Hexing Heart

Unique Vintage Molly Swing Dress in Orange and Black Stripe

I hope you're not tired of seeing Halloween outfits in August because I have so many to get through!  This year I'm paying extra-special attention to Halloween because it's honestly getting me through this awful pandemic.  Fall and everything cute and spooky is always in my heart (and wardrobe) so it's nice to have shops like Unique Vintage releasing their collections early.  Their offerings are as vast as they are cute and my jaw dropped when I saw this Molly swing dress!  This dress was absolutely made for my little black heart and I love that you can also get a matching face mask.  Because let's be real: we all want to be that extra while we're being safe!

The Molly dress features ruffled spaghetti straps, a faux button down bodice, super full gathered skirt with hidden side pockets, and a back zippered closure.  The fabric is a nice crisp cotton that maintains its shape and can easily be worn with or without a petticoat.  I'm not a petticoat kind of girl anymore, but I know it would look absolutely gorgeous with some added fullness.  I'm wearing my usual size small in their Unique Vintage brand and the fit is great!  I considered cinching in the waist with a black belt but I didn't feel like I *needed* it.  This style is available in sizes XS-4X and is priced at $88.  I'm hoping the Molly makes a return again because I really do love this silhouette!

You can shop this dress and the rest of the Halloween collection on the Unique Vintage site right now!  They curated an amazing range of clothing, shoes, accessories, home goods and more.  They've also collaborated with the Beetlejuice estate and are offering some wonderful spooky goodies, which you can find HERE.  It's one of my favorite movies and I can't wait to show you some of the pieces I've picked up.  Stay tuned!

Gone Haunting

Samantha Pleet Haunting Dress

If you've been a reader here for more than a year, you'll be very familiar with my love for Halloween and my months-long preparation of the big event.  While we know Halloween will certainly be a bit different this year, I'll be making the most of it and celebrating the most wonderful time of the year the best way I know how.  My spooky wardrobe is ever-growing and worn all year long, so when I received this amazing Samantha Pleet dress for my birthday last year I was over the moon!  My husband surely knows the way to my heart and this dress is one of the prized items in my closet.

The Haunting dress is a gorgeous vintage inspired silhouette with custom artwork by NYC artist Jenna Gribbon.  It's made with a super soft rayon blend and features buttons down the front of the bodice, statement balloon sleeves with button cuffs, a tiered prairie-style skirt, and attached waist ties.  I'm wearing a size 2, which means this dress does run larger (I'm usually a 4 in most brands).  The waist is meant to be slouchy because the waist ties really cinch you in.  Since I did get this dress last year, it's no longer available online.  But there is a similar dress with the same print HERE.

I highly recommend shopping with Samantha Pleet.  This woman owned small business puts out high quality garments that are produced in small batches and made to last.  I also have to say that their customer service is top notch.  Samantha herself has taken care of my inquiries in the past and she is absolutely lovely!  These garments are priced on the higher side, but I tend to go for higher quality/less garments than have a bunch of things that won't last after a few washes.

You can check out all of Samantha Pleet's offerings (including kids clothing and face masks) HERE!

Woodlands

Erstwilder just released one of my favorite collections to date: Woodlands!  It's been about three years since they last did a woodland-inspired collection and I was overjoyed to hear that they were bringing all new designs this time.  The newest Woodlands collection is quite big: nineteen brooches, six pairs of earrings, two necklaces, and six scarves.  You can check out both my and Bianca's picks from this collection below!

One of our favorite parts of visiting Disneyland is watching the ducks, so obviously we needed to add this Ducks In A Row necklace and Mallard Ballard earrings to our collection!  The colors are so beautiful on these cuties and the earrings are incredibly detailed for being so small.  Bianca has worn this necklace almost everyday since she received it.  I didn't think anything would top her Care Bears necklace but I was wrong!

The toadstools in this range are my personal favorites.  I love that I was able to get a brooch, earrings, and a head scarf all in the same motif.  The marbled resins in the brooch are gorgeous and (again) the stud earrings are so detailed!  Gimme all the cute match-matchy jewelry sets!

You can shop the entire Woodlands collection on the Erstwilder website right now.  Make sure to grab your favorites while you can, these pieces won't last very long!  Which pieces are you favorites?  Let me know in the comments below!

Jungle Cruise

Emmy Design Sea Breeze Sundress Harvey's Jungle Cruise Little Tote

Being at home all the time has its perks (mainly my dogs and my air conditioner) but a couple of times a week I need to just get out and recharge.  I like to get dressed up and go to an open, socially distanced area and just enjoy the outdoors.  I recently received this gorgeous sundress from Emmy Design and it sparked a fun Disneybound idea: a vintage inspired Jungle Cruise outfit!  While I don't go on the ride every time I'm at the parks, I have vivid memories of the experience as a child and then taking Bianca on the cruise (before she was tall enough to go on the "big girl" rides).  I feel like this would be a perfect summer Disneyland outfit and while I can't actually be there right now, I'm still going to enjoy it!

The Sea Breeze sundress is a crepe material (it feels like rayon) that features a button shoulder detail that allows you to adjust the length of the bodice.  I'm quite long in the waist and I definitely did not need any more length but I appreciate the detail!  The bodice has a flattering neckline, underbust gathers, and a v-shaped drop waist.  The skirt is a flowy a-line with deep exposed side pockets and also features an attached waist tie.  This is actually my very first Emmy dress and I was blown away with the quality and incredible fit.  I'm wearing a 38, which translates to a UK10 or US6, and it's a little loose but comfortable.  The waist tie helps cinch in the waist, which I really appreciate.  I will probably order a 36 the next time I buy an Emmy dress, and let's be honest, I am absolutely going to add more Emmy to my closet!

I paired my dress with my new Jungle Cruise tote, some cute booties, and my favorite pink straw hat for the perfect Disney-inspired vintage look!  I haven't done much Disneybounding here on my blog lately but I definitely feel more inspired these days.  What kind of Disneybound would you like to see from me next?  Let me know in the comments below!
