A-OK

Well, it's been a good four months since my family and I have been home and we don't really see an end in sight!  Kevin is working from home, I lost my job a few weeks ago, and we signed Bianca up for full-time distance learning for her first grade year in the fall.  While I don't wear makeup and do my hair every single day, I do dress the part (mostly for my mental health).  I've been obsessed with Nooworks for quite a while but their styles have been a lifesaver during a time of quarantine.  Their pieces are comfy and breezy, which is ideal for my time at home.  This Frida dress is a new style of theirs and let me say: I am obsessed!  You can read more about the Frida and this woman-owned inclusive small business below!

The Frida is made from cotton poplin (which allows a bit of stretch) and features adorable ruffled sleeves, a loose fitting empire bodice, longer length tiered skirt with hidden side pockets, and a back zippered closure.  This dress is meant to be nice and roomy so I took my usual size small and it fits great!  I suppose you could size down but I like having the length in the bodice.  The print was designed by Katie Benn, who also designed their snacks and ever-so-popular knives print.

If you're not familiar with Nooworks, they're a woman-owned and woman run business.  They also work with women to source their amazing artwork for textile prints!  I love that they produce everything right here in California and they offer inclusive sizing as well.  If you take a look at their website, their models represent all kinds of women and they also have a section where you can see what sizes their employees wear in several styles aka The Selfie Fit Guide.  Their customer service is top notch and I've never had a bad experience with them.

As someone who has decided to really consider where to put my dollar these days, I feel confident that my dollar is well-spent at Nooworks.  An ethical, inclusive company that cares about their employees as well as their customers.  You can shop with Nooworks online or, if you're local to Los Angeles or San Francisco, you can shop in store.  I've been to their LA location a few times and it's always a super fun experience!

Charmed

I know it's summertime but let's be real: I'm already preparing for the spooky season!  Made590 is one of my favorite brands based in Australia and their new Charmed range is everything a spooky witch could want.  Illustrated by Kirbee Lawler and available in a bunch of fun styles, this range truly has something for everyone!

While I wanted to order a few things, I had to limit myself to one piece so I chose the Saski dress.  The Saski is a new style for me (I almost always order a Valentina skirt when it's available) so I was a little nervous about fit.  Thankfully Chris, the woman behind the brand, is always happy to answer my questions.  She assured me that the XS would be the size for me and she was right!  

The Saski is made from linen fabric and has the most gorgeous print of vintage charms.  There are several buttons down the bodice so there is no gaping on the bust whatsoever.  This dress features short sleeves, a pleated skirt, and deep hidden side pockets.  It was just a little short waisted for me but I added a belt to even out the proportions.  Overall, I really love this dress and I'm really looking forward to wearing this during spooky season!

Boni Roselee

I love a good jumpsuit and this Boni-Roselee from Miss Candyfloss is my new favorite!  Unlike their other jumpsuits that I have in my closet, this one is made in a light, breathable linen which is perfect for the summer heat.  This wonderful fabric combined with their high quality design and amazing print has me completely head over heels in love!  You can read more about this jumpsuit below:

The Boni-Roselee features these gorgeous half sleeves that have a petal effect so you have full range of motion.  I love having arm coverage but I don't like sacrificing lifting up my arms in the name of fashion!  Like most of their jumpsuits, this one features a pleated bust, front zip closure, wide leg pants, and a matching removable grommet belt.  I'm usually an XS in Miss Candyfloss jumpsuits but I decided to size up to a S due to the non-stretch linen fabric content.  While the belt doesn't really fit the way I usually like, I'm happy to have extra room in the bust and waist (plus it's even easier to get in and out of it).

While this exact jumpsuit is now only available in a few sizes, you can find similar styles in different prints HERE.  As always, their clothing is made in sizes XS-5X and ships from Europe but their international shipping is SUPER fast!  I'm telling you, I usually get their packages faster than something coming from within the US.  Their customer service is top notch and I'm always happy with my orders.  Basically, I'm just very happy to support this woman-owned small business!

Ingenue

The warm weather is here and the Ingenue dress from Vixen by Micheline Pitt is the ultimate summer staple!  I've been looking for a dress that has that classic vintage look but doesn't feel stiff or uncomfortable and the Ingenue ticks off all those boxes.  This stretchy, wrinkle-free material is perfect for everyday life or frolicking in the woods like wannabe princess.

The Ingenue dress is made from a synthetic gaberdine spandex twill, which means it has lots of stretch and it doesn't wrinkle... at all!  I took this dress out of the package and it looked exactly like this.  No steaming or ironing necessary!  It features adjustable spaghetti straps, gathered bust, full (but not super full) skirt with massive pockets, a back zippered closure, and a black removable grommet belt.  I'm wearing a size small, which is my usual Vixen size.  I could have maybe taken an XS due to the stretch, but I really do prefer a more comfortable fit and I'm really happy with the small.

The Ingenue is available in a white floral color as well and this dress (among everything else Vixen offers) is made in sizes XS-4X.  This particular black floral dress is currently available for preorder and will be shipping in July.  Make sure to get yours while you can, the first run sold out lightning fast and sizes are already selling out on these preorders!

Power Print

The hot weather is here to stay and there's nothing better than wearing an easy but fun cotton dress!  Love Ur Look, a sustainable and ethical small business, makes some of the most beautiful yet wearable dresses on the market.  Ronke (the woman behind the brand) designs most of her fabric as well.  I love the mix of this power print with their classic shirt dress style, it feels like a match made in heaven!

The Power Print Shirt Dress is fully lined and made from a soft 100% cotton and features a statement collar, functioning buttons down the bodice, short sleeves with cuffs, a longer length a-line skirt with exposed front pockets, a matching fabric sash belt, and a side zipped closure.  This is a definite "throw on and go" dress.  You can pair it with any color accessories or wear it alone and you instantly look fabulous!  Since I've been stuck at home for the past few months, this dress has been such a great piece in my closet.  Dressing like myself has been a huge part of keeping me sane during difficult times and the Power Print has been in regular rotation.  I went with my usual size small in this dress and I found the fit to be great!  The fabric sash allows you to cinch your waist and gives that perfect vintage vibe.
