Seven Days

satinshirt2

Okay, so I haven't really been updating you on my wedding lately.  For one, I know I'm probably the only one excited.  And two, wedding planning is terrible.  I wish I were one of those girls who dreamed about this day since I was five.  It's just not my thing.  So thankfully, Kevin and I decided to get married in Santa Barbara NEXT WEEK.  We only started making plans two weeks ago and honestly, it's been the most progress we've had in months.  It's going to be small, romantic, short, and sweet.  This is definitely something I could get on board with!

The wedding dress I posted a few months ago will actually go unworn.  Since we are getting married at a courthouse on the beach, I decided to wear a 3/4 sleeve short white dress with a petticoat underneath.  I'm excited to have a vintage inspired outfit, but I'm really bummed my dream dress didn't fit with our plans.  When I think about my near future (buying a house), sacrificing a wedding with more than eight guests and any type of honeymoon is worth it.  I've always been focused on the road ahead and owning a home really is one of my dreams.  Much more a dream than a big wedding!

xoxo

  2. How exciting about the wedding! My husband and I eloped. There were only 4 people, us and the justice of the peace. I loved it. I wore my sister's graduation dress as that was all we had at the time. It didn't matter to me what I wore really. I can look back on that moment and know that I just loved every second of it.

I can't wait to see what you have decided to wear. It sounds perfect.

  5. You look beautiful, I love that skirt. Ahh getting married in one week, I'm really excited for you. And honestly, a wedding is for you and your husband to be, so whatever you two feel is right is what's important! You can always have a reception/party later down the road when the time is right! :)

  7. Wow, that is so exciting for you! We didn't spend much on our wedding either, I agree it isn't worth the money a lot of people spend on a huge affair. You look so darling here! I love how swingy that skirt is :)

  17. Wow. As someone planning a wedding right now I am really impressed with your three weeks plan! My fiance's parents did their wedding in 10 and I thought it was incredible! but that's because his Dad was working on ships and was going to be at sea for a long time. They wanted to get hitched whilst he was on shore so went for it.

I'm having a pretty long engagement and then doing an outdoors wedding in a ruined abbey and trashing lots of traditions - but still keeping it pretty big. I never dreamed about planning the big day, but to me celebrating with all my friends (and lots of dancing) is a huge aspect. I really respect and love it when people have a wedding that is perfect for them despite the Wedding Industry. :) I love hearing about every wedding because I love happiness. At the end of the day it is is commiting to the one you love that is important.

  18. You are not the only one excited; I've been dying to hear more about your wedding and future plans (house shopping! Exciting!). It is too bad the dress you originally thought of didn't fit, but the current one sounds beautiful. Plus, romantic, short and sweet sounds very lovely.

(and yes, wedding planning is nuts. Though I probably should still actually do some of it at some point...)

  27. Aw that's great...and very romantic Ashley! Wedding planning is no joke and can definitely be very stressful - which really takes away from what it should really be about. Happy for you!

  38. Your wedding plans sound wonderful! It's everything a wedding should be. I would be the first one to get carried away with wedding plans, but honestly... So much planning, so much stress, so much MONEY that would perhaps be better spent on more durable things, like a home. You've hit the nail on the head. I really am so excited for you. I hope you'll share some pictures with us!!

On an unrelated note, those tights are so freakin' awesome! I love the color and how perfectly they fit. I'm incapable of putting on tights without breaking them with my nails. I mean, I used to wear pantyhose all the time as a little girl in the 90's. You'd think I'd remember how to put on a pair of tights. Maybe it's not my nails that's the problem.. Maybe it's the quality of the tights? Who knows. Did you get these a really long time ago?
