Oriental Nights

I feel like this post is long overdue but I was having too much fun over the weekend.  For the first time in a long while, Kevin and I had the weekend to ourselves with no set plans (except for a family party).  We mostly ate terrible but yummy food, watched some bad tv, and enjoyed each others company with Bianca.  Time to get back to reality though, this week is filled with work, more birthday parties, and a girly date with a special blogging friend.  We're meeting today for lunch so make sure to follow me on Instagram to see what kind of shenanigans we get into!

Juicy Orange

There was once a time where I didn't want this skirt.  I didn't really like it at all.  For one, I'm a mom and getting dirty is a very real possibility all the time.  White really isn't my friend.  I also happen to own an orange print dress, so I figured I was all set in the orange department.  That is, until I was dressed in this exact outfit for my first photo shoot with Pinup Girl.  At the time the yellow peasant top didn't even exist (and I was so excited to wear something so perfect) but I couldn't get over how beautiful this top/skirt combo was.  So I immediately purchased this skirt and patiently awaited the release of this peasant top.  I now wear both of these pieces, both together and separate, all the time.  They are easily one of my favorites.  Sometimes you need to be shown the potential of a garment... At least that's how it was for me!

Maggie May

If you haven't noticed, I've been doing my best to get outside of my personal style comfort zone this year.  I'm playing with separates, wearing shorts, and incorporating wiggle dresses into my wardrobe.  I've been having so much fun experimenting with other styles and it feels kind of liberating to do something different.  It's like exercising a creative muscle that's been dormant for some time.  Without realizing it, I've become more comfortable in my body and I've come leaps and bounds from the lows I felt after I had Bianca.  Maybe it sounds dumb, but I'm really proud of myself!

Mermaid Lagoon

Yep, that's me.  In shorts.  I literally thought hell had to freeze over before I would wear shorts out in public.  I've always felt self conscious about my bottom half because it's quite bigger than the rest of my body.  But I'm really learning to embrace what I have and try new things.  These shorts are wonderful because the waist is nice and high, which is great for tucking in tops or wearing crop tops.  I also love the that the back of the waistband is elasticized, which means it won't gap or pucker when you sit down.  I actually purchased them in a couple of colors/prints, so expect to see more shorts here in the future!

Anchors Away!

You wouldn't be able to tell from these photos but it was raining!  92 degrees and raining, actually.  Overcast days are usually great for photography because you don't have to wait for the sun to go down.  But I do have a toddler so I had to get my timing was right.  Once we drove to the location and I started setting up my camera the rain settled in.  Instead of calling it a loss, I went ahead and pushed through.  It went mostly well, although I have a great amount of photos for a blooper reel!
