City and Sea

Mint tulle skirt

I happened to look back on some really old posts of mine and I noticed something: I never photograph my bags anymore!  I think the main reason is that I usually carry around a Hello Kitty diaper bag these days.  But on the rare occasion that I'm Bianca free, I love to dust off a cute bag and carry lipstick instead of diaper rash cream.  While I love this particular one, lipstick is about the only thing you can put into it.  It's cute though and we all know that cute trumps functionality!

Just like pants, I rarely work a t-shirt into my everyday wardrobe.  I have a few to lounge/work out in, but not many I can work with my skirts.  I've always loved striped everything and I jumped at the opportunity to try and style this one with my tulle skirt.  This minty skirt has proven that's it's fairly easy to dress up or down.  I've also used it as a light petticoat under longer dresses.  Basically, I got it on eBay for about ten dollars and it's proven to be one of my smartest purchases.

What's been your smartest purchase?  Let me know!

  3. Seems I will never stop wondering how they managed to create such bag, which looks like a cartoon one:) It's so fancy and chic! Besides, those snapshots are so lovely, you look so original, yet feminine as always;)
    Have a fabulous time!

  4. Those drawing like purses always seem so surreal- so fun, especially with the pink of it paired with that minty skirt.

  5. This is such a perfect summer outfit. I love striped t shirts like that, and the minty tulle skirt is lovely with it. I've been looking at things like that on eBay, but I'm always put off by the too-shiny satin stretch waistbands. It looks like a belt does a pretty good job of covering, though - it looks really nice on you. The pop of red with your shoes is a great finish.

    1. Yes, the waistband is shiny but a nice stretchy belt covers it :). Thanks so much!

  7. Yeah, I hardly photograph my purses anymore just in the fact that I have three that I always use. My purse selection is actually quite limited. But that one purse that you have is just so sweet! It kind of makes me think that you took it right from a cartoon show or something-really cool! I've never seen one like it before:)

  9. I have a similar type of skirt that's black that I often use as a petticoat--works great as either skirt or petticoat! And that cartoon-esque bag is cute!

  10. Eeeeee! Your purse is so cute! It looks like a cartoon! I love it :) My blue heart Pop Special flats from Mel Shoes have been one of my smartest purchases. They are sooooo comfortable and go with everything in my wardrobe. Well worth the (on sale) price!

  11. You are always so cute! I have collected a couple of skirts that I can hopefully pair with some shirts. Some t shirts come off as lounge wear/lazy though haha

  12. Cute - the bag adds a really cool quality to the outfit (as in a double take - is that really a bag?!)!

Yes, I struggle with t-shirts as well. My smartest purchases are always shoes. My Dr. Marten ankle boots get a pretty constant rotation...

I need to try and get some more different types of pieces (like smart trousers and blazers) into my wardrobe, but it's really hard as I don't naturally gravitate to those types of items. *sigh*

  15. Mint seems to go with everything! Second time in one day I've seen a post about this bag - weird. Perfectly quirky, bags like this are so good for completing a look x

  17. You are right- I just realised you don't tend to show your bags. I have seen these cartoon style bags around and I really want one, they are so cool. I wonder what they look like in real life. Love your whole look especially the skirt.

  18. The colour combo is very creative here. I love that bag! Sounds like it is very small inside though.

  19. I love how you paired the skirt with the red flat. I've been looking for a skirt similar to that, so I guess I should look on eBay. I also adore those handbags! I was at a booth a couple weeks ago with tons of them and had to control myself.. I carry far too much stuff on me to make one of those work..maybe some day!

  20. I love this look, but mostly I like it because it reminds me of old school Ashley! Also your hair + mint = perfection.
