Sweet and Spooky with Besame Cosmetics

Like lots of other ladies, fall and the impending Halloween season is one of the best times of the year.  It kind of marks the beginning of the holiday season, which for me, can be kind of stressful.  That's why I take my Halloween fun seriously!  While wearing deeper shades might be expected, I wanted to create a sweet and spooky look with my Besame Cosmetics lipsticks.  If you're not familiar with Besame, they're a luxury makeup company with an eye for the vintage enthusiast.  I've been wearing liquid lipstick for years, so going back to a "normal" lipstick was a bit unnerving.  But when you have a beautiful, long wearing lipstick like Besame's, it makes the transition easy as pie!

If you haven't read any of my previous makeup posts, I like to exfoliate my lips with Fresh Sugar Lip Polish and prime with Too Faced Lip Insurance Lip Primer.  Once the primer dries, I line my lips with Besame's Rose and Pink Masterliner Lip Pencil.  I love that their liners are double sided, you get two for the price of one!  For this look I used the Pink side.

Once my lips are lined, it's time to pull out the star of the show: Besame's Portrait Pink Lipstick.  Portrait Pink is a true replica of a color from 1963, which means it has that mid-century feel with a twist of mod.  I love that this pink isn't too pink, it has a rich enough pigment without giving me terrible high school makeup flashbacks.  While applying your lipstick straight from the tube is fine, I like to use their Travel Lip Brush.  It gives you more control over the application process, which is perfect for a novice like myself.  I also think it helps apply the lipstick evenly and keeps it there longer.  While I'll sometimes top off my look with a clear gloss, I feel like this shade does well on its own.

To top of my sweet and spooky look I added my favorite vintage hair scarf and my Peasant Top in Spiderweb print from Pinup Girl Clothing.  I love adding elements of Halloween without making it the main focus of my look.  Spooky can still be cute, wearable, and vintage inspired!

  1. I love that color and I've wanted it for such a long time, but then Besame Cosmetics decided they don't deliver to Europe anymore and that was it for me :( Lost for good, unless I turn to Sephora (US) with hopes that they have this and many other shades of Besame lipsticks I want to get AND that they'd deliver to Finland. It would be such a bummer if I can't have this lipstick :/
