Strawberry

Stop Staring Strawberry Swing Dress

Anyone else gravitating towards reds and sweet novelty prints lately?  I guess love is in the air because my closet looks like a wearable Valentine!  This Stop Staring strawberry swing dress is the perfect number for a day date with your sweetheart.  I'm not much for the obligatory Valentine's Day dinner, so a simple picnic in the park with a knockout dress sounds good to me!

This dress had been on my wish list for years but somehow never made it into my closet.  It features molded bust cups, a full gathered swing skirt, and long back zipper.  It's such an easy dress to throw on and go!  If anything, I only wish the straps were adjustable.  I have an extremely long torso and sometimes non-adjustable dresses can be too short in the bodice.  I was able to wear it with a belt confidently, but I feel like this dress is best suited for someone with a regular or shorter torso.  The print is a subtle yet sweet strawberry and yellow floral print on a white background.  While it may technically be winter, this dress can easily wear through any season. I have lots of summer plans with this dress!

Tomorrow is my 4th wedding anniversary.  Since Kevin works a pretty dedmanding job, we won't be celebrating until the weekend.  He's planned a romantic dinner, which means I need to figure out an outfit plan!  It doesn't matter how big my closet is, I swear I can never find something to wear when I need it.  Let's hope I discover a hidden gem before Saturday!

National Velvet

Wheels and Dollbaby Dita Cardigan in National Velvet Pinup Girl Clothing Laura Byrnes Cropped Trousers in Black Cotton Sateen

This is absolutely overdue, but Sammi and I finally have a new twinning post up!  Because we're best friends who love lots of the same things, our closets are very similar (aka: way too big and full of color).  We've both admired the Dita Cardigan from Wheels and Dollbaby forever, but we finally took the plunge when this gorgeous National Velvet version released.

I can't get over how much I love this color!  I never really felt the urge to add this cardigan to my shopping cart until I saw it in my favorite hue.  I love the velvet covered buttons, intricate embroidery on the front and back, and the sweet Peter Pan collar.  While it's technically a cardigan, it's definitely meant to be worn as a top.  I decided to pair it with cropped trousers because I knew Sammi would totally knock this out of the park with a skirt!  If you want to read about Sammi's take on the cardigan or get the details on her outfit, make sure to visit her blog HERE!

Lemon Ava

The Pretty Dress Company Ava Lemon Print Pencil Dress

I've been having way too much fun in this new dress from The Pretty Dress Company!  While the weather isn't quite ready for spring, wearing this lemon print beauty reminds me of the warmer days ahead.  I've said it many times before: I'm not really a wiggle kind of girl.  But these last few Pretty Dress wiggles have completely converted me (you can read my review on the Hepburn wiggle dress HERE).  Today's post is dedicated to the Ava and I'm excited to share everything I love about it!

The Ava dress is made from a sturdy stretch cotton elastane, which means it has structure, is breathable, and can hug your curves perfectly.  Since I have a 15-inch difference between my waist and hips, I rarely find a cotton wiggle dress that fits both areas.  This dress stretched to the shape of my hips (where most other dresses would probably rip) to accommodate my figure perfectly.  The Ava is fully lined, features a V-neckline in the front and back, faux shoulder bows, and a slit at the bottom of the skirt for ease of wear.  It's finished with a full back zipper so you can easily step into the dress.  I went with a size UK8 (which is the same size as all my other Pretty Dress Company styles) and it was the perfect fit.  I find that their size chart is incredibly accurate, but has some "wiggle room" due to the stretch in the fabric.  If you're unsure about sizing, I would make sure the waist measurement reflects yours.  There's a seam at the waist, so there's almost no stretch in that area.  For someone who is relatively new to wiggle dresses, this dress was surprisingly comfortable to wear.  And thanks to the sleeveless style, you can easily layer it with a cute cardigan to make it office appropriate.  This may be my first, but won't be my last Ava dress!

I'm literally waiting for these storms to clear so Bianca and I can make our way back to Disneyland.  The Electrical Parade is finally back and I'm dying to take her!  She has never enjoyed Disney at nighttime (we're earlybirds) so it will be an exciting night for the both of us.  I have a feeling it's going to be one of those "forever memories" so I'll be stalking my weather app until the bid day is here!

Grape Vine

Vintage Beaded Cardigan Vixen Classic Black Full Skirt Vixen by Micheline Pitt

I'll admit it: I'm currently on a massive vintage-collecting binge.  I've been all about beaded cardigans, floral hats, and 40's style structured tops.  While I started collecting true vintage ages ago, I shelved those priceless pieces for baby-friendly repro.  Now that Bianca is three, I can feel more confident about wearing more delicate outfits.  I recently acquired this grape vine beaded cardigan and I can't stop wearing it!  It definitely shows signs of age, but like most well-loved vintage, it just adds character.

California is currently being hit with a few storms, which means I don't get to explore or take any outfit photos for a few days.  I can't really complain though, I'm definitely a homebody!  That just means more cuddle time with my husband, Bianca, and our dogs.  I will say, I am really excited about my posts coming in the next few weeks.  I've really dedicated myself to wearing things outside of my comfort zone and I can't wait to share them with you.  Stay tuned!

Haunting

Lil Lou Lou Jivin' Skirt in Haunting Wallpaper Unique Vintage Voodoo Vixen Black Dita Teese Keyhole Stretch Top

This Lil' Lou Lou skirt has been hiding in my closet for quite some time.  Not only have I been waiting for the perfect location for this blog post, but I want to use it for a Disneybound as well.  The subtle print is perfect for a Haunted Mansion outfit (it resembles the wallpaper in the famous attraction) but is also great for everyday wear.  It felt especially spooky on this gloomy day and my skirt really complimented my mood.  You can get all the details on Lil' Lou Lou and Lily's creations in my review below!

Lily, the lovely lady behind Lil' Lou Lou, really knows her way around a swing skirt.  Her Jivin' skirt features a wide waistband, a gratuitous gathered circle skirt, massive pockets, and belt loops.  It's finished with a side zip and a hidden two button closure.  Her skirts measure at 27.5" in length, but I altered mine to 25".  Her skirts range from XXS-3X and they come in a bunch of solid colors and prints.  She also has a great kid's line (Bianca has a small collection) that matches her skirts!  Because we all know how much I love matching mommy and me outfits...

This week I'm concentrating on being home with Bianca and my dogs.  I was extremely busy last week and I feel like I need to spend some quality time with my favorites.  That may or may not include getting dressed, so don't be surprised if I don't have an outfit post for the rest of the week!

Seville

Unique Vintage The Pretty Dress Company Vintage Deep Green Seville Floral Half Sleeve Hepburn Wiggle Dress

It's not everyday that I'm inspired to put on a wiggle, but I couldn't help myself with this The Pretty Dress Company number!  Thanks to Unique Vintage, it's now super easy for us ladies in the USA to get these dresses without having to pay high shipping costs.  I'm a huge fan of the Hepburn swing dress so I decided to give the wiggle version a try.  You can read my review of this floral frock below!

The Hepburn wiggle dress is made from sturdy cotton with just a hint of stretch.  It's lined in a soft, silky fabric so it's super comfortable to wear.  This dress also features a v-neckline in the back, half sleeves, and a slit in the back of the skirt so you can move with ease.  Much like the swing version, I do find it hard to zip myself.  Because it's so structured and has sleeves, getting to the back zip can be tough when I'm alone.  But it's worth the struggle (or making sure my husband is home to zip me up) because this dress fits beautifully.  I went with a UK8 and it was nothing short of perfect.  I was surprised it accommodated my hips so easily!  I'm planning on bringing this beauty out for my husband's birthday dinner next month, it really is the perfect occasion dress!

I'm still recovering from Bianca's birthday madness, but I'm taking the day to rest because I have a fun photoshoot scheduled for tomorrow.  I can't really say much yet, but make sure to keep up with me on Instagram for all the details!  All I can say is: I really shouldn't have binged on birthday cake these last two days...

Lovebirds

Trashy Diva Hopscotch Dress in Lovebirds Print

I can't help that I've fallen head over heels for this Trashy Diva dress!  The Lovebirds print was originally released in silk in 2004, but thanks to the ever so popular March Madness contest, fans voted this one for a comeback.  This re-release was printed in my favorite fabric: stretch rayon.  It's buttery soft, stretchy, and is the perfect match for the first return of a heritage print.  Read more about my choice, the Hopscotch dress, below!

This is my second Hopscotch dress (you can read about my first one HERE) and it's quite different from the Hourglass version.  Because of the fabric, I feel like the Lovebirds version has more give and has a less structured look in the skirt.  The Hopscotch dress has a Peter Pan collar, rhinestone covered buttons down the front, full skirt with pockets, and the cutest back cutout detail ever.  Trashy Diva also added a hook and eye at the top of the collar, in case you want a little more coverage in the front.  I took a size 2 in this dress and I feel like I could have sized down for a more snug fit.  But I'm happy with the 2 and can't wait to fill out the waist with lots of tacos!  Apparently I'm not the only one who loves this dress; it's been available for just eight days and almost sold out on their site!  Thankfully, there are five other dress styles to choose in the Lovebirds print and plenty of stockists who carry the Hopscotch (in case your heart is set on it).

I'm thinking about taking Bianca back to Disneyland today.  As I type this I'm still undecided, only because I know it's going to be crazy.  Today is the first time in weeks that our annual pass isn't blocked out, which means there are many other pass holders with the same idea.  Bianca really wants to meet Darth Vader but I also have to plan her 3rd birthday party.  I can take one day off to do something fun with her, right?

xoxo
