Full of Joy

daisytop 6

Am I the only one obsessed with the crop top/high waist bottom this summer?  I rarely wear anything but a great dress, but this combo has me exploring other options.  Thanks to Kristian, I got to wear her gorgeous circle skirt during one of our triple digit days.  It goes quite perfectly with a petticoat but it was much too hot for that many layers.  I like to keep it simple when it comes to sweltering heat!

Well, Bianca officially knows how to throw a tantrum.  She acts like an absolute crazy person when she isn't getting what she wants.  Now that she's a bit older and understands that I'm not leaving her, I've decided to let her cry those tantrums out.  My fear is having "that child" you see in the grocery store so I'm curbing her bratty behavior now.  It's been really loud in this house, but I'm sure she will understand with time that this method is not going to work in the future.  Until then, I should probably invest in some ear plugs...

  1. I'm totally late to the party, but I just recently started getting into separates. I'd totally try a crop top, but most that I have come across are either too short, or too expensive. I cannot believe you got this one at Target! It looks so adorable with the matching skirt, as well as this black one (:

  2. I think you've seen from my blog that you're not the only one loving the crop top-high waist ensemble right now! But oh, to have weather hot enough to not need a million extra layers... The UK should surely be the home of the petticoat! CC

  3. So cute! I don't have any crop tops, but I just got a black skirt the same shape as this one and have been thinking that I may need one to pair it with! You look amazing in this outfit and I am loving your hair. I know it can definitely be annoying and frustrating to hear Bianca cry, but you are making the right choice to bust that habit now! Yes, some ear plugs are probably a good idea :)

  5. I love the way you styled Kristian's skirt! I, too, am obsessed with the crop top & high waisted skirt combo this season. The high waist skirt, especially with full circle skirts, is so amazing for hiding food babies. haha ;)

  7. You are stunning. Seriously. I am really digging these longer cuts on you. I'm shocked that it took Bianca so long to figure out how to be dramatic like girls generally are, haha!

  11. I have yet to try separates with a skirt and crop top. I guess just the word crop top scares me a bit but I love seeing the outfits other bloggers put together rocking it!

  15. I certainly love the crop top with high waisted skirt trend. I still don’t have one because I can never find the right one. I keep my eye out for it though. Also love the blue shoes you’ve been wearing lately. Awww Bianca how cute….the tantrums probably are not for you…but it’s cute for us to read about.

  17. I discovered this silhouette last summer, and it changed the way I thought about clothes! I used to only wear dresses, and I'll still always love them the most, but for the first time in my life, I enjoy the flexibility of owning separates. This top/skirt combo looks great - the daisy pattern is so fun, and a black circle skirt is super versatile!
It's great that you're teaching Bianca that tantrums aren't the answer - parents who give in every time seem to end up with kids who never grow up. I wouldn't worry too much, though, since she's still so little! Who knows what she'll be like in a few months, especially if you're helping break the habit now? My heart goes out to your eardrums, though!

  18. I'm just starting to get into the crop top and high wait combo too. I haven't blogged any of these outfits (yet), but I posted a quick selfie on my Instagram the other day because I loved it so much!

Aw, Bianca is probably also aware that she's insanely adorable and can use that to her advantage. Hopefully, she'll ease up on that behaviour soon...

  19. Ah, Asa is getting into that stage, too! We're trying to let him cry it out and once he's stopped throwing a fit, we pick him up and see what's wrong (or look over to find he's fallen asleep because he was tired!) it's so tough getting through those moments, but it's worth it in the long run!
Crop tops and high waisted skirts are such a cute combo, I might just have to try it! I really don't want to show a lot of middle-skin, but I like the idea of not having to tuck it in at all! This outfit is so, so pretty!

  20. Whittt whoo, you look fit in this! I love the patten on that top and it's really flattering on you =)

Ahh, children going through the tantrum stage sounds like a disaster! I hope she grows out of it soon.
