Happy Sunday! I hope you're enjoying your weekend. Most people in the states get to enjoy a three day weekend thanks to Labor Day. While I have Monday off, I worked yesterday so it kind of feels like a regular old weekend. I'm just thankful to have a few days to relax and be off my feet as much as possible.
On Friday night I went to my first ever quinceanera. A friend at work had one for his daughter and I couldn't believe how much work is put into this occasion. It pretty much has the same aspects to a wedding. The dresses, the venue, the band, the father/daughter dance, it was all very sweet and reminded me of the many weddings I went to over the summer. It's interesting to experience an event of a different culture. I'm always in awe how different things can be depending on where your family is from. I was just honored and happy to be invited to such a momentous occasion.
Dress- Modcloth
Shoes- Target
Ring- Betsey Johnson
Bag- Betsey Johnson
Necklace- Forever 21
This was the outfit I wore for the quinceanera. It was over 100 degrees that day so I decided to put on something light and airy. While I was a little under dressed, I was completely comfortable. I also styled my hair with heat curlers. I've always been faithful to my curling wand but I actually really like the results of the curlers. I may have burned myself a few times during the application though. I guess there's a bit of a learning curve!
xoxo

Your hair! What are heat curlers? I am the most clueless girl. But whatever, because your hair looks really full and editorial-esque. I'm making up words now. This dress is really great on you! I think blue works really well with your skin/hair. And that event (i'm not going to try and spell it) sounds like a lot of fun. I worked Saturday and work tomorrow, so no long weekend for me either.
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic- gorgeous colors on you. Romantic colors, somehow.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to a quinceanera but have seen quite a few- it is still quite common here, if celebrating one, to parade through town with the girl in her pink dress on a horse or donkey! Growing up, I found it interesting that the girls were not supposed to wear make-up till they turned 15 (ironic as the girl who was tell us this was the middle school's local make-up guru. She immediately pointed out she didn't follow this rule!) I imagine it would be a fun event to attend though.
Ashley the pregnancy looks so good on you, it makes you shine like a star. What fun flirty print, very darling dress. Plus love your new hair colour :-)

ReplyDeleteYour hair and your dress are gorgeous!! I've never been to a quinceanera before, buy my husband was part of the 'court' or 'attendants' for several of his cousins quinceaneras...and from the looks of the pictures, he was more dressed up for that role than he was dressed up in our own wedding!
ReplyDeleteLovely as always dear!

I don't have a clue how to use any type of curlers, so I'd be curious to learn a bit more about this once you've figured out some of the tricks of the trade.
ReplyDeleteThat dress looks fabulous on you and I'm sure you had a great time! I'd think being pregnant is a good excuse for being "underdressed," even though I'm sure it was perfect.
