Cherry Sadie

Trashy Diva Sadie Dress in Cherries Print

Cherry prints are classically retro but they're normally not for me.  The print has to be the right color and size, and the fabric needs to be comfortable (I swear I'm not crazy).  Trashy Diva has the most perfect cherry print that pleases my eye and my quest for high quality clothing.  This is actually my first Sadie dress; after months of being on the fence I finally took the plunge.  I have a true hourglass figure and the Sadie accentuates that without compromising comfort.  I guess you can say I'm in love!

Today I'm meeting up with my lady love, Mary-Catherine from Monster Stewart.  We do our best to get together frequently, but jobs/blogs/Bianca seem to keep that from happening as much as we'd like.  Since we're both big foodies, we like to have a fancy lunch and bond over our love for LA restaurants, clothes, and makeup.  Keep your eye out for some Instagram photos later today!

Baby Cthulhu

Pinup Girl Clothing Laura Byrnes California Little Jun Skirt in Baby Cthulhu Print Deadly Dames Jailbird Top in Black

I never thought you could take a mythical creature like Cthulhu and make him utterly cute and wearable.  If you were at Wondercon last weekend, you had the opportunity to get your hands on Pinup Girl Clothing's new Baby Cthulhu print.  You get to choose between a Dee Dee dress and a Little Jun skirt, or you know, both if you can't decide.  If you've read my previous posts raving about the Little Jun skirt (here and here) then you'd probably know how much I've been looking forward to this one!  If you're on the hunt for a Baby Cthulhu piece of your own, not to worry: they'll be dropping later this week!

I hope you had a wonderful Easter!  I feel like this was the first year Bianca actually knew what was going on, so it was ridiculously fun to watch her open her Easter basket and hunt for eggs.  It was also quite warm out so she played in a kiddie pool for the very first time.  That girl loves being in the water!  I have yet to put her in any swim classes, but I feel like this summer is the perfect time.  It's both an honor and truly heartbreaking to see my little lady grow up.  Is it too much to ask her to stay little forever?!

What's On My Radar: Current Loves

Spring is in full swing, which means I'm pulling together my pastels, florals, and cute accessories for the warm weather.  I love the beautiful vibrant colors that come with blooms of the season, so expect to see lots of pretty outfits in the next few months.  Here's a small peek into my ever growing wish list:

Doll Me Up
5. Pastel Umbrella Brooch

Doll Me Up always has the cutest things!  I love checking their site on Thursdays (that's when their new arrivals drop) to see what I'm going to add to my wish list.  How cute is that pastel umbrella brooch?  I seriously need it in my life.

Sephora
5. Dior Addict Lip Glow

I know I've been lacking in the makeup posts lately, but that doesn't mean the obsession has subsided.  Christian Louboutin released the most gorgeous lipstick line and I've been dying to try it!  I'm also a huge fan of Kat Von D Tattoo Liner, I just haven't purchased it in awhile since I've recently tried to switch to gel liner.  But let me be clear: nothing gives you the precision you need like a felt tip!

Unique Vintage Shoes

5. Green Cutout Donna Platform Leatherette Retro Pumps

Unique Vintage has been killing it with their shoes lately!  Bettie Page is one of my favorite brands and I'm so excited that they now carry my favorite styles.  I'm dying to own a pair of those pastel yellow beauties...

Femme De Bloom Earrings
1. Handmade "Macaron My Heart" Yellow Heart Shaped Macaron earrings
5. Handmade "Confetti Cupcake" Aqua Cupcake Earrings with Yellow Base and Pink Cherry on Top

I've featured Femme De Bloom on past Current Loves posts, and I swear her stuff just keeps getting cuter!  Melanie recently released a Sweet Tooth collection which is literally a confectionery dream.  I want it all.

Modcloth
BAIT Footwear
5. Care To Dance Heel

Modcloth always has the greatest selection of BAIT shoes, and I love their fun hues and cute scalloped edges.  I can't believe I don't have a mustard colored heel... Yet!

Trashy Diva
Trashy Diva

Trashy Diva has no shortage of cuteness, but these are my current favorites.  I've been dying to get my hands on that gingham dress for Bianca.  I will not rest until she has all the Rockabilly Baby dresses!

What are you looking forward to this season?  What's on your wish list?  Let me know in the comments below!

Tuesday Rose

MAK Modcloth Dream Of The Crop Cardigan In Baton Rouge Tuesday Rose Vintage Floral Skirt

It's been discussed here before, but I have beautifully curated closet of vintage clothing that rarely sees the light of day.  I've been collecting vintage for longer than I can remember, but I have a weird attachment to these pieces.  There's something about not wanting to wear them out or damage them that gives me these irrational fears.  But when your friend Sammi buys you the vintage skirt of your dreams for your birthday, it deserves its time out of the exclusive closet!

My mom has been in town for the last week and I've seen her pretty much every day.  She only lives about two hours away, but she also travels a lot so our schedules rarely match to get together.  It's been so nice to have her here spending time with Bianca.  My little lady is very attached to her so she's been enjoying every minute.  She's leaving on Saturday, but I'm considering a trip down to her place next week.  Her birthday is on Monday and it would be fun to get away and celebrate with her!  We will see what happens, traveling two hours in a car with a toddler and three dogs is not an easy feat!

Apple Tart

Trashy Diva Apple Tart Dress in Seersucker

I don't think I've ever been so happy to see a Monday!  We've been full of home projects over the last month, but they've all been done by professionals.  On Saturday we decided to go about a small project by ourselves and it was quite a process.  Let me just say that I think we're going to keep our future projects farther on the horizon and out of our hands.  Thankfully, my mom was in town and took Bianca for the afternoon on Sunday.  It was much needed time off: from Bianca and the home renovations!

This Apple Tart dress has been on my wishlist for about a year.  It's been sold out in my size forever but they've recently restocked their Seersucker collection, so I obviously jumped on it!  While I may not be from the south, I have a soft spot for seersucker.  This dress is light, comfortable, and has the cutest features.  I was initially attracted to the ruffled bust (which I still love), but the full skirt and the deep pockets really won me over.  I heard from other ladies that the straps were too long, but because of my long torso the straps were the perfect fit.  I went with my usual Trashy Diva size, but due to the give in the fabric, I could have easily sized down.  Now I'm trying to tell myself that I don't need anymore seersucker, but I feel like this is the first piece to my growing collection!

Daisy Meadow

Bernie Dexter Paris Dress in Daisy Print

Since today is St. Partick's Day, I figured this would be the best time to debut this gorgeous dress!  Bernie Dexter is the queen of mid-century style and I've praised her designs (especially her Paris dress) for years.  Unique Vintage always has the best selection of her products and they seem to get them before anyone else.  This is important information because you know you want to be the first one with the pretty dress!

I have about seven or eight of these Paris dresses, but I can tell you that this one is different.  The fabric is nice and heavy but smooth and comfortable.  As someone who is constantly between sizes, I tend to size up in this style for the bust.  I'm glad I did because this dress fits like a glove!  The gathered bust also has elastic at the top so it can accommodate a range of sizes.  The skirt is super full (definitely twirl-worthy) and has side pockets.  It's the perfect statement piece for this fun holiday and the spring season ahead!

This weekend is suprisingly work-free so I'm trying to figure out something fun to do with the family.  I've been dying to go to the San Diego Wild Animal Park because Bianca loves all the animals.  I could go to the Los Angeles or Santa Barbara Zoo, but I'm strongly against keeping wild animals in captivity and I want to teach Bianca to respect them.  San Diego is a good 2-4 hours away (depending on traffic) so it's definitely a trip!  I don't know if we'll be able to make it this weekend, but fingers crossed we can.  I just can't wait to see Bianca's face when she sees an elephant in real life!

Afternoon In Paris

Pinup Girl Clothing Pinup Couture Peasant Top in Baton Rouge Pinup Couture Jenny Skirt in Novelty Paris Print

I'm just over here enjoying the spring weather to the fullest.  Before it gets unbearably hot (which will probably be in a few weeks), I like to get Bianca out during the day to play in the many parks in our area.  This particular park is my favorite, probably because it also doubles as a gorgeous photo location.  So while I snap these photos, Bianca is having the time of her life on the jungle gym.  It's all about multi-tasking!

I purchased this Paris print skirt last year from a lovely lady online.  It was two sizes too big, but a wonderful friend of mine took it in for me.  I wear it all time, so I was surprised when I realized I've never blogged it!  The print is just divine, and I love the ever so soft pink background mixed with the bright colored print.  This time I chose to wear it with my baton rouge peasant top, but I've paired it with chartreuse, teal, gold, and even striped tops!  It's just a magical skirt, it goes with everything.  While this was (and I guess is) considered a long lost unicorn, it will be back on the site soon!  Keep those eyes peeled if you've been wanting one yourself :).

Zebra Bows

Trashy Diva Annette Dress in Zebra Bows Rockabilly Baby Annie dress in Zebra Bows

I think I say this every time, but taking pictures with a now two year old Bianca is hard!  I dread having to do it, but then realize how much I love capturing these memories and posting them here.  As an ameture photographer, I know what times of day capture the best lighting for optimal photos.  But as an expert mommy, I know I can't wait for those times.  We get them done when she's in the best of moods and I entice her with candy (or on this particular day, a visit with the Easter Bunny).

Trashy Diva has stolen my heart, especially with their Rockabilly Baby line.  As much as I love putting their gorgeous and impeccably made clothing on myself, it makes me even happier to have the opportunity to put Bianca in them as well.  We don't usually match our outfits, but I love that we can!  These Zebra Bows dresses are made from a high quality cotton voile, which means we can wear them for the expected sweltering summer ahead.  I put Bianca's dress on first and she was so exited to wear it.  But when she saw me put on the same dress she nearly lost her mind!  She then picked out both of our shoes (I'm not even joking) and we were off to the park, where we received an infinite amount of compliments.  I can honestly say I'll probably remember this day forever!

Mid Century BBQ

Bernie Dexter Trixie Skirt in Mid Century BBQ Print

Life is way too short so you should wear what you want!  I topped this 50's style skirt from Bernie Dexter with a full on 60's style bell sleeved crop top.  And you know what?  I couldn't be happier with the result.  I actually own the matching top to this skirt, but it's just not warm enough to wear it yet.  This outfit is perfect for my everyday life, which in this case included a trip to the park, the grocery store, and a homemade pizza lunch with Bianca.

This week has been kind of hectic so far.  With home renovations, a new job schedule, and some continued health issues, I feel like I've barely had time to myself!  I'm a creature of habit and I hate when my day to day schedule changes.  I'm getting through it, but I'd ideally like to get some routine back into my life.  Tell me I'm not the only crazy one!
