Pregnancy: Week 38

Happy new year!  I hope you had a wonderful holiday season.  To be honest, I'm just so glad that it's over!  It's been a pretty rough two weeks and I'm just ready to have my baby already.  As of Sunday I'm officially off the contraction medication so I'm starting to feel those bigger ones.  While it isn't horrible, they definitely stop me in my tracks.  I'm also starting to be a little more active to I can jump start the labor.  There are plenty of old wives tales and remedies to start labor but nothing works better than being on your feet.

I am currently too big to wear about 90% of my dresses anymore.  It's a little depressing but I just keep reminding myself that this is only very temporary.  Once I give birth I'll be the size I was when I was about 5-6 months pregnant and I'm totally okay with that.  I also have a hard time putting on clothes in general.  Bending, twisting, and anything other than lying down takes way more energy than it should.  I definitely won't be taking it for granted in the future!

I went to my doctor on Monday and I'm about 2 cm dilated (sorry if this is TMI).  So I'm right on track for an on time delivery.  B is measuring fine, her heart rate is nice and steady, and she's staying in the head down position.  My right rib cage is probably internally bruised due to her constant kicks there, but as long as she's active I'll take the abuse haha!  I can now actually feel her foot through my skin.  It's the weirdest/coolest thing ever.  Every time I go to touch her foot she moves it away... What a little diva!

Like I said during my last update, I'm hoping his will be my last one!  I'm really scared of being overdue, only because I don't want her to get too big to deliver.  And I don't know how long I can keep being this uncomfortable all the time.  Keep your fingers crossed and those thoughts positive for me :)

xoxo

  2. 2 cm is great! I was 0 up until the last half hour of my first labor and up until the lst hour of my second! I WISH I naturally dilated! That's amazing. You have braxton hicks contractions, huh? Those are weird feeling!!! I felt like they rolled a weird pain from all around my back and belly. The labor contractions feel like major period cramps x5. haha. Hope you go into labor within the next two weeks!!! I gave birth at 41 weeks with my first and 39 weeks with my second. You might go very soon!

  16. Wow, these are lovely-what wonderful photos these will be to look back on and see how gorgeous you looked while pregnant! My sister just had a baby around Thanksgiving and we did a LOT of walking around the block with her to try and stimulate labor, haha. Unfortunately it didn't work and she went into labor at home of course-hoping for better luck for you and your little one! :)

  18. It must be very strange and difficult to go through that many body changes in such a short amount of time. Hang in there and care for yourself. You'll get through it all. =]

  19. Ah how weird that you could feel her foot! Weird and awesome. It sounds like everything's all set for her to come though! And don't worry too much about her being late. I was 2 weeks late and wasn't too big to be delivered naturally. (Though I can't imagine how uncomfortable my mom was!) I think it just depends on the baby/family genetics. I hope she comes soon though! You can do it!

  20. Oh Ashley, I am SO excited for you and your husband! I have loved watching you grow through your pregnancy and can't believe it's nearly the end. You have honestly been the most beautiful pregnant woman-- you have such a glow about you. I know that you'll be back to your regular size in no time. Thinking about you and baby B as the time grows nearer! x

  21. It's crazy that you're literally thisclose to being a mom!!! :)

The end of pregnancy does sounds incredibly tough, but time flies and soon enough you'll be holding her. I'm so excited for you!
