Green Kimono

Trashy Diva Anna Dress in Green Kimono Print

After a busy weekend at work I'm happy to have a few days at home!  Sometimes I feel like I only see Bianca when she's about to go to bed, which isn't enough time for me.  As much as I love to have a life outside of the home, it's nowhere near as gratifying as being Bianca's mommy.  I try my hardest to balance the two but it will always be a struggle.  Because after she goes to school I won't have these long days alone with her...  It's years away but I already get teary-eyed over it!

I missed out on the Green Kimono print when it was on the Trashy Diva site, but I was lucky enough to get my hands on one from a lovely lady who had a spare.  I find myself really drawn to 40's silhouettes lately and this Anna dress is the perfect fit for my body type.  Because this dress has so many wonderful colors, it's fun to accessorize with vibrant shoes and jewelry.  I can't wait to wear this dress again this weekend!

Lots of Dots

Vivien Of Holloway 1950s Circle Skirt Black White Spot Gypsy Top Classic White with White Embroidered Spots

My post is quite fitting because today is national polka dot day!  As much as I adore a great novelty print, it's been some time since I've rocked some polka dots.  Thankfully, Vivien of Holloway has an entire collection of fun cuts and colors in this classic print.  The best part?  Every piece in the collection is mix and match!  This lovely UK company asked me to review some polka dot pieces and I obviously jumped at the chance.  Keep reading for all the details!

I chose this gypsy top and circle skirt because I loved how the subtle polka dots in the top matched with the much louder print of the skirt.  It's made of a soft and light cotton that has an elasticized neckline, arms, and waist.  This top can be worn on or off the shoulder and has a bit of a peplum, which I've tucked into the skirt.

The skirt is made of a very light cotton which would be ideal in warmer temperatures (perfect for my climate!), but looks lovely with an added petticoat.  The wonderful thing about the skirts at Vivien of Holloway is that they're sized by actual waist measurements.  No need to guess your size!  I love the contrasting exposed pockets, it's the perfect place for my lip gloss.  This skirt also comes in three other fun colors, but I wanted to go classic with the black.

How do you style your polka dot pieces?  What's your favorite item from the Vivien of Holloway collection?  Let me know in the comments below!

Forget Me Not Floral

Trashy Diva Bianca Dress in Forget Me Not Floral Print Rockabilly Baby Polly Dress in Forget Me Not Floral Print

This was kind of an unexpected Mommy & Me post.  Kevin decided to surprise us with matching dresses from Trashy Diva and I couldn't be happier!  I've been eyeing more than a few dresses from their Rockabilly Baby line and I'm so happy this Polly dress is Bianca's first one.  I'm wearing the Bianca dress, which is somewhat out of my usual 50's inspired comfort zone, but a welcomed change.  As you can tell by our faces, we loved our new dresses from daddy!

The Forget Me Not Floral collection is made from a luxurious rayon crepe de chine fabric that is both light and comfortable.  I wasn't crazy about this floral pattern at first, but I love the vibrant colors in person.  These dresses can be worn with layers for the cooler months but are light enough to wear all year around.  I can't wait to put Bianca in this dress again, she didn't want to take it off the first time!

I've been combing through my closets, trying to get rid of things I haven't worn in awhile.  It's been a tough process, only because I have emotional attachments to certain pieces in my wardrobe.  I'm going to push through and let go of them anyway, so if you're a size XS-S (0-4) and want some of my new/like new goodies, I'll be posting them on my Instgram closet all this week!

Susie Swing

Bernie Dexter Susie Dress in Red and White Polka Dot Print

Can't help but love my mom for getting me this dress for my birthday!  I had looked it over tons of times when Bernie Dexter first released it (I wasn't digging the underbust bow), but it wasn't until I tried it on at Unique Vintage that I fell in love.  My mom knew how much I loved this dress and was sweet enough to get it for me.  With its classic fit and lightweight fabric, this dress can easily take you from winter to spring.  Unless you live in southern California like me, where everything in your wardrobe can be worn all year long.  Either way, it's a perfect fit and I hope it comes in more prints/colors in the future!

I tend to be between size extra small and small in Bernie Dexter dresses, but I'll usually order the small to be safe.  Since I had the opportunity to try this on in store, the small was a perfect fit!  I love the intricate pleating on the skirt and the bodice has some sort of magic that flatters your bust like nothing else!  Oh, and like most other Bernie dresses, it has pockets.  We all know how useful and exciting those are.  This dress, and everything else on Bernie's site, is currently 20% off with code Bernie13!  Valid until the end of this month.

Bianca and I are recovering from a couple of colds, which seems to be going around like crazy.  I can handle being sick, but Bianca turns into some crazy unmanageable monster.  She stays up super late and wakes up a dawn, which means she's incredibly cranky when she's awake.  Let's just say I'm desperately hoping she gets better soon!

What's On My Radar: Current Loves

The first Current Loves post of the year! I find myself looking for more comfortable outfits recently, mostly meaning things that don't need lots of layers and accessories.  Maybe I'm just feeling lazy, who knows!  Either way, here's what I've been eyeing this month:

Sweet Life Vintage
5. Daisy Print Dress

The perfect mix of stylish and sweet, everything in this vintage shop is an absolute dream!  I'm not the biggest 60's fan, but I've had my eye on that mod floral number for what feels like an eternity.

Baccurelli
1. Frida Brooch
2. Gomez Brooch
3. Purple Rain Jacket Brooch
4. Lily Brooch
5. Alex Brooch

I've just recently become obsessed with these brooches.  I love the attention to detail and the fun quirky designs!  Also, that Purple Rain Jacket will me mine!  They also do custom orders if you don't find exactly what you want.

Geronimo Vintage
5. Garden Party Sundress

I can't get enough of Geronimo Vintage.  I have no idea how Bernadette finds these amazing vintage pieces but I think she has the best luck!  I love that quilted cotton skirt so much, it looks equally chic and comfortable.

Trashy Diva
4. Kelly Cutaway Coat Dress

That Cutaway Coat is calling my name!  I also love Trashy Diva's Rockabilly Baby line.  Because who doesn't want to wear a matching mommy and me outfit in the cutest prints?!  I may or may not have a dress for Bianca on the way to me right now...

Luxulite
Luxulite

I have my own collection of Luxulite goodies already, but I can't help but fall in love with her kitschy animal inspired pieces!  Her new carved bangles are gorgeous and come in different colors too!

Modcloth
5. Eclectic Company Heel

Is it too early to start thinking about my Valentine's Day outfit?  I'm loving all the new pretty shoes from Modcloth.  Their Valentine's shop has everything for your romantic night out from head to toe!

What are you looking to add to your wardrobe this year?

Ivory Annette

Trashy Diva Candice Gwinn Annette Bow Dress in Antique White Satin Voodoo Vixen Brooke Cardigan

It's hard to believe that I've never featured Trashy Diva on my blog before!  I've been a fan of their separates for years (especially their Trixie tops) but I've never pulled the trigger on a dress.  As a spoiled Los Angeles native, I've had the chance to try on most clothing in person.  Most companies have a flagship store or a stockist close to my home, so I'll just make a shopping trip out of it to gauge the sizing.  Trashy Diva is happens to be hard to find out here, but I decided to take the online plunge on a much desired Annette dress.  If you don't know already, Trashy Diva is having a 50% off their sale section until January 22nd.  This Annette came home with me for a steal and it does not disappoint!

Dress- Trashy Diva (on sale!)
Shoes- c/o Bettie Page
Cardigan- Voodoo Vixen
Underskirt- Pinup Girl Clothing

I've seen this ivory number used as wedding dress, but I was determined to style it for everyday wear.  I added a cute blue snowflake cardigan with some fun pastel pink shoes to make it more winter than wedding appropriate.  The dress itself is a dream!  It's made from a luxurious cotton/satin blend that has a subtle sheen.  The construction is high quality and made to last longer than your wedding day!  I love the super full skirt and the pockets are always a plus.  It comes with a matching fabric bow belt for the perfect finishing touch.

I read the sizing charts accordingly and I fell into a size 4, which actually fits me perfectly.  Their size charts are catered to each individual garment which is incredibly helpful.  Because there's nothing more frustrating than purchasing the same style in the same size and finding out it fits differently.  I'm hoping I can add more Annette dresses to my wardrobe (especially the elusive Sci-Fi Rocket print) in the future!

Swan Lake

Doll Me Up Voodoo Vixen Swan Lake Cardigan Baccurelli Miss Glamour Brooch Pinup Girl Cothing Pinup Couture Jenny Skirt in Black Sateen

At this moment I'm trying to recover from my fun weekend celebrating Bianca's second birthday.  We decided to stay with my mom the entire weekend, which then prompted my brother and his wife to come out and stay with us too.  We did our Disneyland trip, had some fun in Temecula, and Kevin and my brother took a mini trip to San Diego.  It was kind of hard to go back to everyday life, but I appreciate every minute of the mini vacations we get to take!

I can't get enough of this gorgeous cardigan from Doll Me Up!  It's a soft, thick, and stretchy knit fabric that is both warm and comfortable.  I love the Peter Pan collar and the delicate embroidery on the front.  I decided to pair it with a full skirt on this day, but I've also worn it with a pair of black jeans and it really classes up a casual look.  I finished this outfit with a Miss Glamour brooch, mostly because that's how I aim to feel everyday.  If I'm not feeling my best on the inside, getting glammed up on the outside definitely helps!

Bianca's 2nd Birthday

Well, my little baby turned two on Friday.  We decided to take her to her favorite place, Disneyland!  Before hitting the park we had breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel, which was wonderful.  The characters come right up to your table and let you take pictures with them, which is so much better than waiting 45 minutes in the park to meet your favorites.  Bianca had her first experience on the teacups, Peter Pan's Flight, and the Enchanted Tiki Room.  She also got to see the barn animals at Big Thunder Ranch for the last time, as it's being removed for the new Star Wars themed area (so bummed about that).  She fell asleep in the early afternoon so we decided to make this trip short.  Since we have annual passes, I'm sure we will be back in a few weeks.

We finished off the day with a delicious homemade birthday cake from my mom.  I'm so happy we got to enjoy this day together and make her birthday special!  I've attached some photos from our favorite moments of the day below.  I don't usually post personal photos on here but I feel like this occasion was worth it!

It's going to be hard to top this birthday next year, but I have another 363 days to plan it out!

Purple & Cream

Ryu Unique Vintage Vintage Style Purple & Cream Tartan Button Down Dress Coat

For the first time in forever it's considered coat weather in southern California!  I just happened to snag the most stylish of coats from Unique Vintage over the holiday and I'm so happy I've already been able to wear it.  In addition to it being exceptionally warm, the deep set pockets and the removable faux fur collar really won me over.  It almost makes this bitter cold enjoyable!

Bianca's birthday is in just two days and I can't wait to celebrate!  We'll be spending the day at Disneyland (is there really a better place to go?) and having breakfast with Mickey beforehand.  Since it might rain that day, we are preparing for the worst and bringing rain gear.  That's in addition to our matching custom Minnie Mouse skirts.  I can't wait to show you those!  Make sure to follow me on Instagram to see all the birthday fun!
