What's On My Radar: Current Loves

Happy Friday!  I've been on a small-business kick and I'm honored to share some of my favorites today.  From vintage shops to handmade dresses, jewelry, and even Mickey ears, it's never been easier to get exactly what you want from some ridiculously talented shop owners!  See what's on my wish list this month, I'm telling you, it's all so good.

Ebone and Ivory
  1. Rose Garden Border Print Dress
  2. Toy Story 3 Dress
  3. Prim Puppies Dress
  4. Spring Floral Dress
I featured Ebone's shop in an outfit post earlier this week but I feel like showing off more of her designs!  Handmade (and custom if you ask) in the most beautiful fabrics, Ebone does an amazing job with each piece she creates.  You can also shop by style and then choose the fabric you want.  I love that idea and I feel like I'll be doing that with my next purchase!

Briar's Patches
  1. Star Wars Ears
  2. Haunted Mansion Wallpaper Ears
  3. Dumbo Ears
  4. Buzz Lightyear Ears
I'm gonna let you in on a little secret: Briar's Patches is my go-to shop for custom ears!  As much as I enjoy the ones you can get directly from Disney, I love the idea of supporting a small business and getting the exact character you want.  Hayley does such a wonderful job with each piece and she's just so creative!  I have a looooong list of ears on my wish list right now, but I think a new pair of Star Wars ears is coming home with me soon!

Sconnie and Jam
  1. Happee Birthdae Harry Hagrid Cake Brooch
  2. Golden Snitch Brooch
  3. 3D Owl in Cage Brooch
  4. Hagrid's Pink Umbrella Brooch
Sconnie and Jam has the best pop culture brooches and I'm excited to share some of my favorites!  I love their Harry Potter inspired brooches, especially the 3D Owl brooch (seriously, how amazing is it?!).  While I've only shown a few brooches, they carry all kinds of fun and quirky jewelry!

Jumblelaya
  1. Vintage 1970's Gunne Sax Corset Dress Black Floral Cotton Lace Up Sundress
  2. Vintage 1970's Rainbow Madra Plaid Patchwork Cotton Full Skirt Wrap Sundress
  3. Vintage 1950's Skirt Novelty Print Hawaiian Topless Dancers Scenic Border Cotton Full Skirt
  4. Vintage 30's Dress Olive Green Polka Dot Puff Sleeve Rayon Dress w/ Pockets
One of my favorite online shops for vintage clothing, Jumblelaya always has tons of goodies to shop from!  I love how Jennifer curates the most beautiful items and you can find yourself paying a fair price for them.  I am obsessed with this 30's olive rayon dress!  If it were my size, it wouldn't even be featured here...  It would be in my closet!

Pastello Dresses
  1. 1950's Style Blue White Green Abstract Floral Print Full Pleated Skirt Cotton Dress
  2. 1950's Style White and Purple Harlequin Print Full Pleated Skirt Cotton Dress
  3. 1950's Style Green and Pink Color Block Full Skirt Cotton Dress
  4. 1950's Style White Pink Green Floral Rose Print Full Pleated Skirt Cotton Dress
As a long-time fan of Victoria's shop, I have a hard time deciding what dress I want to purchase next!  She finds the greatest fabrics and makes the most beautiful vintage-inspired dresses.  She also does her best to provide a wide range of sizes, because everyone knows how hard it is to find true vintage that isn't a size zero.  I'm hoping she makes another color block dress in my size in the future, I've been drooling over this one for months!

1138 Clothing
  1. Magical Luna Tie Top
  2. Minnie Mouse Red and White Polka Dot Dress
  3. Magical Luna Circle Skirt
  4. Serpent Beret
The queen of all things cute and geeky, Linda is a talented designer with a vast stock of fandoms.  I tend to wear a lot of Disney-inspired goodies, but 1138 Clothing has everything from Marvel to Harry Potter to Doctor Who!  I really love her berets (I own a few myself) and Bianca is pretty much obsessed with her Luna skirt.  Linda also does custom orders, since I'm the customer who is constantly asking for extra length.  Luckily, Linda is more than happy to work with her customers and all my pieces from her are picture perfect!

What are you crushing on this month?  Care to share a small business with me?  Let me know in the comments below!

Black Swallow

Loco Lindo 1970s Inspired Solid Black Babaloo Crop Top Loco Lindo Black Swallow Print High Waist Wide Leg Pants

When it comes to my style, I'd like to think I don't follow any specific rules.  While I love vintage and vintage-inspired outfits, I don't keep myself in a meticulous space filled with restrictions.  I love to mix and match eras along with vintage and reproduction because my style is exactly that: MINE.  When I saw these amazing 40's style black swallow Palazzo pants, I couldn't help but pair them with this 70's style Babaloo crop top.  Loco Lindo makes the most beautiful rayon separates and dresses, grabbing inspiration that spans through lots of stylish eras.  I'm super enthusiastic to showcase Loco Lindo today: another small woman-owned business!

Rayon is one of my (if not absolute) favorite fabrics to wear.  It's super light, breathable, and easy to wear.  The Babaloo crop top is a true wrap top with long belle sleeves and delicate gathering on the shoulder.  I went with a size S for this top and I feel like it was a great fit.  The sleeves have elastic along the cuff so you can push them up and stay in place if needed.  The Palazzo pants feature a wide leg, button up detail on the side, and an elastic waistband on the back.  I went with a size S and I could get them on without unbuttoning them.  Since my waist is much smaller than my hips, I feel like I definitely could have sized down to an XS.  But because I'm on the taller side (5'6"), I appreciate the extra length on the size S.  This is my first outfit from Loco Lindo and I feel like I'm going to be ordering more in the future!  If you're eyeing anything on the website now, you can get 25% off your order with the code MEMDAY25.  Happy shopping!

Royal Swan

Ebone and Ivory Sophia Collared Dress in Royal Swan Print

I've spent the last two years focusing on buying from small, woman-owned, and WOC-owned businesses.  It's really important to support smaller businesses and I've had such a great time discovering new brands through my searches.  Ebone and Ivory is one of my favorite shops for beautifully custom made dresses.  Ebone takes a great deal of attention to the small details and every dress I own is truly unique.  I'm so excited to share her shop with you today!

The Sophia collared dress is one of my favorite cuts that Ebone and Ivory offers (I also have a Nightmare Before Christmas version).  It features a wide contrasting white collar with a long white bow at the center, a fitted bodice, full gathered skirt with hidden pockets, and a long back zippered closure.  Her dresses can be made custom so I ordered this dress to my measurements.  Much like the rest of my Ebone and Ivory dresses, it came out perfect!  She's super easy to communicate with and is all ears if you have any ideas you'd like to come to life.  I'm about to put in another order with her and I can't wait to have a closet full of her designs!

Just letting you know that my Sarsparilly giveaway is ending tonight!  If you haven't already entered, you can get all the info on the giveaway and enter to win right HERE.  I'll be announcing the winner on Friday!

Gingham Madison

Retrolicious Madison Skirt in Large Gingham Target A New Day Off the Shoulder Short Sleeve Lace Top

As someone who lives in a hot climate, I love summer clothing but don't look forward to the summer heat.  My outfit needs to be soft, comfortable, and breathable because I can't function in something that won't take on the beating sun with me.  This Retrolicious skirt is one of the newer additions to my closet.  It's a soft but structured cotton, so it feels nice on but is sturdy enough for everyday wear.  It also helps that it's cute as hell, I have to stop myself from throwing it on everyday!

Lipstick- Vinyl Cosmetics x Southern California Belle Lipstick in Subterfuge

The Madison skirt is lightly pleated at the waist and features a wide waistband, below the knee length, huge hidden side pockets, and a back zippered closure.  While I'm usually a size small in Retrolicious, I've recently been wearing the extra small in their skirts (my bust is still very much a small).  I'm absolutely in love with the fit of this skirt and I can't wait to add more to my closet!  I paired the Madison with this new amazing top from Target and I cannot get enough of it.  It also comes in two other colors, none of which are black.  Come on Target, this top is begging for a black colorway!  I guess I'll just have to wear the heck out of this one until they get the memo.

Have you entered my Sarsparilly giveaway yet?  There's a few more days to enter to win a Black Magic dress, click HERE to get all the info and enter to win!

Lobster Rows

Palava Louise Dress in Lobster Rows Penny Dress in Lobster Rows

With Mother's Day right around the corner, I wanted to make sure to get in another Mommy & Me post to commemorate one of my favorite days (I get to live like a queen!).  Palava has been one of my go-to shops for cute matching outfits for years.  They're ridiculously cute, made from organic cotton, and continue to be an environmentally conscious company.  Who could want more from a small, woman-owned business?  If you're curious about their ethics, you can read their story HERE.  Otherwise, prepare for lots of mommy and me cuteness!

I'm wearing the Louise dress, which is a new style for me.  The Louise is a classic shirtwaist dress and features a collared neckline, button down front bodice, a-line skirt with hidden side pockets, a matching fabric grommet belt, and a side zippered closure.  I took my usual size UK8 and it was the right choice.  My bust has a hard time with button down features so I did have a bit of gaping between two buttons, but it definitely wasn't enough to have to size up.  In case you weren't aware, lobsters are my absolute favorite so you can imagine my excitement to wear this print!  They actually have lots of lobster printed items in their shop right now.  I'm doing my best not to buy them all but I'm just so weak!

Bianca is wearing the Penny dress and it's basically a dream.  The construction is amazing and can handle the wear and tear of a typical four year old.  The Penny features a Peter Pan collar, a-line skirt, attached fabric waist ties, and the cutest colorful button down closure in the back.  She's wearing a size 4/5 and it's great right now with a little room to grow into.  We're both super happy with these dresses and we get all kinds of compliments when we wear them together!

I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!  I'll be getting together with my mom on Sunday night but the rest of the day is a complete surprise.  I can't wait to see what my family has in store for me!

You've Got A Friend In Me

Vintage Inspired by Jackie Peter Pan Collar Sheriff Woody Disneybound Inspired Dress

It's been some time since I've posted a fun Disneybound here on my blog so I was excited to debut this Woody-inspired outfit from Vintage Inspired by Jackie.  If you're not already familiar with Jackie's business, she's the infinitely talented woman behind all my bound outfits I wear to the park and my vintage bed sheet dresses/separates.  She makes everything herself and puts so much love into each and every piece, I'm proud to have so many of her creations in my closet!

This ridiculously adorable Woody dress features a yellow bodice with a contrasting red Peter Pan collar and faux buttons down the front, attached cow print bow, gathered skirt with a lasso ric rac trim and a hidden side pocket, and a full back zippered closure.  The dress is made from a sturdy cotton so it's breathable but structured.  While Jackie does have a size chart for each garment, she can also make something to your exact measurements.  If you send her a message through Etsy, she'll be more than happy to discuss a custom garment or the Disneybound dress of your dreams!

I'm gearing up for my big closet sale this Friday!  Between me and my three stylish friends, we have tons of clothing, shoes, and accessories in sizes XS-2X to unload.  We'll be selling almost everything at a steal, so make sure to follow my closet Instagram account to shop!  Listings will start going live at 4pm PST, if you need a reminder you can always turn your post notifications on.  If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments below!

Rock Lobster

Collectif Mainline Sandrine Rock Lobster Swing Dress Lulu Hun Phoebe Lobster Sandals

If you haven't already guessed, I'm kind of obsessed with lobsters.  It's not even a food thing (I don't particularly love or hate eating them), I genuinely think they're adorable.  I don't know what it is about the spring season this year but there are lobsters everywhere and I am loving itCollectif has a small collection of lobster print goodies and I had to have at least some, if not all of it!

Dress- c/o Collectif
Shoes- Lulu Hun (c/o Collectif)
Barette- Free People
Brooch- c/o Erstwilder
Lipstick- Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain in Always Red

The Sandrine dress is made from a stretch cotton and features a wide, slight sweetheart neckline, a faux button down front, lined bodice, flared skirt with exposed contrast pockets, and a long back zippered closure.  This dress is so comfy, it's perfect for everyday wear.  I took my usual size UK8 (which can sometimes be too big for me) and I found the fit to be a bit smaller than most other Collectif styles.  If you're between sizes, I would definitely take your larger size for the best fit.

I paired this dress with their new Lulu Hun Phoebe sandals because who wouldn't want to continue this theme into footwear too?!  These sandals are super comfy but also run super large.  I'm a US9/UK7 and the UK6 is the best fit.  They're a little big but I don't think I would have been able to size down another full size.  Make sure to size down if you want these adorable sandals in your life!

I had an exciting photo shoot at Universal Studios yesterday and I'm currently recovering from all the fun I had.  While I was there for "work", you know I had to indulge in some rides and yummy food.  I'm hosting a super fun giveaway that ties in with this shoot so stay tuned... You won't want to miss it!
