Pinup Girl Clothing Deadly Dames Darling Dames Skirt in Venus Fly Trap Print

I think I may have been one of the only ladies who wasn't eager to get my hands on this venus fly trap skirt... Initially.  As big of a fan of Micheline Pitt's prints as I am (I'm pretty sure I own them all), there was something about it that made me feel hesitant to get one.  When I received my monster print Darling Dames skirt a few weeks ago (seen here), I realized how much I love the new shorter length and the pockets.  So naturally, I wanted to get a few prints to add to my wardrobe.  This print is much more beautiful in person and I'm happy pushed away my hesitation and went for it!

My only issue with this skirt?  The waistband is nowhere near as "stiff" as the waistband in the Jenny skirt.  If you're curious what that means, feel free to take a closer look at the first picture.  As much as I didn't want to include a picture of the twisted band, I feel like I need to be up front about it.  My other Darling Dames skirts do that as well, unfortunately.  I've tried starching and ironing them down, but they all eventually fold over themselves.  If you have any suggestions on how to make them a bit more rigid, please let me know!

I'm working over at the boutique today, but these past two days were filled with lots of family fun.  As you may know, this is a rare occurrence!  On Friday, Kevin, Bianca, and I went to Knott's Berry Farm for the day.  Bianca was so excited for all the kiddie rides (especially the roller coaster!) and I was just happy to see her enjoying herself.  Yesterday we attended a birthday party at one of the most fun-filled indoor playgrounds I've ever been to.  Since Bianca is too young to ride the big slides by herself, Kevin and I had the pleasure of joining her.  It was like we were kids again!  I'm sure she was happy to have both her parents with her for two whole days.  I know I appreciated it and hope it happens more often!

xoxo

  1. What fun family outings!

Also- the skirt is fun. It has me humming all the songs from Little Shop of Horrors.

  2. Need need need need. This skirt is the best ever! Little Shop of Horrors is my all time favorite movie in the land so this would be so perfect for me. It's definitely on my wish list. I'm loving how you styled it with the blue top. The color contrast is super pretty.

  3. Ugh waistbands are a pain but I usually throw a belt over ones that are pesky like this! I love the top you decided to pair with it - the color goes really well with the purple!

  4. I just ordered that skirt, I've been waiting for it to be available for (what feels like) forever. I love your color combo, I would have never thought of that. I think a belt over the waistband might help with the folding. Are you wearing a pettiskirt with it, if you don't mind me asking? Have you tried the canvas underskirt PUG sells? I'm looking for something to give my Jennys a little structure without being fluffy.

    1. Hahaha yeah, the colors in the fabric were being perfected. It was worth the wait! I'm not wearing anything underneath it. The Darling Dames skirts are really poofy on their own, unlike the Jenny. But I do own two underskirts (in case one is at the cleaners) and I love them SO much. They are worth every penny!

  6. This skirt is gorgeous! I totally didn't notice the waistband until you mentioned it but I can see how it would be annoying. I have some (non-PUG) skirts that do it and it irritates the life out of me. I hope you find a solution! haha x
