If blogging has shown me anything, it's truly how picky I am or maybe have become. When I started I had a point and shoot and truly knew nothing about photography. Thanks to practice, research, and Jessica's blog series I've become more seasoned. That doesn't mean I don't have off days though. I went out and scouted a location for these photos only to have the weirdest lighting ever. I tried several angles and each photo looked more off than the last. Since I had to get home to my husband and baby, I just went with it and went on my way. If this had happened just a year ago I would've either taken my time or gone at a better time or day. Priorities have changed so these ones went up. I do look forward to doing a much better remix in the future though :).

I absolutely love this pretty pink dress. You can't tell from afar but it has the cutest Eiffel tower print. The skirt isn't as full as most of my Bernie dresses but it's still a great everyday piece. I'm already trying to plan warmer outfits around it, but let's face it, "fall" won't be here until close to November.
Last weekend I went out alone to the nail salon. Kevin treated me to a mani/pedi, my first since having Bianca! I opted for gel polish so it would last more than a few days. I miss painting my fingernails so much but I literally do not have the time to allow them to dry. It's truly a shame because I have over a hundred bottles of nail polish. Maybe I can get back into it in a few years. Until then I'll just wait for the occasional spa treatment :).

That print has always been one of my favorite from Bernie Dexter. I love the pink and yellow together.
ReplyDeleteOk tried to post a comment, but I'm not sure if it worked (if it did, feel free to delete, lol)... I think the lighting looks really nice in these (but I am on a PC, which skews the lighting in a strange way), and I love this dress on you. The print is perfect with your hair!

The colors look so great with your hair. I love that fabric. I see it online all the time and can't pick out a favorite version.
ReplyDeleteThis is a delightful "pink lemonade" dress! I love the subtle eiffel tower print, it adds a lot. I rarely get mani-pedis so I forget how great they are - I went recently with my mom and sister, and it was a lovely treat. Someday you and Bianca will be going together and you can tell her about the days you didn't have time for your nails to dry :)

LOL. One of my friend's sister said the #1 thing to do before having a baby is paint your nails, because you'll never have time to do it after. :D That same friend is big into gel nail polish. I can't really justify it as I, like you, have dozens of bottles of OPI lying around that I really need to use instead! :D
ReplyDeleteAnd, of course, beautiful dress! Thanks for the tip as I am now off to read Jessica's series as her photos are always top notch. :D

Love this dress! I like that you posted these photos despite the imperfect lighting, your attitude is so gracious and humble - inspiring :)

I love your dress, despite the "lighting issues."
ReplyDeleteI totally know what you mean. I can't even look at my old blog photos without cringing. They were taken with a point and shoot AND in direct sunlight. Awful!

I love the shoes you paired with this! Really cool combination :) I also love all your Bernie dresses-this one is high on my wish list!

Ha I hate outside lighting....and what I hate more is strangers/neighbors looking at me wondering WTH?
ReplyDeleteI haven't mastered the art of picture taking...and I think I never will really. So it's okay..don't worry about your pictures...:-)
You need a quick drying top coat! I'd be pretty devastated if I couldn't paint my nails. I'm kind of addicted.
ReplyDeleteAlso you look magical in this pink dress. I love how it looks with your pink hair and it's super flattering too. I don't think these pictures turned out bad at all either, so don't worry!

I love your dress! It's perfect with your hair :D
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely dress! Goes so well with your beautiful hair!
ReplyDeleteKisses! :)
Gorgeous dress! And I just got my first professional pedicure in 10 years this week--spa-like treatments are definitely a good kind of treat!
ReplyDeleteMama's gotta treat themselves too! I love gel manis, although they kind of destroy my nails when I get them removed. :( Love the dress, the less full skirt can be kind of nice sometimes. It's too bad about the funky lighting (although I wouldn't have noticed anything if you hadn't mentioned it), but you still look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet thing for Kevin to do.
ReplyDeleteIt is so interesting to see how bloggers are able to grow and change their blogging abilities, though I think the light seems fine here. As always you in pink with pink hair is fun!
I have had my eye on that exact dress for awhile now. Want it so much, it's perfect. So gorgeous with your hair.
ReplyDeleteI actually think the lighting of these photos is quite atmospheric! But I know what you mean, it can do such strange things to photos. I still have the luxury of reshooting... Although I don't always realise until it's too late! I love the print on this dress - and that it's so subtle from a distance. The perfect Parisian print! And you look gorgeous, of course x
ReplyDeleteI think these are good photos! It is funny how we get pickier through blogging- or I guess it means we grow. I hate when I don't like how pics turned out but don't realize til they're on the computer. Love the pink on pink and I didn't even notice that was an eiffel tower print, which makes it even better. How awesome that you got the mani/pedi, and 100 bottles of nail polish?? Whoa! I own like 10 shades of blue and then maybe 3 other colors- haha :)
ReplyDeleteAww! I just posted about my experience seeing the eiffel tower for the first time too!! I am so happy for you that you finally had time to pamper your nails =) For us girls, it is THE MOST therapeutic thing! I am unable to paint my nails by myself lately either and its been frustrating! LOVE your look!! =)

You look beautiful. Pink is still 100% your color and I am so glad that I've helped inspire you :) Especially considering you are such an inspiration to me! Your photos have always been great -- even when taken in your apartment alley. Which I sometimes miss!
ReplyDeleteI don't think there is anything off about your photos! :D You look super adorable. Can't get enough Bernie <3. How nice that hubby treated you to a mani/pedi! I remember seeing that post on Instagram :)

I adore your look, the pink dress and hair are darling! ♡ I totally understand the frustrations of poor lighting though ~ being a mother of two {and a half on the way!} you just have to take time where you find it and be glad! Though I've had to scrap at least one outfit shoot because there simply weren't any photos that worked in the slightest. : /
ReplyDeleteAnd that being said, I am all about the gel polish. When I did have the time to finally sit down and paint my nails, IF I was lucky enough get them dry without smudging, smearing or being scraped right off{!} ~ I inevitably chipped them the very next day so they'd only last 4-5 days!
It just wasn't worth it... But gels! Yay! My manicure lasts at least two weeks ~ most often three. I really can't get over how cool that is!
