Three Roses

Bernie Dexter Rose Pin Up dress in red dog print 004

This dress, by far, is the most worn piece in my closet.  I pay extra special attention to it because it fits well, is super comfortable, and has chihuahuas printed on it.  I was actually saving this outfit for a special shoot.  I wanted to go somewhere cool and take my three boys with me, but that has been nearly impossible.  Heck, this one picture alone was tough enough!  I've never been able to take a picture with the three of them actually looking at the camera but I think that would be asking too much of a dog.  Anyway, this was the result and I'm pretty happy with it.

I'm going to a birthday/Halloween costume party this weekend.  While I kind of had a Belle costume put together to match Bianca, it's not an actual costume.  I'm thinking about wearing my Hell Bunny polka dot skirt with a long sleeved black crop top and my Minnie Mouse ears from Disneyland.  I haven't worn them since I went a year and a half ago with Jessica (has it really been that long?!) so it might be nice to dust them off for the party.  I don't really like wearing costumes at all, but it's a night out with Kevin and our friends so I'll take it!

I'm pretty proud of myself because I have resisted the urge to cut my growing bangs this long.  Now they are past my eyes, but they still don't look good swept aside.  I just take my flat iron and curl them under the best that I can.  I'm sure it looks ridiculous but I can't think of any other way to make them look presentable!  If you have any tips or tricks, please let me know :).

xoxo

  3. Gah you look so pretty. I just love this dress on you. I always use a round brush on my bangs (I have a larger one for blow drying and then a smaller barrel one for fixing), which helped a lot when my bangs were longer!

    1. Ohhh that's a good idea! I have a huge round brush for blow outs (which I never actually do) but I should get a smaller one for my bangs. Thanks!

  4. I've been drooling over that dress for the longest time on ModCloth! It looks gorgeous on you and that picture with your three fur babies is too cute for words ♡

    1. Thank you, Nina! It's actually different from the one Modcloth used to sell. It has little cap sleeves and full back coverage so I can wear a regular bra with it. Plus, it has the same exact adorable print. Match made in heaven!

  6. You look adorable... I'm a sucker for that kind of prints. Also, it adds a playful edge to the 1950s classic silhouette!

  8. Your hair is looking totally amazing at the moment with the purple subtly becoming pink!

I know what you mean about having a dress you want to save for an amazing shoot. My most fave fabulous dresses never seem to turn out that well in photos. Ugh - karma, I guess!

  9. Ah this dress is just everything I could ever dream of in a dress - it's halterneck, sweetheart neckline, big full skirt, red and it has DOGS on it. Dogs! I absolutely love the first photo - if I had my way all photos in the world would feature dogs. Is it coming through that I'm a crazy dog lady yet..? And your hair always looks perfect to me! I have quite long bangs (that feels weird for me to say as a Brit), and I use my normal straighteners to mould and curl them under and over to the side... I find it super easy and it holds all day, but perhaps it's because I've been doing it for over s decade!! CC x

  10. The shape of that dress is so flattering on you! I love the way the bust is cut. It almost looks like it was made for you! And your little chihuahuas are just the sweetest things! (:

  11. There are no words to describe how much I love your dress. Beautiful cut, beautiful red color, and printed with DOGS. Enough said! You look beautiful and your dogs are so cute! I have a hard time getting my dog to look at the camera when I pose with her, I can imagine how much harder THREE would be! Hope you have fun at the Halloween party!

  12. Ah, that is such a cute dress! I'm not a huge dog person (I like dogs, but I prefer cats), but your little guys are SO adorable! Haha, it would be a miracle to get three animals to look at the camera at the same time!
And as far as bangs go, lately I've taken to braiding them out of the way in a small braid to the side, or doing a victory-roll type thing with them and some longer hair (And lots of hairspray) just in the front. I hate the growing out phase of bangs. It can get so awkward! But I think you still look fantastic!

  14. Aw what a cute pic with your pups! I'm not sure how you finagled that :) I love that print and the dress contrasts perfectly with your hair! We are going to a Halloween party this weekend too- so excited! Have fun at yours!

  15. Ah! THis is the most adorable picture ever (I called my husband over to see the photo of all your puppies too!)

This dress is just perfect for it. There is something strangely compelling about getting clothing with the breed of your dog on it, isn't there?
