Floral Web

Pinup Girl Clothing Pinup Couture Peasant Top in Dark Green Pinup Couture Jenny Skirt in Floral Web Print

Hooray for the weekend!  I might be working all three days (because I like to include Friday as a weekend day) but there are lots of fun events going on at the boutique.  Tonight is Ladies Night Out, which means the entire street stays open later, lots of food trucks park outside, and we do something fun inside the store.  If you're local, you might want to stop by ;).  Sunday is Miss Rockabilly Ruby's hair class, which means we turn part of the store into a classroom for Ruby.  Her hair models are usually friends of ours, so I get to see some lovely ladies I might not have seen in a while.  It might be work, but I always have fun and interact with the loveliest people.  I feel lucky I can say how much I love my job!

Pinup Girl Clothing has been killing it with their new separates!  Not only did they release a bunch of new colors of my favorite peasant top, the new Jenny skirts (and any other Jenny from now on) now have pockets.  It sounds like a tiny detail, but it makes all the difference in the world.  They're also releasing a ton of new solid Jenny skirts and dresses, in addition to the the Mary Blair collection coming out this spring.  Why do I feel like I'm going to be poor very, very soon?

What are you looking forward to this spring?

Ellie May

Unique Vintage Hell Bunny 1950s Style Green High Waist Crepe Ellie May Swing Skirt Target Boatneck Top in Black and White Stripe

Spring-like weather also calls for spring-like allergies, which are killing me at the moment.  I have pretty sensitive skin all year around, but when my allergies kick up so do the skin irritations... On my eyelids.  It sounds crazy, but my lids love to puff up so much that at times I can't even fully open my eyes!  So I've been taking it easy with the eyeliner and giving my lids a breather.  I've also toned down my look by leaving my extensions off my head.  As much as I love them, they can sometimes cause major headaches.  Today I'm enjoying a lighter, more casual look that still makes me feel pretty and put together.

This gorgeous Ellie May skirt from Unique Vintage has been on my wishlist for quite some time!  It's made of a lightweight crepe, which means it's flowy and has lots of stretch.  If you're unfamiliar with Hell Bunny, their sizing tends to run large.  I chose their smallest size and the waistband was still a bit loose.  The top button closure allows me to re-position the button for the perfect fit.  Until I find the time to do that, I'll be sporting it with a belt!

I'm actually working five days this week, which is a very unexpected schedule for me.  I work part time, so anything more than three days seems like craziness.  Before you roll your eyes, remember that I also care for Bianca, which is a job I never get to clock out for.  Let's just say I'm already counting the days until Monday!

Lucy Dots

Trashy Diva Lucy Dress in Lucy Dots

Nothing makes me happier than seeing this gorgeous local nature preserve looking green again.  California has been desperate for rain due to the horrible drought, and we've recently seen some come our way.  It didn't take much to get this place looking lush again!  It was the perfect place and the perfect weather to wear one of my favorite Trashy Diva dresses.  Kevin doesn't have a say in what I wear (you know, because I dress for myself) but he went out of his way to compliment this one.  It's a showstopper for sure!

Erstwilder just released some adorable new brooches and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one!  As you may know, Kevin and I rescue chihuahuas and our three boys are considered our children (in addition to BB).  I can't imagine treating a member of the family any differently!  Anyway, when I saw little Bruiser Bow Wow on their website I nearly died from cuteness.  While I have yet to find many chihuahua prints on clothing, I can now wear a chihuahua on my outfit everyday if I wanted.  Here's to hoping Bruiser comes in different colors down the line!

Fluttering Moth

Pinup Girl Clothing Pinup Couture Peasant Top in Royal Blue Jenny Skirt in Moth Print

Who else was ridiculously excited to get this skirt?  I didn't truly fall in love until I saw the sample at work a few months ago... And let's just say I fell in love!  In addition to it being the perfect shade of purple (one that does not compete with the shade of my hair), it also has gorgeous shades of blue, mint, gold, and green.  The color combinations are endless!  I decided to pair it with my blue peasant top, which is actually one of my favorites.  That is, until I get my new ones today.  That mint color has me planning all kinds of outfits in my head!

Yesterday was Kevin's birthday and we had a low-key celebration.  He had to work (and as a Christmas baby I don't comprehend people working on their birthday), but Bianca and I met up with him for lunch.  Going out with Bianca is always hit or miss, sometimes she's good and sometimes she makes a scene.  Thankfully, she was happy as a clam and we had a wonderful time together.  She only cried on the way home, only because she's a daddy's girl!

Big Band Bows

Trashy Diva Jitterbug Dress in Big Band Bows Print

Sammi and I were talking about how different our surroundings are this time of year.  For example, she's dealing with over a foot of snowfall right now.  I, as you can see, am enjoying the spring bloom.  The trees only look like this for a few weeks at best, so I was anxious to get out and take some photographic evidence.  Bianca was marching around the park while she waited for me to finish and managed to get in the background of some of my pictures.  I didn't include any here, but it was hilarious!

Although this Trashy Diva print has been long gone, it certainly lives on in my closet.  The Jitterbug dress is a sweet yet comfortable day dress that gets a million compliments when I wear it out.  I love the thick waistband and the gathering at the bust is ridiculously flattering.  I'm hoping this dress style will make a comeback this year in a new print.  I'm also dying for a Goldie dress, I'm crossing my fingers for summer.  It would be the perfect cut for the summer heat!

Falling Leaves

Pinup Girl Clothing Pinup Couture Jenny Skirt in Falling Leaves Print Peasant Top in Red

Anyone else not quite ready to start the week yet?  I don't know if it was the Valentine's festivities or the fact that I haven't slept well in a few days, but I'm wishing I could conduct all of Monday's business from my bed.  Unfortunately, Trader Joe's has yet to come up with some sort of online shopping/delivery service, so I'm stuck adulting today.  I have a feeling this day is going to require quite a bit of caffeine!

I ended up working yesterday, so I didn't really have high hopes for Valentine's Day.  As I've mentioned before, Kevin and I don't really celebrate, but he surprised me by visiting me at work with flowers, a card, and lot of Porto's pastries.  Since we live about 30-45 minutes away from my job and he almost always has Bianca in tow, he never visits me.  It was a short and sweet visit and I absolutely applaud the effort!

We finished the night in matching Kylo Ren pajamas and ate burritos from the local Mexican restaurant.  Bianca was at grandma's house, so it was a rare dinner at home alone.  I have to say, this was probably one of the best Valentine's Day to date!

What did you do for your special day?  More importantly, what did you wear?

Daisies and Cream

Pinup Girl Clothing Deadly Dames Jailbird Top in Black Red Ruby Vintage Full Skirt

There's nothing like a one-of-a-kind skirt!  I guess technically there's two, but the other one is in the closet of the very woman who made it: Gail from Red Ruby Vintage.  I've featured many of her items on my blog, I'm pretty sure I'm her biggest fan!  She uses vintage patterns and fabrics to create the most beautiful clothing.  If you've been following for some time, she's also the lovely lady behind my Brandy Rose dress.  I still get weird random people asking me to sell it (which will never happen)!

Yesterday Bianca and I went to Disneyland alone (we do it about once a month) and it was more than a bit challenging.  She's arrived at the terrible twos with the grandest of entrances, and I can't help but feel embarrassed and then question my parenting style.  She was screaming like a crazy person for absolutely no reason.  I just don't know how to effectively curb this awful behavior and it makes me feel completely helpless.  I honestly want to keep her in hibernation until she grows out of this, which is hopefully soon!  I know it's not the answer (I wasn't being serious) but I'm almost scared to take her out these days.  Those judgmental stares haunt my dreams!

Open Book

Bernie Dexter Chelsea Dress in Book Print

I can't even tell you how long I've waited for this dress to make its way to my closet.  This Bernie Dexter dress is an oldie, but such a perfect piece.  I don't know for certain, but I feel like there was a very limited quantity of this dress.  Other than one or two Google images of Bernie wearing it, you can't find any customer pictures in this dress (except for Bristol, the queen of hunting unicorns).  Because of what seemed like an impossible chance, I put my energy towards finding one on the back burner.  Thankfully, a lovely Australian lady offered to sell me hers, brand new with tags in my exact size.  What are the chances?!  I can't thank her enough for thinking of me and sending me the epitome of a "unicorn dress"!

As a child, I was obsessed with reading books.  I had (and still have) a very vivid imagination so books were always my favorite place to spend my down time.  I was also obsessed with princess Belle, who shared my love for books and distaste for cocky men.  She's still very much my favorite princess and I'd like to think she would wear something like this... You know, if she were real.

I'm gearing myself up for what I'd like to call a lifestyle change.  Since before the holidays, I've been indulging in absolutely everything.  I could eat my weight in pizza and I'm starting to feel the effects.  While my metabolism is still fast, I don't feel good on the inside.  It's just one of those habits I need to cut completely, because I actually love making and eating healthy food.  So fingers crossed I get this healthy living thing back on track, because my next step will be much harder: exercising!

Grand Fleur

Trashy Diva Ruby Middy Dress in Grand Fleur Print

Fat Tuesday is tomorrow so I felt like I needed an outfit to celebrate!  I've only been to New Orleans during Halloween (which was crazy fun), but I really love how the whole city comes together this time of year.  I can't think of anything else quite like that here in Los Angeles, so I'm just going to live vicariously through my Louisiana friends and sport this super cute Trashy Diva number.

Yesterday may have been Super Bowl Sunday, but it was lady brunch time in my book!  I met up with Mary-Catherine from Monster Stewart and a bunch of other ladies for some much needed girl time.  We rarely get the opportunity to come together all at once, so it was quite a treat!  Sometimes I get so wrapped up in my own life that I forget to stop and appreciate the wonderful people I have around me.  As much as I love my "lone wolf" lifestyle, feeling the positive energy of others actually makes me feel new and ready for the long week ahead.  I know I can't be the only one!
