Hearts on Fire

modress5

Well, yesterday was the last day of landscaping in the backyard.  I can't even begin to explain how relieved I am that it's all done!  It's been countless weeks of stress, money, and absolutely no privacy.  When you can't relax in your summertime pajamas in your own house without the fear of a "wardrobe malfunction" it starts to really wear on you.  Or maybe just me.  Anyway, I snapped these shots right before our landscaper's final day.  He cleaned up, filled the holes in our lawn from the application of the grass (as you can see above), and left us with a beautiful backyard.  I am one happy home owner!

This dress was one of the gems I got from the Modcloth Last Hurrah sale.  I spent fifty dollars on three dresses that would normally cost over two hundred dollars.  I can't resist a great deal, especially when I can add to my wardrobe!  I still haven't purchased any more maternity clothes (other than the three original dresses I bought from ASOS) and I've been surviving on my current wardrobe.  I decided to order these Modcloth dresses a size up and all three worked out perfectly.  Sometimes online shopping can be risky but I lucked out this time!  It will probably be the last time too.  As of now I'm officially saving every penny for my baby's nursery.  This is going to be tough...

Labor Day weekend is upon us which means there will be plenty of sales.  Are you planning on shopping this weekend?  Did you also come up on the Last Hurrah sale?  I know this sounds odd, but with my curbed spending I'll be shopping vicariously through others :)

xoxo

  1. Hooray for a beautiful backyard! Love your dress, I usually have problems with ModCloth dresses being a tad to short for me, but this one looks nice on you!

  3. I didn't get anything from the Last Hurrah sale as the order I'd made previously still hadn't arrived. It was my first order from Modcltoh and I was concerned about sizing and didn't want to buy more without confirming the first lot fit!
I'm in Australia so it took 3 or 4 weeks for my order to get here. As it turns out everything I bought fits well and now I'm super bummed I didn't buy more! But there's always next time.

  9. Great dress! Congrats on your new garden too :)
I wish Modcloth could be imported cheaper in to the UK! But then, I think my bank account may not :)

  18. I love the bump and I love the checked lawn! So precious. I bet you're TOO happy to have all the yard done, so you can actually live outside. It's gonna get really nice out, soon. :D I can't wait for Fall. I probably won't be doing any shopping this weekend :( especially since we'll have baby boy around, but next weekend I think I'm going on a thrifting adventure! You can live through me then ;)

  19. Your backyard looks so good and so does your hair (nothing new). Is your header smaller? Your blog looks different. Anyways, ModCloth sales are the BEST. I somehow only got one dress. My dream dress was only in stock at an XL and I couldn't bring myself to purchase it and alter it. I know I'm too lazy. But this dress looks wonderful on you. So cute. I hope you share photos of the baby room when it's done.

And to answer your question: I want to wear the extensions, but my ends are still dark? There is still a lot of brown in my hair -- my hairstylist has this really crazy technique where she tones chunks after the color is washed out -- which leaves me with golden highlights. They're pretty great, but not so great for matching extensions. They match the top, but my ends are so damn DARK and since I don't know anything about hair color/dying I'm not even sure what color I could use on the extensions.

  21. That dress is so pretty and colorful!! By the time I came across the Last Hurrah sale, the selection in my size was very limited. :( Oh well! I've never actually been brave enough to buy a dress from Modcloth...shopping online is more intimidating than shopping in real life!

  25. You look so beautiful in this dress :) That's so awesome that you got all those dresses for so cheap. I walked into Urban Outfitters on my lunch break today just to "look around" but all of their sale items were an extra 30% off so I couldn't resist buying three items for $45 that would have been over $100 at their original prices. It didn't even occur to me that there would be sales because of the holiday but now it makes so much sense. And yay for your new backyard. That must be so nice to have.

  26. I'm loving the colors of your dress and how they look with your hair.

All the better that you scored it as part of a super amazing deal. It always just makes the pretty dress that much better! :)

  31. I missed out on the ModCloth sale, BUT I've gotten tons of stuff from them in the past. They really mark stuff down for those sales. You look awesome!

Glad your yard is done! I'm so tired of living in an apartment, I want to be a homeowner!!!

I don't think I'll be doing any shopping this weekend. I have money set aside for shopping OR a mani/pedi and I think I need the mani/pedi more.

Have a happy long weekend! If you're off!
