Paris Jenny

Pinup Girl Clothing Jenny dress in Paris print 001

Happy Sunday!  I've been enjoying these past few days by taking Bianca on mini road trips with me.  We went to a nearby lake and just happened to discover a zebra farm on the way there.  It was Bianca's first experience with any type of large animal and she loved it.  We also went on a few hikes together.  It's great for her to see all kinds of nature and doubles as exercise for me when I push her around in her stroller.  Getting her out also gets her really tired.  When your toddler refuses to nap daily you find ways to make it happen.

Favorite Etsy Shops

Much like many other people, I'm a huge fan of Etsy.  I love finding vintage and handmade goodies to add to my wardrobe.  It's also the perfect place to get a creative gift.  When it comes time to brainstorm for something original for a friend or family member, Etsy is always the first place I go.  I've decided to share a few of my favorite stores today.  Check them out below!

luxulite
I guess this doesn't come as a surprise considering I just hosted a giveaway with Luxulite.  I just can't help it, her handmade brooches are just so cute!  She's also just released an octopi brooch pair and her lobsters (my favorite) are currently available for preorder!

dethrose vintage
This Chicago based vintage shop has no shortage of beautiful garments.  From day dresses to beautiful 50's prom frocks, Dethrose Vintage appeals to my style without even knowing it!

aikawashima
Looking for a truly original gift?  Ai Kawashima is the most talented of artists and takes commissions for paintings!  I happened to have her paint Tommy, Kevin's favorite of our chihuahua crew, for Christmas this past year.  I'm hoping to have a canvas of every furry family member this year!

niccococreations

Nicolle isn't just a pretty face, she's a ridiculously talented hair flower crafter!  Her pieces are well constructed, original, and are designed to fit your face and look pretty when worn.  I have to enter her store with restraint, I can spend a whole paycheck there!

Pinup Doll Wardrobe
pinupdollwardrobe
Marta makes the most wonderful pinup style dresses in the prettiest fabrics.  Most of her dresses are made to order but she carries a few styles in a few sizes as well.  I could get lost in her beautiful dress shop!

albinohare
Lee Anna is responsible for the gorgeous "Meowmaid" brooch I wear, but she also has lots of other fun trinkets for you.  I really love these kitty earrings!  Keep your eyes peeled if you're looking for a Meowmaid as well, she releases them from time to time ;).

These are just a few of my favorite stores, I'm hoping to share more in the near future.  Do you have a favorite Etsy shop?  Let me know in the comments below!

xoxo

Red Lily

Karina Dresses Megan

This week is going to be a bit crazy for me and my family.  I'm going from one job to the next, which means I'll be in training for a few days.  We will also be celebrating my mom's birthday early because this weekend is going to be busier than what Kevin and I are used to.  Luckily, this is the last weekend of what I like to call "tag team parenting".  I think we're both counting the days until our family life returns to normalcy.  It's been a lot to take on at once but it's worth it!

Spring Has Sprung

Unique Vintage Vivien set

Bring on the floral prints and the pastel colors!  I love the excitement in the air when spring comes around.  Although I live in perpetual spring/summer weather, I can't help but join in on the enthusiasm.  Matching sets, especially when they're a crop top/skirt combo, are my warm weather staples.  This particular set is made with a soft satin and is extremely comfortable to wear.  The skirt has pockets and the top has removable straps so you can wear it as a halter or even a strapless top.  A girl can never have too many options!  I paired this set with my new Touchstone crystal Sea Glass necklace and matching Ice bracelet.  It's the perfect sparkly pair for spring!  I've come to realize that great things really come in twos.

What's On My Radar: Current Loves

Spring is always the perfect time to dust off those pastels and floral prints.  While I certainly do this every year, I've been trying to expand my horizons and keep some "winter" prints around during this season as well.  I usually work them into my nighttime outfits, when it's okay to wear darker colors (FYI it's always okay) but you have the luxury of ditching your top layers.  Here are this month's spring picks, which have been separated into day and night looks:

Day
Day outfit

spring day looks

Night

spring night looks

night spring looks

I like playing with fun prints in both my day and night looks.  The sexier silhouettes come out at night (mostly date night) but I still like to have fun with with cuts and prints.  How does your personal style change between seasons and time of day?

Harlequin

Pinup Girl Clothing Pinup Couture Jenny skirt in Harlequin Dixiefried Bustier top

Another day, another location adventure.  I've been taking advantage of the summer-like conditions to go out and explore the beautiful nature preserves in my town.  I'm no stranger to this particular area, one of my best friends was married here a few years ago.  I've also gone on countless field trips to the nature center as a child.  They had (and still have) a really fun animal show that also teaches you how to respect nature and the animals that live there.  I'm hoping to take Bianca when she's a little older.  She's already showing signs of being a crazy animal lady, just like her momma!

Pink Poodle

Bernie Dexter Beatrice dress in Pink Poodle print

I can't believe this is the first time I've featured this dress on my blog!  I've had it for awhile but I've been waiting for the weather to warm up enough to wear it without a cardigan.  I'm always hesitant about dresses with a shelf bust, probably because it's a little more of a risque neckline than I'm used to.  I feel like the pretty pink poodle print balances it out which is why it's still in my closet.  Even though it doesn't make sense, in my mind prints will always win over the cut!

Luxulite Cherry Brooch Giveaway!

Pinup Girl Clothing Neverland Jenny skirt Luxulite brooch

It's been awhile since I've done a giveaway and I wanted to make sure it was a good one!  Katy, the woman behind Luxulite, makes every 40's and 50's inspired piece by hand.  While I'm quite enamored with her brooches, she also makes earrings (even ones that match certain brooches) and necklaces.  She made this super sparkly cherry brooch just for me and I have a matching one for the very lucky gal who wins this giveaway.  Make sure to enter below!

Yellow Molly

Pinup Girl Clothing Molly dress

I've been having so much fun looking for locations to shoot my outfit posts.  I'm lucky that I live in a town with many parks and diverse terrains.  I really had no idea what was right outside my door until I started doing a little research.  This particular nature center was at the top of my list because the trails are a lush green and relatively inhabited.  Little did I know I'd be hiking up a huge hill to get there!  If you can imagine it, I pushed a large stroller with Bianca, her diaper bag, and my camera equipment in this outfit.  Thankfully, I didn't have to workout after I took these photos but I think I'll pack a pair of flats next time!

Suzy Meow

Voodoo Vixen Susie Meow dress

There was finally a day cool enough to wear this Voodoo Vixen dress/cape set.  While owning anything wool in southern California might not be the smartest thing, I couldn't pass up something this cute!  I love how it looks like actual vintage and the scalloped collar of the dress is unique.  I've never owned a cape before, but now I'm thinking I should add a camel colored one to my closet.  How did I go so long without ever trying a cape on?

Ikebana For All

Modcloth Ikebana For All skirt

I'm back at it again, showing you another spring inspired outfit from Modcloth!  This skirt has been on my wish list for years, but because I tend to wear more dresses, it's sat there all this time.  One of my personal style resolutions this year was to wear more separates.  Now is a better time than ever to stick to it!  In my mind, mixing prints (especially florals) is the perfect way to welcome spring.

Bella Donna

Pinup Girl Clothing Bella Donna dress in Italian landscape

I happened to snap these photos quickly between rain showers yesterday.  I hadn't really planned to take photos at all, but fate allowed me a few minutes before I had to get the heck out of there!  The curl in my hair died as soon as I set up my camera, but at least I got to document this gorgeous Venetian landscape printed dress.  They aren't my favorite batch of photos but I figure I'm probably my worst critic!

In the Spring of Things

As winter starts to disappear (at least here) I've been working on putting together my spring wardrobe.  As usual, I look for bright colors, floral prints, and pieces that can easily be worked into summer as well.  I've been shopping with Modcloth for as long as I can remember and I'm excited to collaborate with them by showing you my spring essentials!
