I'm wearing my usual Sarsparilly size XS (which is a US size small) and it's a perfect fit.  This amazing dress is available in sizes XXS-4X.  Some sizes are sold out right now but they will be restocking so make sure to join the mailing list for updates!

Cream Puff

 

It's officially August which means my spooky style is in full swing!  Stores are slowly releasing their Halloween merch and decor and some of my favorite businesses are dropping their hauntingly gorgeous apparel.  Sourpuss Clothing prides themselves on being creepy all year long but they bring it extra hard for Halloween.  They were kind enough to send me this Cream Puff dress and I gotta say, it's such a fun piece to style!

The Cream Puff dress is a fully lined chiffon dress that features cute puff sleeves, an empire waist for a babydoll effect, a shirred bodice in the back for comfort, a ruffled hem, and a matching self tie belt.  I love how sweet and versatile this dress is, I find myself pulling it out to wear for multiple occasions.  While the back of the bodice has tons of stretch, I went with my usual size Small in Sourpuss dresses and it was a great fit.  This dress is available in sizes XS-3X and it also comes in two fun prints!

I know I'm totally crazy for Halloween but I gotta know: are you ready to start decorating yet?  While I haven't pulled out the decorations just yet (if you're not counting the spooky room I have on display 24/7), I have purchased a few things here and there to get going.  One of my favorite purchases is the 12 foot skeleton from Home Depot.  I missed out on him last year and I am so excited that I get to put him on my lawn this year!  Here's to hoping the neighbors don't mind!
