Hey, Sailor!

Bernie Dexter Jackie Dress Nautical Print 011

Yep, I'm that kind of mom.  I like to match our outfits... Pretty much all the time.  At this point in her life she doesn't have a preference (or a choice) so I'm taking advantage for as long as I can.  I've always been crazy for nautical prints and both of our closets are stuffed with them.  I wouldn't put you through it, but I could definitely start a matching mommy/baby series.  I think I'll just keep that craziness off the internets for now :).

Shoes- Sidecca
Bracelet- Forever 21
Bianca's outfit- Carter's

This dress is amazing.  I actually obtained it through a swap (thanks Rosaline!) and it's easily one of my favorite dresses.  I was a little hesitant at first, I don't wear too many things with collars or thick belts.  I'm glad I took the chance because I really like the look.  If I'm correct (I may not be) this particular Bernie is unique, I've never seen this style in any other print.  I'm just happy I can add this to my collection.  I know what I'm wearing for Fourth of July next year!

Kevin and I haven't had a baby free date in months!  It's most likely because I enjoy taking her everywhere, but I definitely feel like a date night is in order.  You don't realize it when you're immersed in the everyday routine of life, but it's really easy to feel disconnected with your partner.  He's been crazy busy at work and I have baby on the brain 24/7.  Much like any other relationship, it needs attention in order to grow and we've decided that one Bianca free night will help.  We were thinking the traditional dinner and a movie.  We haven't seen a movie since last year!  Anyone have any suggestions?

xoxo

Ashley

  3. Oh, you two are so cute- part of me wants to see that blog series now, though who knows if years later an older Bianca would appreciate it....

Sounds like a date night is in order, though it can be hard to find the time. Good luck- Guardians of the Galaxy is pretty funny, or I'd go see Boyhood if it is playing near you.

    1. Haha maybe I'll just Instagram a few of them.

I've been hearing good things about Boyhood, I'm definitely interested. Thanks for the suggestion!

  4. Loooove this dress on you, and you and Bianca are so adorable. I think you're right -- I've never seen another Bernie quite this same style, and I love the thick belt.

  5. I've always drooled over this Bernie dress. The amazing print aside, the silhouette of this dress alone is pretty spectacular! As for movie suggestions, I haven't seen many movies recently, but I did see Boyhood and I'd definitely recommend it (especially because you're a mom!)

    1. Thanks so much Amber! I didn't think I'd like it as much as I did when I actually put it on.

You're the second person to recommend Boyhood. I'm definitely intrigued!

  6. If and when I have a child I am definitely going to make it match me! Mother's prerogative ;) and it looks so adorable - Bianca clearly doesn't mind.

I'd say for date night leave the movies because who can spend quality time with someone when you're sitting in silence staring away from each other for 3 hours? A meal at a favourite restaurant is simple... Or push the boat out a little and go somewhere slightly upmarket and dress up for it - that's what I'd do, any excuse! x

    1. So true! Not much conversation happens when you're stuck in a movie. I will definitely be dressing up, I think that will be most exciting :).

  7. Bernie Dexter dresses look stunning on your body. Seriously. Are these made for you or what?! I think it's perfectly acceptable to dress yr kid like you because, I mean, once she can talk she will probably protest it.

    1. Thank you! That's probably why I've been hoarding them these last few months. I'm hoping she understands how cute the matching thing was when she was little. I'm getting it all in now :).

  8. You two are ADORABLE. I appreciate that you're matching without just wearing the same outfit - the mom of one of my friends as a tiny kid would do this, and she'd always end up looking like an overgrown toddler, which you most certainly do not!

I've been wanting to go to the movies, too, and there are a lot of things I want to see. "Begin Again" looks good, a little artsy and romantic, and "What If" looks super cute. My sister and I saw "Neighbors" recently and laughed hysterically - it's about a couple in their early 30s with a little baby girl, so that may be perfect for you guys, or it may hit too close to home! Anyway, have fun and enjoy the night out with your guy!

    1. Hahaha that is too funny! We definitely don't own the exact same outfit and now I know we never should.

I did hear that Neighbors was pretty funny. I want to see it!

  10. I would totally tune in for a matching mommy/baby series. No kids for me yet, but my boyfriend and I keep talking about it. I swear, every time I see a cute kid I think my ovaries explode. You guys both look lovely. Love your nautical print, and those shoes are divine. Your daughter, of course, is a sweet little smooshy faced cutie pie who makes me baby talk to my computer screen.

    1. Awww you are too sweet! I didn't actually want a baby until I was 28/29 so my husband and I didn't really talk about it until we were ready to try. I think I might post a few Instagram pictures of our matching outfits so stay tuned ;).

  11. You both look so adorable, if I have a daughter one day I am TOTALLY going to match our outfits, too! That Bernie is beautiful, and you look gorgeous in it as always. Glad to hear a much deserved date night is in order!
