Blue Hawaii

The Pretty Dress Company Priscilla Dress in Blue Hawaii

I'm currently sweating out this summer because it has been hot!  When I'm forced to leave my air conditioned home, I look to throw on my coolest pieces and this Priscilla dress is one of my favorites.  The Pretty Dress Company has everything from wedding-ready pieces to everyday wear and this dress is the perfect hot weather companion.  I actually have a few Priscillas but this new Blue Hawaii print is so dreamy!  Read more about this dress below!

The Priscilla dress is a stretch cotton number that features adjustable spaghetti straps, a lined bodice, super full skirt with large hidden side pockets, and a back zippered closure.  Like all items made from The Pretty Dress Company, this dress is made beautifully.  It's so high quality and and lush, I'm always impressed with their dresses.  The Blue Hawaii print is a nod to vintage Hawaiian prints and has me longing for another Kona sunset (one day I'll be back).  I'm wearing my usual size UK8 and it's a pretty good fit.  The waist is always a little large for me, but I usually fix that with a belt.  Overall, I'm really happy with this dress and I'm happy to add this Priscilla to collection.

This dress is available in sizes UK8 to UK18 and their shipping is incredibly fast!  You can also find the Priscilla in over twenty other prints and colors, in case Hawaiian prints aren't your thing.  This UK based small business is a lovely place to shop and I'm always overjoyed with my purchases.

Have you shopped with The Pretty Dress Company before?  What's your favorite style?  Let me know in the comments below!

Disney Inspired Style: Whosits & Whatsits

I haven't been to the Disney parks much this year (because of the closure here in California) so I'm rocking my Disney-inspired outfits to keep that magic alive!  While I love a great Disneybound, I tend to go for a more subtle everyday look and Whosits & Whatsits has everything you need to keep your Disney spirit alive!  Their products range from unisex tees to accessories and pins and they all have a lovely nod to your favorite characters.  Everything they make is great for everyday wear and I'm going to show you a few of my favorite products below!

Whosits and Whatsits French Kitty Beret

Whosits and Whatsits French Kitty Beret

As a massive Marie fan, I knew I needed this beret!  I love how it looks like a normal beret in the front but has the cutest little ears in the back.  Perfect for a Marie Disneybound or a great addition to your everyday outfit.  If Marie isn't your thing, this beret also comes in black and orange as well!  You can shop this adorable piece HERE.

Whosits and Whatsits Cauldron Born Tee

If you're an 80's spooky kid like me, you probably loved The Black Cauldron.  It's seriously so hard to find great merchandise for this movie so I jumped on this tee as soon as I saw it!  I love the vibrant colors and the totally 80's feel to this print.  This tee is unisex and is available in sizes XS-4XL (I'm wearing a size small for reference).  You can grab this tee on their website HERE.

Whosits and Whatsits Lost Princess Neck Buff

Who doesn't love a new face covering now that they're required (especially here in California)?  This neck buff is a great way to cover your face but it can be used in so many ways!  You can also wear it as a headband, neck warmer, wrist band, and more.  While it doesn't take the place of PPE, this neck buff is perfect for your trip to the grocery store.  I've worn mine already and have received so many socially distanced compliments!  You can shop this neck buff HERE.

Whosits and Whatsits Apprentice Neck Buff

If Rapunzel isn't your thing, you can also show off your Disney spirit with this classic neck buff!  This print was inspired by Sorcerer Mickey and I love it so much!  It has a perfect subtle hint of Disney so only those true fans will know where the inspiration came from.  You can shop for this neck buff HERE.

Make sure to check out all the offerings from Whosits & Whatsits on their website!  They have so many different fandoms and they're inclusive too.  Support a small business and keep that magic going in your everyday life!

Twenty Thousand Leagues

Kitschy Witch Designs by Stephanie Buscema Twenty Thousands Leagues Gillian Skirt

As a massive Stephanie Buscema fan, I'm always excited when she releases new clothing from her brand, Kitschy Witch Designs.  Steph produces a new print just about every season, and this Twenty Thousand Leagues summer print is absolutely everything!  This year is the 150th anniversary of Jules Verne's book Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and this print is such a great homage to this amazing story.  You can read more about this Gillian skirt and the rest of this collection below!

The Gillian skirt is made from a thick cotton sateen with a good amount of stretch.  It's a gathered skirt with a two inch waistband, hidden side pockets, and finished with a side zipper and two button closure.  These skirts run quite generously, I'm wearing the XS and it is pretty roomy.  I'm planning on moving the buttons to nip in the waist a little but I can comfortably wear this as is.  The print features a gorgeous deep sea landscape with divers, submarines, a giant squid, and so much more!  Every time I look at it I find something new.  It's such a beautiful print that really works all year around!

You can find this skirt online now in sizes XS-4X and there is also a matching scarf (which is unfortunately sold out) and a button-up unisex shirt.  If you're looking for a dress version in this print, you're in luck!  Stephanie is releasing the Rosaleen dress today at noon PST.  All her products are made right here in the USA and you're supporting a wonderful artist and keeping a lovely woman-owned small business.... in business!

Have you purchased anything from the Twenty Thousand Leagues collection?  Let me know in the comments below!

Zelda

Vintage Vandalizm Zelda Dress in Yellow Floral

If you can't tell, I'm already dreaming of cooler autumn evenings and the outfits to match.  Just like every year, I am over this heat and I'm anxiously anticipating wearing, decorating, and living that fall-inspired life!  The Zelda dress from Vintage Vandalizm is a gorgeous, twirl-worthy new addition to their collection and I am head over heels!  The sleeves are what initially won me over but there are so many more great details to the Zelda.  Scroll down to read more about this dress!

The Zelda dress is a 1940's style silhouette and is made from a light chiffon fabric.  It's fully lined and features gorgeous bishop sleeves with pearl buttoned cuffs, a deep v-neckline, full knee-length skirt, a matching fabric waist sash, and a back zippered closure.  There is also smocking on the back of the bodice so the bust and waist provides a lot of stretch.  I'm a pretty straight size small but after talking to Jasmin, the owner/designer, I went with the XS.  While I do love the fit, the waist is a little short for my long torso.  Thankfully, the waist sash can easily hide that!

The Zelda is available in sizes XS-4X and also comes in a gorgeous pink floral, because this yellow floral is out of stock.  It actually sold out in one day!  Jasmin is a one-woman show who just started Vintage Vandalizm and is doing some amazing things.  You can shop all of her beautiful designs on her website HERE.  Shop a small, WOC-owned business and support a wonderful woman at the same time!

A-OK

Nooworks Frida Dress in A-OK Print

Well, it's been a good four months since my family and I have been home and we don't really see an end in sight!  Kevin is working from home, I lost my job a few weeks ago, and we signed Bianca up for full-time distance learning for her first grade year in the fall.  While I don't wear makeup and do my hair every single day, I do dress the part (mostly for my mental health).  I've been obsessed with Nooworks for quite a while but their styles have been a lifesaver during a time of quarantine.  Their pieces are comfy and breezy, which is ideal for my time at home.  This Frida dress is a new style of theirs and let me say: I am obsessed!  You can read more about the Frida and this woman-owned inclusive small business below!

The Frida is made from cotton poplin (which allows a bit of stretch) and features adorable ruffled sleeves, a loose fitting empire bodice, longer length tiered skirt with hidden side pockets, and a back zippered closure.  This dress is meant to be nice and roomy so I took my usual size small and it fits great!  I suppose you could size down but I like having the length in the bodice.  The print was designed by Katie Benn, who also designed their snacks and ever-so-popular knives print.

If you're not familiar with Nooworks, they're a woman-owned and woman run business.  They also work with women to source their amazing artwork for textile prints!  I love that they produce everything right here in California and they offer inclusive sizing as well.  If you take a look at their website, their models represent all kinds of women and they also have a section where you can see what sizes their employees wear in several styles aka The Selfie Fit Guide.  Their customer service is top notch and I've never had a bad experience with them.

As someone who has decided to really consider where to put my dollar these days, I feel confident that my dollar is well-spent at Nooworks.  An ethical, inclusive company that cares about their employees as well as their customers.  You can shop with Nooworks online or, if you're local to Los Angeles or San Francisco, you can shop in store.  I've been to their LA location a few times and it's always a super fun experience!

Have you shopped with Nooworks before?  What's your favorite style?  Let me know in the comments below!
