Proud of You

lilacdress3

Oh, this dress.  We have such a love/hate relationship.  I had it made years ago for a wedding and I ended up losing too much weight during the process.  I loved it too much to give it away so it's been hidden in my closet ever since.  I figured since I've gained about four pounds now it would probably look better.  While it does look better, it still looks off.  I think I'm just going to wait until I gain a little more and try again.  I refuse to give up on this dress!

If you know me in real life, you know I'm not in any way political.  I tend to stay out of most issues because I just don't have that much emotion invested in them.  But yesterday I was overcome with happiness when I found out that DOMA was done and Prop 8 was considered unconstitutional in California.  I've always been an advocate for equal rights and it was such an overwhelming feeling when our state once again institutionalized marriage for everyone.  I'm so proud of California right now!

I hope you're having a lovely (almost) end of the week.  I'm going to a really big wedding on Saturday and I haven't nailed down what I want to do with my hair.  I have a feeling I'll be practicing some sorts of updos tomorrow night!

  9. I can see why you wanted to keep this. It is so lovely! and unique.

Gay marriage has been possible here for a while now. I never understood what the big deal was. Everyone should be able to get married if they want to. Who are we to judge?

  12. Wow. A few things.
First - I NEED to see you when you're a sweet pregnant mama. ASAP. So I can be there when your beautiful bean is BORN. Second, LOVE this dress and can't wait till you're preggo enough to fit it better (is that weird? An insult? I don't mean it as one!!! It's just so lovely!) and three, I also don't like to get involved in politics, but I am also SO proud of CA right now. My cousin is having a wedding next month to her fiance (both amazing women) and now it can be a LEGAL wedding!!!! <3

  20. You must never give up on that dress, it's gorgeous! I love the soft shade, the bow and the ruffles. Good to hear that your state reached such a desirable political outcome. I usually don't invest much emotion into political opinion either but this week was the one time I did too when we had the prime minister change.
