Thank You Betsey

In case you didn't know, Betsey Johnson has filed for bankruptcy which means she will no longer be designing or selling her amazing line.  All her stores are closing and I will no longer have the joy of playing dress up or bonding with the great Betsey girls I've met all over the country.  Betsey is my personal favorite designer and I'm pretty devastated that I won't have the chance to expand my collection.

I'm going to miss her feminine dresses, funky jewelry, sparkly bags, and her great staff!  She has inspired my style for years and I am so thankful for a designer who knows me (even if she has no idea who I am).  I am so sad :(

Earlier this month my boyfriend and I celebrated our second anniversary.  I wanted to buy a really pretty dress because we were going to a fancy LA restaurant.  My friend Layla bought this same dress from Delia's (I know!) a few months ago and I had to get it for myself.  Unfortunately, their 2 day shipping was actually 4 day shipping and I got the dress a day late :(.

Either way, I'm happy to add this dress to my wardrobe.  I love the color and the textures and it really catches your eye.  While I have yet to wear this one out, I can't wait to have a function to put it back on!

Who doesn't want to go back to prom?  My senior prom was exactly ten years ago (so scary) and I would love to do it over again.  I wore a special made blue metallic gown that maybe showed a little too much cleavage for my now 28 year old self.  I may have become a bit more conservative, but the fashion sense remains!

This Betsey Johnson tulle dress is a favorite in my collection.  I love the sweetheart neckline and the gold accents.  This dress would definitely be suitable for my second chance prom.  I added gold shoes and a bunch of gold jewelry with a sweet pink bow clutch to really play up on the "girlishness" of this dress.  What do you think?

If you are attending prom this year (or anytime soon) make sure to be prepared!  A small clutch can still carry some important gadgets in case anything goes wrong.  Here is my checklist:

-Oil absorbing sheets.  Instead of powdering your nose repeatedly and caking on the makeup, try using these sheets.  They work much better!

-Lip gloss.  I suggest something with a pale hue, a little goes a long way!

-Cell phone.  This is a great way to take pictures and keep in touch with your friends without carrying a clunky digital camera around.

-Pocket mirror.  Best way to check on your makeup (and if you have any dinner in your teeth).

-Mini comb and bobby pins.  This is perfect for those wearing an updo.  You need your hairstyle to last while you dance it up!

- Extra cash.  Just in case!

-Foldable flat shoes.  You can buy them at Target or pretty much any drug store.  They fit in your purse and you can slip them on when your feet are hurting from your fabulous heels.

Remember to take lots of pictures and to have fun!!!
