Viva Las Vegas

Just want to take a moment and thank my friend Anastasia for modeling this outfit for my blog.  Not only is she beautiful, but she has the perfect body to rock this Vegas inspired outfit!

Hair Tutorial: How I curl my hair

Well, I've finally had some time to do a hair tutorial via pictures!  I've had some readers ask me how it's done so I'm going to try my best to explain it and show you through here :).

This is what you will need:
- Curling iron.  You can really use any size, but the wider the barrel the more loose the curls will be.
- Hair clip.  You're going to use this to section off your hair.

I started with my hair naturally dried.  You can blow dry it if needed, but I like to keep as much heat away from my hair as possible.

I like to section off my hair three times.  People with thicker hair may have to do it a few more times, but three gets the job done.  Here is where I section off the first part.  I like to do it right at my ears.
I will then point the curling iron down and wrap a section of my hair around the barrel away from my face.  I don't use the clamp at all, and if you'd like, you can take it off.  I hold onto the ends and don't heat them at all.  Believe me, it will help you prevent split ends!
And here is what it looks like:
I take the second section around the crown of my head.
And I'll repeat it by taking small sections and wrapping my hair around the barrel.

Here is a side view.
And the back.
Now on to the last section!

Here is the finished product:
Make sure to run your fingers through your hair and "mess up" the curls a bit.  You don't want it too look too perfect!
And you're done!  It usually takes me about ten minutes to do my hair, but that's due to my thin hair and being used to doing it everyday.  I hope this helps and if you have any questions feel free to ask!

Instagram Roundup: Vegas Edition

Well, I'm still recovering from the drive back home from Vegas a few hours ago.  I've barely left my couch!  This weekend was filled with shopping, eating at raved restaurants, late night dinners, and clubbing (I actually danced for a few minutes!) in a city that truly operates 24/7.  I've been going to Las Vegas since I was a kid and I try to visit every couple of years.  Believe me, it will probably be another couple years before I even want to.  While my sleep schedule is totally off, it was a great trip.  Check out my pics from this weekend below :)

Friday night makeup

My week consisted of work (ugh, so much work), making a bunch of loose leaf tea in my teamaker, and moving my brother and his girlfriend Alayna into their new apartment across the street.  Literally, right across the street.  So very excited!  What were you up to?

Tiers of Joy

Top- Forever 21
Skirt- Threadsence
Shoes- Target
Jewelry- Forever 21
Clutch- Urban Outfitters

As you can probably tell my last few posts, I'm pretty obsessed with maxi skirts.  I feel like they're perfect for summer.  I'm not one to show off my legs on a regular basis, so if you've been skipping the gym (like me, due to a knee injury) maxi skirts are the perfect hideaway!

I've worn this skirt in a post before and I tend to wear it out a lot too.  Orange and blue is a favorite color combination of mine, which is probably the reason I keep wearing this skirt with blue :)

I hope you all have a great 4th of July (I'm off work!) and I'll be posting later this week!

P.S. Happy birthday to my friend Joy (which is where this post title comes from)!  I've been friends with her since elementary school and it's been so amazing to have a friend for that long and grow up together.  Also happy birthday to my dad!  Love you both so much!
