Buttoned in Bordeaux

Unique Vintage Black Three-Quarter Sleeve Button Up Bordeaux Dress Coat 1960s Grey Short Sleeve Stretch Mod Wiggle Dress

Life is finally starting to settle after the holidays and I'm quite relieved.  As much as I love sharing those moments with my family, I feel like I need some time to breathe!  Every once in a while I get up early to get in some "me" time.  This particular day I decided to get dressed up and take a walk at one of my favorite local spots.  This Unique Vintage swing coat has been my go-to this winter.  The silhouette it creates and the fit of the bodice is perfection!  You can read about this lovely coat (and the dress underneath it) below.

The Bordeaux Dress Coat is a great piece to complete your outfit.  While it's not necessarily intended to be worn to keep warm, it does provide an extra layer.  In my forever state of dry heat, this coat is perfect for those chilly nights.  It features side pockets, a covered button closure, and a full swing skirt.  I paired it with the Mod Wiggle Dress in grey.  This is my first Mod Dress but it certainly won't be my last!  It's incredibly stretchy yet has enough structure to enhance your curves.  You can actually step right into it, thanks to the full back invisible zip.  Because we all know there is nothing worse than having your hair and makeup ruined trying to put on a dress!  I got a size small in both these pieces and they were both the perfect fit.  If you haven't already indulged, Unique Vintage is having a 25% off sale on full priced items with the code KBYE.  You can get this outfit on sale right now!

Bianca's birthday is in less than two weeks and I am pretty much a mess!  We're planning a family Disneyland trip (it was her request) but I wanted to do something small for her actual birthday as well.  I can't believe I'm about to have a three year old daughter!  Where the heck does the time go?

Holiday Harlequin

Pinup Couture Genevieve Dress in Holiday Harlequin Print Pinup Girl Clothing

It's officially Christmas Eve and I couldn't be more excited!  Not only is it the first Christmas in our new home, but this is the first year Bianca really understands who Santa Claus is.  I love hearing about her excitement over getting "a Buzz Lightyear under the tree" and I also enjoy using Santa as a threat/bargaining tool.  I can't even tell you how many times I've threatened to call Santa over the last month!  Sounds silly but guess what?  It works.

The Genevieve dress from Pinup Girl Clothing is my Christmas dream come true!  The skirt has the beautiful fullness and massive pockets of the Jenny skirt, but has a soft, comfy, and super stretchy velvet top attached to it.  The top portion isn't terribly thick but sturdy enough to keep you warm.  I don't know if you can tell but it was nearly pouring rain when I took these photos!  While I was annoyed with the weather, I was nice and warm in the Genevieve.  I'm almost always an XS in PUG clothing and the XS was perfect for me.  I would recommend taking your normal size in this dress.  I'm having a hard time deciding whether I want to wear this dress on Christmas or my very special Star Wars re-purposed bed sheet set.  I guess I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow to decide!

I hope everyone has the best holiday weekend!  This is the perfect time to reflect on and spend time with the people you love most in your life.  I can't wait to enjoy Christmas morning with my husband, Bianca, and my four fur babies.  I hope you have the opportunity to do the same!

White Christmas

Pinup Girl Clothing Pinup Couture Sabrina Top in Red Eshakti Plaid Circle Skirt Remix Rita Heels in Red

It's official: it's finally freaking cold over here!  While I may be out of my element, I'm very excited to break out the warm fabrics and cold weather accessories.  I felt like this was the perfect opportunity to wear some adorable gloves and this ridiculously warm fleece skirt from eShakti.  Read more about this (California) winter appropriate outfit below!

I've been wearing eShakti for quite some time but this skirt is definitely my favorite.  I love the wide waistband, huge side pockets, and the fact that I could customize the length.  While I chose the knee length option, it actually came to be much longer.  After I had it hemmed I completely fell in love!  Not only is this skirt super warm, it's also full enough to wear without a petticoat.  I'm hoping there will be more versions of this skirt in the future, I would definitely buy them all!

I've been obsessed with vintage pillbox hats lately.  My collection has grown substantially this year and I seriously can't get enough!  I got this tulle and satin hat from an online friend and I feel like it was made for this outfit.  It compliments the white in my skirt perfectly.  I can't wait to pair it with my Christmas outfit this year.  I'll make sure to post my outfit this weekend on my Instagram.

Do you have your holiday outfit planned already?  If so, what are you wearing?  Let me know in the comments below!

Vintage Inspired Glam With Besame Cosmetics

Happy Monday!  Can you believe Christmas will be here at the end of this week?  While I'm not necessarily prepared for the festivities ahead, I do have a game plan for my holiday look: vintage inspired glam.  I've teamed up with Besame Cosmetics to show you my favorite products for the look I've created below.  Enjoy!

Holiday Vintage Inspired Looks With Besame Cosmetics

Here's what you'll need:
Besame Cosmetics
  1. Brightening Setting Face Powder
  2. Classic Color Lipstick in Victory Red
  3. Boudoir Long Hair Finishing Powder Brush
  4. Masterliner Lip Contour Pencil in Cerise/Red Velvet
I love all of Besame's setting powders, but the vanilla version is best for my red, sometimes patchy skin.  After applying my foundation, I like to press this gently on my face to keep my skin toned and the shine at bay.  After all, you don't want to worry about reapplying your powder all through the night!  I like to finish with my long hair powder brush for perfect, even looking skin.

As for my lips, a classic red is perfect for vintage inspired glam.  I like to line with the Red Velvet masterliner and fill in with Besame's classic color lipstick (to get the steps on how to apply a perfect red lip, read my tutorial HERE).  I used Victory Red for this particular look, but I constantly switch between Cherry Red, American Beauty, and Besame Red as well.

Here's what I used to polish off this holiday look:
Holiday Party Set
  1. NicCoCo Creations Holiday Super Nova Hair Clip
  2. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Brush #12
  3. Unique Vintage Taupe Faux Fur Shoulder Stole
  4. Huda Beauty Faux Mink Lashes
  5. Unique Vintage Red Angora Bow Short Gloves
  6. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo
Of course, a statement brow and some lush lashes are the greatest way to deepen and intensify that vintage inspired look.  I accessorized my heat-set curls with a sparkly starburst hair clip and winterized my holiday dress with some gloves and a faux fur stole.  The smallest details can greatly impact the final product, so don't be scared to add an accessory or two!  Because I opted for the starburst hair clip as a statement piece, I decided to skip on the earrings.  But a beautiful pair of chandelier earrings without a hair clip would be gorgeous as well.

And there you have it!  What's your outfit/makeup plan for the holidays this year?  If you have any questions for me, please let me know in the comments below!

What's On My Radar: Current Loves

I can't get my mind off of two lingering things: gifts for my friends and family and holiday party wear for myself.  Because they're equally important, I've included some picks in both categories for this month's post.  Find a great outfit and/or a great gift for a loved one below!

Mischief Made Me
  1. Bottomes up!
  2. Cherry Hula
  3. Bubble Babies
  4. Buzz Buggy
  5. Biker Girl
  6. Martini Time
  7. Queen of the Jungle
  8. Penguins
Mischief Made Me has been a not-so-guilty pleasure of mine for quite some time.  I love their vintage inspired designs and the quality of the cotton is top notch!  That Bottomes Up shirt is definitely my next purchase... It might just be sitting in my cart right now!

Trashy Diva
  1. Lizzie Dress
  2. Candice Gwinn Hollywood Wrap
  3. Candice Gwinn 1940's Long Robe
  4. 40's Button Blouse
  5. Candice Gwinn Grace Coat Dress
Did anyone else completely swoon over Trashy Diva's Velvet collection?!  The long robe is my favorite piece without a doubt.  I'm also a huge fan of their entire outerwear section.  They have so many different kinds of pieces to complete your holiday look.  Whether you're looking for a wrap, cutaway overcoat, or full on coat; they have you covered!

Color Theory Shop
Color Theory Shop
  1. Alien Girl
  2. Black Cat
  3. Disco Boot
  4. Award Ribbon
  5. Rainbow Heart Eye
  6. Pastel Pink Palm Tree
Lisa, the lovely lady behind Color Theory Shop, is a pastel princess and her shop surely reflects it.  I love her taste in enamel pins.  They're simple yet eye-catching and always adorable.  They're the perfect stocking stuffer!

Bait Footwear
  1. From the Same Cloth Boot in Noir
  2. Shimmer On High Heel
  3. Paris, Prance Heel in Or
  4. Who Hearted Flat
  5. Panache From the Past Heel
  6. Bowed and Boating Heel in Noir
Modcloth, without a doubt, has the best selection of shoes.  This month I've picked my favorites from Bait Footwear.  Bait has a ton of great styles that coordinate perfectly with my vintage/vintage inspired wardrobe.  Plus, you can get them at a great price!  Everything is 40% off with code HAULIDAY!

Trixie Delicious
Trixie Delicious
  1. Love Bites Hand Painted China Plates
  2. Recycled Skull Vases
  3. Alligator Wine Coffee Pot
  4. Creep Loser Hand Painted Dinner Plates
Trixie Delicious has the greatest gifts on the planet for that BFF with a sense of humor.  While I've picked the PG-13 items for this post, there are tons of fun and even vulgar dishware for a truly unique gift.  Everything is so beautifully hand painted, you almost won't notice what's written on there!

Holiday Cheers

Heart of Haute Elizabeth Dress in Holiday Cheers Print Ava Adorable Enchanted Child Dress in Holiday Cheers Print

I guess it's no surprise that I couldn't wait to post these pictures.  Mommy and Me posts are always my favorite but taking these pictures can be so much work!  Luckily, Bianca has become much more tolerant in front of the camera with age.  She was also very excited to wear her new Christmas dress from Heart of Haute.  Not only did she like the dress itself, she wanted to match her mommy too!  You can get all the details on these adorable dresses below.

As always, everything from Heart of Haute is made with pride right here in the USA.  Both my Elizabeth and Bianca's Enchanted Child dresses are made from 100% cotton.  They're light, breathable, and perfect for any season (especially here in California).  This is the first Elizabeth dress in my closet and I'm quite sure it's my new favorite style.  It features a square neckline, adjustable crossover straps, pleated skirt, and a removable fabric tie at the waist.  I'm not usually a fan of side zip closures, but this dress was surprisingly easy to get on.  Thanks to this dress I've learned that cross straps + side zips = match made in heaven!  I'm usually between an extra small and small, but I chose a small to accommodate my bust.  I feel like I could have sized down but this size was still quite comfortable and figure flattering.  My favorite part?  The holiday cocktail trim!  I love the fun retro-inspired print, I can definitely see myself wearing this as the hostess of a holiday party.

Bianca's Enchanted Child dress features a gathered skirt, crossover back, and an attached red tie for the perfect fit.  Bianca normally wears a size 4T, but I chose a 5T so she could get more wear from it.  It's a bit large, but the attached tie made it easy to fit to her frame.  Unlike my dress, hers does not feature the holiday cocktail trim on the bottom (for obvious reasons!).  I love the way these dresses look together but I can see her wearing this one all year around!  Keep those eyes peeled on my Instagram on Christmas, I have a feeling they'll reappear then...

I've been chained to my home for the past three days because I finally decided to buckle down and potty train Bianca.  I was waiting for "signs of interest" but that day literally never came.  So I ordered a 3 Day Potty-training book and started the journey on Monday.  Let me tell you, that first day was the hardest day of my parenting lifetime!  I don't think I've ever felt so frustrated (although I didn't show it) and emotionally drained.  Today is the last day and I'm hoping this is the start to a diaper free relationship.  Keep those fingers crossed!

Wine Dots

Trashy Diva Lizzie Dress in Wine Dots print Remix Vintage Shoes It Girl Heel

Sometimes the stars align and you find an unexpected but perfect new dress.  I'm no stranger to Trashy Diva, I actually try to own at least one piece in every new collection that I like.  Spoiler alert: It's almost all of them.  I was over the moon to hear that they brought back the wine dots print in my all-time favorite fabric: Stretch rayon.  It's buttery soft, has a decent amount of stretch, and drapes like a dream.  They also used a bunch of great dress styles to highlight this collection.  Let me tell you, having to choose just one was ridiculously hard!  Read all about my decision, the Lizzie, and why I love it so much, below.

I actually purchased two dresses because I couldn't possibly decide without trying them on.  I went with the Lizzie and the Ashley.  While the Ashley was beautiful, I already own a few of them in different prints.  Plus, I had no idea how much I'd love the Lizzie.  This newer style (it was initially released in the black knit collection) features gathered half sleeves, a deep sweetheart neckline, full gathered skirt, and a full back zippered closure.  I'm not usually into plunging necklines but I had to make an exception!  It also has side pockets, which we all know is a definite win.  This dress is perfect for ladies with longer torsos like myself, which is comforting because I had a hard time finding something that worked for me in the Venice Nights collection (you can read about that HERE).  I can't even put into words how much I love this dress.  I have a feeling this will be the first of many Lizzie dresses to enter my wardrobe...

This week has been kind of a doozy for me.  I've been battling a cold, which I then passed off to Bianca.  Because she's had a hard time sleeping, I've had an even harder time sleeping!  I'm pretty sure I'm some kind of living zombie at this moment.  Anyone have any natural cold remedies to share?  This is the first time Bianca has been really sick and I'd love for her to get back to being a normal, crazy toddler!

Snow White

Vintage Inspired by Jackie Atomic Jax Keyhole Disney Bedsheet Dress

I'm no stranger to vintage dresses, but finding a well-preserved frock in your size within a decent price range is getting more and more difficult these days.  Jackie, the girl boss behind Atomic Jax, is merging vintage patterns with vintage bed sheets to create the perfect dress for every kid at heart.  This is my third custom piece from her (you can read about my Little Mermaid bed sheet dress HERE) and I couldn't be more excited to share her new keyhole dress today!  Read all about this made to order custom dress below; there might even be a coupon code down there too!

This keyhole dress comes in several Disney bed sheet prints, but this particular one is made from a pale yellow Snow White print.  Who had these exact sheets as a kid?!  It's fully lined in the bodice, so you feel completely supported in the dress alone.  As much as I tried to sneak in a bra/shapewear under there, I didn't need them!  It's rare when a mom feels totally supported without any undergarments, if you catch my drift.  The neckline of the dress is slightly off the shoulder and features a tie and a keyhole at the center.  Like my other bed sheet dress, this one features an interior double hook and eye waist stay (for that perfect nipped-in waist effect) and a full back zip.  This dress can easily slip on and off over my hips.  I'm dying to take this beauty to Disneyland... I'm pretty sure Snow White would want a keyhole dress of her own!  If you're looking to add one of Jackie's creations to your wardrobe, make sure to use the code "FALLSALE" for 20% off your entire order!  Make sure to act quickly though, this code is only good until Wednesday, December 7th!
