Bad Girl

Vixen by Micheline Pitt Bad Girl Crop Top in Black and White Stripes Vixen Pencil Skirt in Powder Pink

I rarely wiggle myself into a pencil skirt, but when I do, it's from Vixen by Micheline Pitt.  Known for their high-quality structure and ability to look good on all shapes and sizes, this Vixen wiggle skirt is a staple for any vintage enthusiast's closet.  I know pink isn't a neutral to many, but I don't consider myself part of that crowd.  I decided to showcase this beautiful piece with a classic striped top for the ultimate Barbie-inspired look!

Made from a heavy stretch cotton sateen and fully lined in a silky charmeuse, this skirt feels just as good as it looks.  It features a wide waistband, back slit, and a back zippered closure.  Even with my larger hips, I could easily step into this skirt.  I went with my usual size small in wiggle skirts and I feel like I could have maybe sized down.  I have the same skirt in black and I feel like that one ran smaller (like most black fabrics do).  It's not roomy enough to exchange, but I'll probably try on a smaller size the next time I'm at the Vixen store.  But I'll enjoy this one to pieces in the meantime!

I have a very fun girl date in store this weekend.  I can't really say much without giving it all away, but it's going to be pretty epic!  Make sure you're following me on Instagram to see what kind of trouble I get into while exploring Hollywood with some iconic ladies...

Postcard

J.Crew off-the-shoulder ruffle-hem dress in postcard print

For me, a casual outfit doesn't necessarily mean active wear or jeans.  I like to find well-made, comfortable outfits that look a lot fancier than they feel.  This J.Crew dress is the perfect example of looking like I tried when I really just threw this on and went about my day.  Smoke and mirrors people, it's really a lot easier than it looks!

The print on this beautiful dress was inspired by the southern coast of Spain.  It features an elastic neckline and sleeves that can be worn up or down, a ruffle hem, self-tie sash, and a side zip closure.  It's made from a breathable yet sturdy cotton that's perfect for the warmer weather but can easily be layered for fall.  Amazingly enough, this is actually my very first J.Crew piece!  Considering how much I love the quality and construction of this dress, I feel like a new obsession has blossomed.  Although most sizes of this dress are sold out, you can find the rest of the Postcard print collection HERE.  All sale is currently 40% off with the code HELLOSALE.  Get it while you can!

I've been thinking about starting a new hobby to occupy my time here at home...  At least until I find a decent job!  There are lots of things that interest me but I feel like blogging can be really time consuming.  It's not that I don't love blogging, I just have an itch for something new.  I want to sit here and say that I'll be posting here a little less to focus on something different, but my controlling nature usually gets the best of me and I'll try to juggle both.  I'll make sure to keep you posted on my progress and if you see less updates in the future, you'll know why!

What's On My Radar: Current Loves

Summer is coming to a close which means my favorite season of the year is upon us!  Fall is filled with fun holidays, traditions, and the best clothing/accessories to keep you looking festive.  This month's installment is dedicated to every vintage-inspired fashionista who loves novelty prints...  Everything from kitschy to classy!  You can check out all my picks below:

Em and Sprout
  1. Ghost Leggings
  2. Pumpkin Pail Brooch
  3. Ghost Enamel Pin- Set of 3
  4. Halloween Skater Fit and Flare Dress
  5. Ghost T-Shirt
  6. Haunted House Ghost Zipper Pouch
Em and Sprout is stocked with spooky goodies year-round but brings out tons of cute handmade items around Halloween.  I've been dying to own one of her Halloween-themed skater dresses for years, I think I'm going to finally take the plunge!  I'd also love to add those ghost leggings to my closet.  Because who doesn't want to look creepy and cute while working off that trick or treat candy at the gym?

Trashy Diva Mime Time
  1. Tuxedo Dress in Mime Time
  2. Re-mix Playtime 2 Wedges
  3. Clear Bangle
  4. Rockabilly Baby Emma Dress in Mime Time
  5. Triangles Kisslock Clutch
  6. Marcella Dress in Mime Time
  7. Re-Mix Pleated Toe 2 Sandals
It's no secret that I'm obsessed with Mime Time (you can catch my outfit post HERE) and I'm just so inspired by the infinite styling possibilities!  I really love playing with black and white together or taking the pastel colors from the print and highlighting them with cute shoes.  I can't wait to wear that Tuxedo dress, it's definitely my new favorite!

Heart of Haute
  1. Estelle Blouse in Black
  2. Summer Dress in Shades
  3. Sweet Sweater in Kelly Green
  4. Sweet Sweater in Pink
  5. Sweet Sweater in Cocoa
  6. Estelle Blouse in White
  7. Summer Dress in TV Time Rust
My goodness, Heart of Haute is killing me with all their cute fall outfits!  I've been a longtime Estelle blouse lover, but layering it under a Summer dress is just perfect.  Like, I need this dress in every print and color.  Their Sweet sweaters are also a great layering piece.  You can tie it in a bow in the front or tie them in the back for a wrap-top look.  I wear my black one to pieces so naturally, I need more colors.

Kitschy Witch Designs
  1. Cauldron Cutie Pin
  2. Moonbeam Novelty Brooch
  3. Pumpkin of my Eye Print
  4. Mystery Action Robo-Buddy Brooch
  5. Ray Gun Gang Brooch
Stephanie Buscema forever has my heart.  She's such a wonderful person and a ridiculously talented artist.  Her shop, Kitschy Witch Designs, is the perfect place for vintage and Halloween inspired clothing, prints, and accessories.  I've featured some of my favorite pins/brooches and the cutest (in my opinion) Halloween print in her shop.  But you should really take a look if you've never wandered in there before: you'll never want to leave!

Hearts and Found
  1. Dorothy Dress in Solid Air Force Blue
  2. Lindy Circle Skirt in Red Gingham
  3. Lindy Circle Skirt in Solid Barbie Doll Pink
  4. Elizabeth Dress in Solid Apple Green
Hearts and Found is another favorite brand of mine.  I'm always clamoring to get their newest novelty print but often forget how good their solids are.  While I have yet to own one of their new Lindy skirts, I feel like I need one in my life!  How amazing is that Barbie pink color?!

What's on your wishlist this month?  Let me know in the comments below!

Cherry Blossom

Stop Staring Swing Dress in Cherry Blossom Print

Even though summer technically lasts until October here in Southern California, I'm still counting down the days until all things fall.  Who doesn't love pumpkin spiced coffee drinks, seasonal baking, and decorating/dressing for Halloween?!  While this Stop Staring dress has been great for this sweltering summer, I can't wait until I get to work this into my fall wardrobe with some fun layering.  Cherry blossoms look gorgeous all year around and the black base allows you to play with lots of fun colors.  I guess I've been dreaming about all the possibilites way too much!

This classic vintage-inspired dress is made from a stretch millennium farbic that accentuates your curves but feels light and comfortable while wearing it.  It features a sweetheart neckline, molded bust cups, spaghetti straps, a full gathered swing skirt, and a back zippered closure.  Like the rest of my Stop Staring wardrobe, I took a size small in this dress and it fits like a glove!  I'm hoping one day their swing dresses will have pockets (we all know how important those are) but it's not a deal breaker for me.  But I will take any chance I can get to leave my purse at home!

Kevin and I are hosting a party at our house for his coworkers on Saturday.  This isn't the first time we're having a party in our new house, but it's definitely been awhile since I've played hostess.  I think the plan is to have plenty of tacos, lots of activities for the kids, and a much anticipated Las Vegas fight on tv for the adults.  Wish us luck!

Mime Time

Vixen by Micheline Pitt Bad Girl Top in Black and White Stripes Trashy Diva Bernadette Skirt in Mime Time

There's nothing like a gorgeous vintage-inspired print to get you excited about mimes!  Trashy Diva's new Mime Time collection is the perfect way to transition your wardrobe from summer to fall.  With a bunch of new styles in a gorgeous olive hue, you're bound to fall in love with at least one piece.  As a novelty-print lover, I was immediately head over heels and couldn't wait to add a few new styles to my closet!

Mime Time is made from a light, soft cotton voile and features five dresses, one skirt, one Rockabilly Baby dress, and a belt.  The Tuxedo and the Marcella dresses are brand new cuts, as well as this Bernadette skirt.  The Bernadette features a thick waistband, a-line skirt with hidden side pockets, and a full front button closure.  As someone who's usually a size 4 in skirts, this 4 is just a little bit on the small side.  There's a little pulling at the waistband but cotton voile is known for relaxing with wear.  Since this is the first time I'm wearing this skirt, I'm sure it will be perfect the next time around!

Yesterday Bianca and I went to Disneyland for the first time in months!  Both of us have been itching to go back, especially since Bianca is now a massive Guardians of the Galaxy fan.  Her new favorite character is Gamora and she had the opportunity to meet her at Disney California Adventure.  There's something about making her dreams come true that make me forget about the long drive, the heat, the crowds, and the waiting in long lines.  It's always worth it!

Dahlia

Paisley Raye Dahlia Dress Southern California Belle

I've been feeling more 40's styles lately and this outfit is no exception.  The Dahlia dress from Paisley Raye is comfortable enough to wear everyday but looks amazing when it's dressed up as well.  I'm getting the most out of these summer days with this dress but I think it will be easy to transition into fall with some fun layering.  Am I the only crazy person that thinks about how to style a certain piece for every season before I buy it?  Please tell me I'm not the only one...

The Dahlia dress features a surplice neckline, gathers at the shoulder, short sleeves, and a-line skirt complete with hidden side pockets.  It's made from a super stretchy and incredibly soft fabric that literally feels like you're wearing a cloud.  The Dahlia doesn't have zippers or buttons, you can just throw it on and go!  Like the rest of their collection, this dress is available in sizes XS-4X.  I've linked a Facebook shop where you can explore the Paisley Raye collection.  If you don't see the size or style you want, make sure to send a message so the shop girls can cater to your needs!

I'm gearing up for some self-care this weekend.  Two of my dogs have been sick (one recovered, the other is not doing so well) and I've been generally frustrated with the stagnant nature of my life lately.  I'm trying to be positive but I feel like I need a clean slate.  So I'm meeting up with some old friends and I'll probably make use of some Lush bath bombs and scented candles.  What do you do when you need to recharge?  Let me know in the comments!

Hidden Treasure

Trashy Diva June Blouse 1940's Skirt in Pirate Treasure Southern California Belle

Trashy Diva Hollywood Dress in Pirate Treasure The Soubrette Brunette

When Sammi and I were planning our outfits for our New Orleans trip, we decided we wanted to "twin" at least once.  While we have lots of the same outfits, Trashy Diva's Pirate Treasure print was on the top of our list.  This collection is easily in my top three favorites (I do own five pieces) and I thought it would be fun to compliment Sammi's Hollywood dress with the new June blouse.  We took our coordinating outfits to the New Orleans Botanical Garden and we were completely blown away.  Full of lush gardens, an amusement park, and even a restaurant; you can easily spend an entire day here.  If we hadn't been so time-poor we certainly would have!

Trashy Diva's June blouse is a 1940's lover's dream!  It features a button front with snaps in between (no bust gaping, ladies!), petal sleeves that allow you to lift your arms with ease, triangle breast pockets, peplum detail at the waist, and a matching grommet belt.  I went with a size 4 for bust room but I feel like I probably could have sized down without any issues.  I paired it with the classic 1940's skirt to give it a faux-dress feel but I love to wear it with my lounge pants too!  I'm looking forward to adding more June blouses to my closet in the future.  It really is the perfect vintage-inspired piece!

Trashy Diva is releasing a new print today and I can't wait for everyone to see it.  I had the honor of modeling some of this collection and let me tell you: I am in love!  Keep your eyes peeled, the new collection launches at 9am PST.  Let me know what you think when you see it by commenting below!

Joanie

Joanie Clothing Hermione Le Pique-Nique Slogan Knit Quinn Polka Dot Skirt

I feel like I've been pushing my personal style boundries lately and this outfit is no exception.  I rarely (and by rarely I mean never) wear skirts above my knee but this Joanie Clothing skirt was too cute to pass up!  Sturdy but stretchy, this polka dot skirt is the perfect base to any outfit.  I'm already dreaming about different ways to style it for the cooler months ahead!

This strawberry jumper is light enough to wear in summer but will easily transition to fall with some simple layering.  This soft knit features 3/4 sleeeves, a round neck, and the cutest embroidered picnic design on the front.  I'm wearing a size small and it was the perfect fit!  My skirt is a size UK8 and I feel like it runs true to size as well.  My first experience with Joanie Clothing was nothing but positive and it definitely won't be my last!

This week has been kind of crazy and I'm just trying to keep my head above water.  Two of my dogs have had health issues, my daughter has been sick, and I literally can't get anything done.  I'm hoping for a bit of break today since all three of them seem to be on the mend.  I'm ready to act more like a fun mom and less like a live-in nurse!
