Ikebana For All

Modcloth Ikebana For All skirt

I'm back at it again, showing you another spring inspired outfit from Modcloth!  This skirt has been on my wish list for years, but because I tend to wear more dresses, it's sat there all this time.  One of my personal style resolutions this year was to wear more separates.  Now is a better time than ever to stick to it!  In my mind, mixing prints (especially florals) is the perfect way to welcome spring.

Modcloth asked me to show you my version of an outfit fit for a music festival, so I immediately went back to the days when Kevin worked in the industry.  When I wear separates I love the crop top/high waist skirt combo.  It's flattering on every shape/size and it's subtly sexy (I feel so weird when I use that word!).  I don't wear sandals, but a comfortable pair of cute open toed mini heels works perfectly.  Of course, a full flower crown and a sparkly brooch finishes my look and keeps me to my other resolution: Wearing more accessories!  To shop this exact outfit, check out the widget below :).

This week has been pretty rough on me.  I've been stressed, which kicks in my insomnia, which then keeps me really tired.  I think it's just life's way of reminding me how wonderful my life truly is.  It's rare when something gets me down but when it does, it shows me how few and far between these moments truly are.  I know this time will pass, I guess I just need to thrive though it.  Here's to hoping the weekend has some better things in store!

xoxo

  1. I love the way you put separates together - I never think to mix bold patterns like this, but you're totally pulling it off! Considering I much more often wear separates than dresses, that's a pretty poor show on my part, really... sorry to hear you're battling with insomnia - I have the exact same stress/no sleep cycles. But they do usually pass so hope yours moves along swiftly! CC x

    1. Awww thank you! You're always so sweet. I love mixing prints/textures and I think it's most apparent when I wear separates. I'm also glad I'm not alone in the insomnia club :).

  5. So cute! I love florals and stripes together, and you wear flower crowns like no one else.
Have you ever played a game called Katamari? I can't see the word Ikebana without thinking of my favorite level, where you have to collect all the flowers.

  9. Dang girl! You are killin' it once again! I love the floral crown paired with the striped seperates and the floral skirt! I'm diggin' this look all day, everyday! I hear you on "being down" once in awhile... it happens to the best of us. I'm feeling it now more than ever because it's been raining non stop for about a week here and no sunshine! Ugh.... you look good though if that makes you feel any better. Lol!
Do you sell your floral crowns? Everytime I see your creations I smile!
