Dahlia

Paisley Raye Dahlia Dress Southern California Belle

I've been feeling more 40's styles lately and this outfit is no exception.  The Dahlia dress from Paisley Raye is comfortable enough to wear everyday but looks amazing when it's dressed up as well.  I'm getting the most out of these summer days with this dress but I think it will be easy to transition into fall with some fun layering.  Am I the only crazy person that thinks about how to style a certain piece for every season before I buy it?  Please tell me I'm not the only one...

The Dahlia dress features a surplice neckline, gathers at the shoulder, short sleeves, and a-line skirt complete with hidden side pockets.  It's made from a super stretchy and incredibly soft fabric that literally feels like you're wearing a cloud.  The Dahlia doesn't have zippers or buttons, you can just throw it on and go!  Like the rest of their collection, this dress is available in sizes XS-4X.  I've linked a Facebook shop where you can explore the Paisley Raye collection.  If you don't see the size or style you want, make sure to send a message so the shop girls can cater to your needs!

I'm gearing up for some self-care this weekend.  Two of my dogs have been sick (one recovered, the other is not doing so well) and I've been generally frustrated with the stagnant nature of my life lately.  I'm trying to be positive but I feel like I need a clean slate.  So I'm meeting up with some old friends and I'll probably make use of some Lush bath bombs and scented candles.  What do you do when you need to recharge?  Let me know in the comments!

Hidden Treasure

Trashy Diva June Blouse 1940's Skirt in Pirate Treasure Southern California Belle

Trashy Diva Hollywood Dress in Pirate Treasure The Soubrette Brunette

When Sammi and I were planning our outfits for our New Orleans trip, we decided we wanted to "twin" at least once.  While we have lots of the same outfits, Trashy Diva's Pirate Treasure print was on the top of our list.  This collection is easily in my top three favorites (I do own five pieces) and I thought it would be fun to compliment Sammi's Hollywood dress with the new June blouse.  We took our coordinating outfits to the New Orleans Botanical Garden and we were completely blown away.  Full of lush gardens, an amusement park, and even a restaurant; you can easily spend an entire day here.  If we hadn't been so time-poor we certainly would have!

Trashy Diva's June blouse is a 1940's lover's dream!  It features a button front with snaps in between (no bust gaping, ladies!), petal sleeves that allow you to lift your arms with ease, triangle breast pockets, peplum detail at the waist, and a matching grommet belt.  I went with a size 4 for bust room but I feel like I probably could have sized down without any issues.  I paired it with the classic 1940's skirt to give it a faux-dress feel but I love to wear it with my lounge pants too!  I'm looking forward to adding more June blouses to my closet in the future.  It really is the perfect vintage-inspired piece!

Trashy Diva is releasing a new print today and I can't wait for everyone to see it.  I had the honor of modeling some of this collection and let me tell you: I am in love!  Keep your eyes peeled, the new collection launches at 9am PST.  Let me know what you think when you see it by commenting below!

Joanie

Joanie Clothing Hermione Le Pique-Nique Slogan Knit Quinn Polka Dot Skirt

I feel like I've been pushing my personal style boundries lately and this outfit is no exception.  I rarely (and by rarely I mean never) wear skirts above my knee but this Joanie Clothing skirt was too cute to pass up!  Sturdy but stretchy, this polka dot skirt is the perfect base to any outfit.  I'm already dreaming about different ways to style it for the cooler months ahead!

This strawberry jumper is light enough to wear in summer but will easily transition to fall with some simple layering.  This soft knit features 3/4 sleeeves, a round neck, and the cutest embroidered picnic design on the front.  I'm wearing a size small and it was the perfect fit!  My skirt is a size UK8 and I feel like it runs true to size as well.  My first experience with Joanie Clothing was nothing but positive and it definitely won't be my last!

This week has been kind of crazy and I'm just trying to keep my head above water.  Two of my dogs have had health issues, my daughter has been sick, and I literally can't get anything done.  I'm hoping for a bit of break today since all three of them seem to be on the mend.  I'm ready to act more like a fun mom and less like a live-in nurse!

Tropical Flowers

Target Mossimo Women's Printed Cold Shoulder Ruffle Dress Southern California Belle

I'm still trying to get back into the swing of things because my vacation really bogged me down (in the best kind of way)!  Being away from my life as a wife, mother, and stay at home mom and jumping into endless adventures with my best friend was much needed.  Now that I'm home, I feel a new energy and appreciation for the life that I've built here with Kevin.  One thing I wasn't super excited to come home to: this ridiculously dry California heat!

This is one of my few "non-vintage inspired" dresses and I must admit: I love it!  With its light, airy fabric and flowy silhouette, it's the perfect everyday dress that looks fancier than it feels.  The straps are adjustable, the fabric tie belt highlights the smallest part of your waist perfectly, and the tiered skirt is the perfect look for summer.  It's fully lined, so you don't have to worry about your undergarments showing.  It's also currently on clearance, so you can get this beauty for a steal!

Now that I'm home, I'm focusing on getting back to finding a job.  While I've gone on interviews, I haven't heard back from anyone yet.  I'm going to stay positive and keep looking.  What's meant to be will be, but I'd love to have a steady paycheck in the near future!  Keep those fingers crossed for me!

Trouble Maker

Vixen by Micheline Pitt Troublemaker Swing Dress in Leopard Print Southern California Belle

Is there ever a time where leopard print isn't appropriate?  In my world, this classic animal print is technically a solid and I love to sport it whenever I can.  As one of the stockists for Vixen by Micheline Pitt, Doll Me Up has a very large selection of their designs at fantastic prices.  So you can stock your closet with all the pretty things (and not break the bank)!

The Troublemaker swing dress features a deep scoop neckline, long sleeves, a full and gathered skirt, deep side pockets, matching grommet belt, and a long back zippered closure.  Unlike the solid-colored versions of this dress, the leopard version is made from super stretchy textured stretch crepe.  I tend to be between an XS/S, but I comfortably wore an extra small.  If you're between sizes, I would definitely size down!  While this dress is quite short-waisted (and I am quite long-waisted) the belt easily hides the higher waistline.  If you're new to Doll Me Up, you can recieve10% off your order if you sign up for their newsletter.  Plus, you also get first dibs on their sales!

Today Sammi and I are off to the French Quarter to enjoy the sights, eat some beignets, and shop at Trashy Diva.  I have to admit, this is probably the best way to spend a random Thursday!  If you're in the New Orleans area or happen to visit often, any kinds of recommendations are welcome.  Just leave them in the comments below!

xoxo
