I love Galentine's Day. For those of you who don't watch Parks and Rec (why?!) it's this Friday, February 13th. It's all about celebrating the women in your life. I love the concept because I'm pretty sure I have the most amazing women surrounding me. Whether it be my sister, my friends, and obviously Bianca, I'm pretty sure I'm the luckiest lady alive. Lately I've been thinking about traditions to start with Bianca and Galentine's Day will definitely be one of them. She's going to learn early on that she doesn't need validation from a boy to enjoy a holiday!
Dress- Modcloth
Shoes- H&M (similar)
Petticoat- Unique Vintage
Belt- From another dress
Necklace- UrbanOG
Bracelet- Swarovski
Bianca's outfit- Carter's
The last time I wore this dress I was five months pregnant. It fit me much better back then and I'm incredibly sad it doesn't now. It's very well constructed with lots of structure and boning in the bodice but that also makes it hard to conform to my body. I obviously haven't given up on it yet! There's a wonderful girl I work with who does alterations and I'm thinking this one could be her next project...
This new year has already been exhausting but incredibly rewarding. I don't want to jinx myself here, but I feel like the future looks really bright for my family and myself. I can' remember the last time Kevin or I had a few hours alone but the hard work will pay off! What's a reward without the struggle to receive it, right?

Ah your Bianca's little grin, so precious!
ReplyDeleteThis post is SO sweet, and I love these photos of you and BB! I wish I had more lady friends around to celebrate Galentine's Day with, but I'll be celebrating with you from afar <3 and this dress is so cool! I'm sure it's big on you now, but it still looks really good. I've actually had a few dresses ruined from alterations (I tried to get some of my size 12 stuff down to a size 8 with a seamstress and it really backfired), so I'm envious that you have someone good!

I don't watch Parks and Rec (I know, I know, I'm working on it), but I love the idea of Galentine's Day. It really is a great reminder to celebrate all the amazing women in your life, and it would be great if it picked up more steam as a holiday in and of itself.
ReplyDeleteYou two are so sweet, and I love that first photo of the two of you, looking off into the distance.
Such a sweet post!! Both of you look gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteoh those photos of you and your little girl...are wonderful! So beautiful!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a fab dress, worth getting it altered if you can? I really like the sentiment in this post, it's quite right that we don't need validation from boys! And what a lovely thing to teach your daughter. x
ReplyDeleteOh, I love these mommy/daughter photos! You look great here by the way; I am digging the hair.
ReplyDeleteA "Galentine's Day" sounds like a fun tradition. My family always make Valentines a fun day focussed not on romantic love but familial love and friendships too, which is nice.
I'm one of those heathens who haven't watch Parks and Rec, so finding out that Galentine's Day is a thing is interesting. Around the world it seems like a lot of countries celebrate International Women's Day (March 8th, this year, I think), and it seems like such a good idea to have a day to celebrate the women in your life, whether in February, March or when ever!
These photos are just gorgeous, you both look so happy and smitten to be hanging out together. Truly beautiful xx
ReplyDeleteAww these pictures are the cutest! I think making Galentine's Day a tradition with Bianca is the best idea ever. Also this dress is gorgeous and that's sad it doesn't fit as well anymore. It should be pretty easy to take in though!
