Walking in Spiderwebs

Vintage Inspired by Jackie Spider Web Peter Pan Collar Dress

In case you didn't know, Halloween is only 96 days away.  While that may sound ridiculous to some, this Halloween-obsessed family likes to celebrate as long as possible!  My newest spooky dress comes from Vintage Inspired by Jackie: the queen of Disneybound dresses.  She's no one trick pony though, she creates all kinds of amazing pieces.  Whether you're in the market for a Playboy bunny suit or a Star Wars bed sheet dress, Jackie can do it all!  This spiderweb Peter Pan collar dress is perfect for the spooky season ahead and I've already thrown it into my dress rotation.  Read all about this haunting beauty below!

This dress is made from a cotton fabric that's exclusive to Jackie.  She teamed up with John Varvir to create this one-of-a-kind print!  This dress features a contrast Peter Pan collar with spider detail, short sleeves, fully lined bodice, gathered skirt with one hidden side pocket, and a long back zippered closure.  I have a few of Jackie's dresses in this style and I love them so much.  They're comfy yet fitted in the right places.  Don't fancy this style but can't get enough the print?  She loves doing custom orders and is more than happy to make this in another dress style or skirt!

Want your new spooky goodies at a discount?  From now until Friday, August 17th, you can get 15% off all spiderweb print items (including her new Rosie's bug print) with the coupon code CABELLE15.  Now is the time to get those Halloween outfits planned and ready to go!  If you need some Halloween inspiration, I've tagged all my previous Halloween-inspired looks HERE!

Hydrangea

Paisley Raye Hydrangea Pants Southern California Belle

As much as I'd like to get dolled up right now, it's just way too hot!  This season has been all about light, functional, yet stylish outfits.  As a fan of Paisley Raye, I'm always excited about their fabrics.  They work so well with warm weather and the prints are super cute.  They've recently released the Hydrangea: a super comfy but cute-without-trying wide leg pant.  I'm super excited to share this women-owned small business and talk about these awesome pants!

The Hydrangea pant features a pebble crepe-like fabric, paper bag gathered waist with elastic waistband, matching self-tie belt with belt loops and a wide leg.  I'm wearing my usual size in all Paisley Raye garments: size small.  Since these pants do have an elastic waistband, they're super comfy to wear and (more importantly) eat in.  I love the olive green color with cream polka dots, it really compliments my vintage-inspired style without having to put the tireless effort into my look.  They also come in other colors and styles, I'm dying to get my hands on the floral version!  Paisley Raye garments are made right here in the USA, are incredibly cost effective for the quality and style, and buying from them supports a small women-owned business.  Who could ask for more?

I've been hiding in the comfort of my own air-conditioned home for what feels like almost a week now.  As much as I want to get out, explore, shoot outfits...  I immediately turn around and walk right back into the house.  I just became a member of a local botanical garden and I want nothing more than to take Bianca and visit.  Unfortunately, these triple digit temperatures have other plans.  What kind of activities do you (and if you have kids) engage in when you're confined indoors?  I would love some new ideas, I'm literally going out of my mind!  Let me know in the comments below :).

Strawberry Fields

Heart of Haute Sadie Dress in Strawberry Fields

Is there anything more summery than strawberries?  Keeping my small-business series going, Heart of Haute is a made in the USA company run by Teresa Becker and her daughter, Mandie Bee.  They've recently released a new style, the Sadie dress, in their exclusive strawberry print.  Fun, flirty, and perfectly fitted; the Sadie is perfect for a picnic, a night out on the town, or a casual stroll in a redwood forest.  You can read a full review of this gorgeous dress below!

The Sadie dress is made from 100% cotton and features a squared sweetheart neckline with contrast piping, delicate gathering at the bust, fitted bodice, full skirt with pockets, a self tie belt, and long back zippered closure.  This dress is really light but the fabric is structured.  I've basically sworn off petticoats and this dress certainly doesn't need one!  I love how flattering the neckline is and the hidden side pockets are big enough for my phone.  I wear a size small in all Heart of Haute products and this dress was spot on.  Without a doubt, Heart of Haute is the most consistent in their sizing.  I love that I can order with confidence!  If strawberries aren't your thing, they also offer the Sadie in two different floral prints.  I'm hoping we see more Sadie dresses in the future, I'm dying for some pretty solids too!

This weekend I'm doing something that I haven't done in forever: I'm going out with my girlfriends without my daughter.  As much as I love being a stay-at-home mom, I never get any alone time.  The fact that I'll be celebrating some milestones with a few of my closest friends and not tending to a tiny version of myself is so exciting!  I can't wait to dress up, have a few mocktails, and stay out late!

Down Memory Lane

Who doesn't love a trip down memory lane?  Erstwilder just released a fun new collection that will have you reveling in nostalgia!  With fourteen brooches (one of them being a re-imagined fan favorite) and one necklace and a pair of earrings, this range is perfect for the young and the young-at-heart.  You can check out my picks below!

Erstwilder Fairy Bread Brooch

Top and skirt- Trashy Diva (sold out)
Lipstick- c/o Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Soft Lilac

An overwhelmingly popular fan favorite, Erstwilder took their original Fairy Bread brooch and released a new color way and style (you can also get a necklace and matching earrings!).  This version has vibrant 100's & 1,000's on the bread, which is apparently ridiculously good because this one has a bite in it!  If you don't know what fairy bread is, it's a fun, colorful treat normally served at children's birthday parties in Australia.  Question is: why doesn't it exist here in the states?  Guess I'll have to enjoy it through my brooch!

Erstwilder Nuts and Bolts Robot Brooch

Seriously, who doesn't love robots?  I'm obsessed with this new design, it's definitely my favorite in the bunch!  He's bright and a little bit sparkly and apparently has the biggest heart.  My (now adopted) foster dog Sleepy couldn't help but join in on the photo shoot fun.  They're both pretty much the cutest!

Erstwilder Trundling Tail Wagger Brooch

Jumpsuit- Louche
Hair bow- Free People
Lipstick- Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain in Always Red

As the mom to four senior, special needs rescue dogs, this brooch was a must have for me!  I did own a trundling dog when I was a kid, but I became much more interested in the living kind as I grew up.  I love his bright features and his sparkly wheels, he's the perfect addition to my ever-growing doggy brooch collection!

Through the Gardens

Alannah Hill Through the Gardens Dress

While keeping cool is virtually impossible at the moment (it's literally going to be 112 degrees today), wearing clothing that feels light and airy is essential to get through the day.  I'm featuring not one, but two dresses from Alannah Hill, an Australian ethical small business.  I'm so excited to talk about the sweet and sophisticated (and cool!) designs they offer and how they worked for me.  Keep reading below to get all the details!

The first dress I'm going to talk about is the Through the Garden dress.  It's a true wrap dress style that features a lined bodice and skirt, hook and eye detail at the bust for modesty, short sleeves, and a ruffled hem.  While it's not meant to be a super fitted style, you can cinch the waist to your comfort.  I personally like the more relaxed look of this dress, it's truly a "throw on and go" kind of piece.  The floral print is absolutely divine and perfect for the season.  If pastel isn't your thing, it's also available in a wine color way.  I'm usually between a UK8 and UK10 (depending on style and fabric) and I comfortably took the UK8 in this dress.  I can't wait to wear it again!

The other piece I'm featuring is the Night Bloom dress.  It's fully lined and features a flutter sleeve, self tie keyhole neckline, fitted bodice and asymmetrical a-line skirt, and a long back zippered closure.  This dress is so lush, I love the delicate yet structured style of this dress.  It combines some of my favorite vintage details with modern ones and I absolutely love it!  I went with a UK10 in this dress and it definitely was the right decision.  While the dress technically has stretch, the overlay does not.  If you're between sizes I'd order the larger one.  I feel like this would be such a great outfit for a summer date night...  Here's to hoping I get one of those (child-free) moments soon!
