Welcoming the spooky season ahead with a warm weather appropriate dress from La Femme En Noir. When people think of fall it's always chunky sweaters, layering and crisp cool days but here it's basically summer until November. I appreciate that La Femme En Noir offers spooky inspired dresses that can be worn in all seasons. The Ambrosia is a new-to-me dress and I really love the dark cottagecore look it creates, even with minimal styling.

The Ambrosia dress is made from a thick, stiff but comfortable cotton sateen and features a Basque waist, lace up bodice that mimics a corset, adjustable straps, gathered skirt with hidden side pockets and a back zippered closure. The bodice also has boning throughout, so it really maintains that beautiful shape in the bodice. The straps have a button closure and you can adjust the length and wear them either criss crossed or straight.

Let's get into the fit. This one was tough! I am *always* a size small in La Femme En Noir and this dress fits much different. I am a busty person and heard this dress was very small in the bust. I ordered up to a medium and while it fits in the bust, I have a much harder issue with the fit everywhere else. The waist is quite roomy so I laced up the corset in the front as much as I could for that snatched feel. Unfortunately, I had the most problems with the straps. They're much too long to wear them straight so I crossed them in the back. The middle hole (there are three) seemed to be the most comfortable but the straps are still just a little too loose. If I button on the shortest hole the bodice is too high and creeping into my underarms. I know not everything is going to fit tailor made and while this works, I really wish my bust were smaller so I could enjoy my usual size. My suggestion is to stay with your normal size if your bust is on the smaller side.

Enjoying spring the best way I know how: by wearing pretty dresses! This stunning dress from the Unique Vintage x Barbie collection is inspired by Suburban Shopper Barbie and basically the dress I wanted to add to my actual closet since I was a kid. I love that they recreate some of her iconic outfits and just a few weeks ago they released a bunch more! I'm just going to be living my Barbie dreams from here on out...

The Suburban Shopper dress features embroidered stripes and 3D appliqué florals on this sky blue fabric. There is a gathered waist with a sweepingly full skirt, deep hidden side pockets and an exposed back zippered closure. I've actually owned this dress before many years ago and I took a size small. At that time the bodice was extremely tight in the bust area. This time around I've sized up to a medium and honestly, I could have just stuck with a small. They must have improved the pattern to be more true to size since I'm usually a size small. It's a little large in the bust and waist here but now I know I should probably stick with a small if I want to snag the yellow version later.

Heartbreak Hotel

 

Happy 2025! I'm so excited to promote the new Harvey's x Elvis collection! Tomorrow would have been his 90th birthday and I can't think of a better way to honor his legacy. Elvis is a big part of our family, Bianca shares a birthday with him and we are all obsessed with his music. The whole collection is stunning but this Heartbreak Hotel crossbody feels like it was made for me!

The Heartbreak Hotel crossbody is a heart shaped seatbelt bag and features embroidery on both sides. I love the pink piping along the edges and the charms are everything! It's a hotel key with Elvis on one side and Heartbreak Hotel on the other. There is also an adorable skeleton key to compliment the other charm. The zipper pulls are guitar picks with TCB on one side and Elvis' signature as well. The inside boasts a zippered pocket and two open pockets and the lining features a bunch of Elvis' album covers. It's finished with a removable Elvis adjustable crossbody strap. It's the perfect size and I can't think of a better way to show off your love for Elvis!

What's this? A new collection based on one of my favorite movies? Unique Vintage has teamed up with Disney to offer this amazing Nightmare Before Christmas collection! While there are plenty of stunning pieces to choose from, I instantly fell in love with this Jack Skellington western jacket and matching pants. The best part: I can wear them for spooky season *and* Halloween because this movie is great for both holidays. I know that's a hot take to some but it's true!

Both the jacket and the pants are made from a very stretchy bengaline fabric. It's super comfortable to wear and retains its shape. I comfortably wear a size medium in Unique Vintage pants and decided to size up to a medium for the jacket so I can layer with it. I'm glad I did size up because both pieces definitely fit more snug than most mediums. While the fabric does stretch, the band on the pants does not. So if you're between sizes I would definitely size up! I can't wait to wear this to Disneyland, it's the perfect outfit to wear when meeting Jack and Sally!

I'm fully settled into my Summerween wardrobe thanks to Unique Vintage! Every year they're one of the first clothing companies to drop their Halloween collections and as usual, it's pretty great! One of the first pieces I picked up was this jack-o-lantern pinafore. I'm a huge fan of the spooky pinafores they've offered in the past and this one is just as cute as the rest. Bianca immediately had to try it on just in case it fit her. While she still has a few more years before she can start raiding my dress closet, she has already claimed this one as her own!

This pinafore is made from a corduroy fabric and features a pumpkin bib, skater skirt with front exposed pockets, adjustable straps and a back zippered closure. I sized up to a medium for this piece because I like a little extra length in the straps and waist room for when I wear a chunky sweater underneath. I'm overall happy with the fit and I adore how I can take this piece from summer to fall with some layering pieces. The jack-o-lantern pinafore is available in sizes XS-4X. Feels like the perfect day for a trip to the Emerald City! I'm over the moon that Harvey's has collaborated with WB to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the classic film The Wizard of Oz. From the beautiful costumes to the iconic music, The Wizard of Oz is beloved and has inspired generations of fans over 85 years. I'm so honored that I get to show you a sneak peek of one of the pieces Harvey's will be offering in this collection: the Ruby Slippers Bow Lolita bag.

The Lolita is an extremely popular bag with Harvey's fans but this is actually my first one! The Lolita is a petite handbag made from seatbelts and offers two handles, a detachable and adjustable crossbody strap, ruffle detail on the sides and fully lined interior with a zipper pocket and two open pockets inside. Since this is a Bow Lolita, it also has an adorable bow on the front side of the bag. Harvey's took so much into consideration when turning this Lolita into a Wizard of Oz inspired bag. The seatbelts are a sparkly red, just like the ruby slippers. The charm on the side is of Dorothy with her wicker bag and ruby slippers, the lining is blue gingham with red poppies and the zipper pull at the top of the bag is a ruby slipper. It was obviously designed with love and both Bianca and I will love this bag for a lifetime!

Does it get any more summer than a swimsuit?! I'll be honest, I spend very little time in the sun or at the pool. But because I'm a mom with a summer-loving kid, I'll grab a cute suit and enjoy the day in lots of shade with a book. This Barbie x Unique Vintage classic chevron suit is a homage to the original 1959 Barbie doll and perfect for my spooky summer style.

This swimsuit features the classic black and white chevron print with a sweetheart neckline and adjustable and removable straps. The original Barbie suit doesn't have straps but I love that this one includes them if you need them (and I definitely do). I'm wearing a size medium, which is my usual size for Unique Vintage bathing suits. I would say it's a fit for the most part but I wish the suit itself were a couple of inches longer. I have a long torso and usually have a hard time finding one-piece suits that accommodate me. Thanks to the straps, I can wear this suit without worrying about the top riding down.

I decided to pair this suit with some spooky accessories for a cute "I'm at the pool but never in the pool" kind of outfit. These tap shorts from La Femme En Noir are a staple in my closet, especially in summer. I love that they look like a cute skirt but function like shorts. I topped this look off with some Barbie inspired sunglasses and my favorite bat shaped wicker purse. Just because summer makes me sad it doesn't mean that my outfits have to be!
