Sinking Sailor

It's kind of odd but I rarely make my way over to the beach.  It's a pretty short drive from home, there are plenty of beaches to choose from, but I'm not much of a beach (or swimsuit) person.  I especially hate sand, but when you have the luxury of a boardwalk it makes enjoying the beach a little easier.  Santa Monica pier is a little "touristy" but when you have tourists with you it's kind of perfect.  There's a ferris wheel, a roller coaster, tons of shops and street performers.  We had the opportunity to enjoy it all and I felt a little nostalgic walking down a pier I frequented as a child.

Bedroom Redesign

Living in Los Angeles definitely has its perks.  I feel so very lucky to live in a beautiful and safe town filled with some of the best restaurants and shopping in the world.  While my surroundings are amazing, rent in this area is pretty ridiculous and space is scarce as well.  

When Kevin and I were looking for an apartment we stumbled on what seemed like a dream.  Large two bedroom newly renovated apartment, centrally located, and decent rent.  Only problem?  Our bedroom is pretty small!  We had to be creative with our furniture and settle for a queen sized bed (nothing bigger would fit!) but it works.

When we originally decorated our bedroom we pretty much went for muted tones.  To this day I really don't know why, but after two years I was ready for a change.  So I treated myself to a mini shopping spree at Target and this is what I came up with :)

Summer is officially in full swing here in Los Angeles.  The heat is almost unbearable, I attended my first BBQ of the summer yesterday, and my winter clothes are on their way back to my storage unit (yes, the closets in my place can't even hold all my clothes... it's a sickness).  While I have yet to put on a swimsuit, I feel the urge to slap one on and high tail it to the beach.  Anyone want to come with?

Just letting you all know my brother is doing well and is finally recovering at home!  This past week was super stressful and I'm so thankful to all of you for the well wishes.

I feel really horrible because I have not paid any attention to my blog these last few days.  On Saturday my younger brother went to the hospital and ended up having lung surgery on Monday.  Since I have been preoccupied with that (along with both my dogs being sick... my guess is food poisoning) I had waited until tonight to put in a few minutes here.

I fell in love with this dress when the amazingly gorgeous Jessica from The Midwest Muse wore it last month.  I waited until this dress came back in stock and as of today I can call it mine :).  It's really versatile and I love any dress you where can wear a regular bra underneath (hello comfortable!).

I'm hoping you have a great week.  Mine has already been pretty crazy so I'm hoping for a slow down stat!

Okay... so maybe it's not morning.  It was almost dark and my photographer got home later than usual :).  Either way, sometimes I think it's pretty cool to shoot at night.  You may not get as many good shots, but it looks nice.

I'm a big fan of mixing patterns, so I have no problems wearing my striped blazer with a polka dot top.  Not sure if you noticed but my tights are leopard print too.  You get a hint of another pattern without being overwhelming.  Add some textured pumps and you're set!

I'm having some company over tonight, I'm excited to see a very dear friend.  Not so excited to cut this post short and start cleaning my place though!
