The Sweetest Escape

birdskirt8

Well, it's back to real life today.  While most people enjoyed a four day weekend, I had to work on both the 4th and the 5th.  I was initially pretty bitter about it, but I actually had a really good weekend... even if it was the standard Saturday and Sunday.

On Friday night Erica and I had the chance to meet up with Katrina and her road trip buddy, Ines.  They had been trekking down the California coast and we were lucky enough to have dinner with them at Umami Burger.  I love meeting up with other bloggers, especially ones who I follow and I'm constantly inspired by.  Katrina was super sweet and even bought my baby a cute little gift.  How sweet is that?

Top- Marshall's
Skirt- Threadsence (remixed)
Shoes- H&M
Bag- Ruche
Sunglasses- House of Harlow 1960
Necklace- Forever 21
Chihuahua- Mine!

All I have to say is, thank heavens for skirts with an elastic waist!  Like I've been saying all along, I'm trying my hardest to play with my own wardrobe for as long as I can.  I've done a little bit of maternity clothes browsing but nothing has even slightly impressed me.  ASOS has some great pieces but I'm pretty stumped beyond that (I'm open for suggestions!).  I've always loved this skirt and I'm glad that it has enough stretch for about two more of me.

Next week is yet another doctor's appointment.  I'm hoping I get to find out the sex (fingers crossed!) but it may not happen just yet.  I actually booked an appointment at a 3D ultrasound facility the very next week just in case my doctor can't tell.  I don't think I need to stress how anxious I am to find out what we're having!

I hope you have a great start to the week!

xoxo

Ashley

  5. I LOVE your hair in braids like this! I can never do it because my hair is layered and i get teeny bits sticking out all over the place. ughhh it's the worst :(

Thanks again for hanging out! Hopefully we'll get to hang out again soon. Makes me wish I actually lived in LA closer to the two of you.

p.s. you're doing a really amazing job working with your existing wardrobe through the pregnancy!

  6. Super cute! I love elastic waists haha. I've managed to find some cute maternity dresses at my thrift store. I'm kinda stumped at where you go shopping for it because I've seen how not cute most of it is D: Maybe some DIY projects?! Have a good day! :D

  10. Sorry about your standard only weekend. My boyfriend works at the dialysis center in the hospital as an RN/runs the dialysis machines, so he has dumb days off as well. And works every holiday, I swear!

That's cool that you meet up with other bloggers. I've been blogging about 2 years and I've never seen another blogger in real life!

I can't really relate to a pregnancy wardrobe, but good luck! Also, good luck at your doctor appointment :)

Also, how do you do that braid thing!? I've seen it everywhere and I'm baffled by it.

  18. I don't think I've ever seen your hair up like that before; it's cute!

I didn't have to work on the 4th but I did have to come back for the 5th and then trot off into the weekend. It was pretty annoying to have to come back that one day because parents really, really, really can't stand to have their toddler for four days in a row. Or something like that.

Hang onto your clothes as long as you can! My sister hated her maternity clothes. Not that I'm trying to freak you out or anything. :P

  19. Great hairdo!
And yeah, yay for elastic waist! This type of skirt was my favorite when I had weight problems and I can imagine they are perfect for pregnancy.

  20. I'm excited to find out what you're having too! I think with your belly growing and all, you should live in long flowy skirts and dresses. No need for ACTUAL maternity clothes right? Just do high waists!

  32. Ooh, this top is from Marshall's? I'm in love! Such a great basic. And of course, this skirt is adorable. I love how you're playing with your clothes to fit a maternity style, I think you're doing a great job so far. You should look at the Ruche blog of how Mai (the owner) dressed when she was pregnant not that long ago, I think she documented her style the whole way and was adorable!

Also, Umami burger is the best. I've only been to the Anaheim one, but I love it. And yes, meet-up ASAP! What about next weekend or the weekend after?

  33. I'm excited to find out if it's a boy or girl too!

Also hooray for elastic waistbands! This skirt is just so cute. This whole outfit is, actually! Your hair looks adorable like this too.

  35. A blogger meet-up does sound so fun! Also, hope the doctor's visit goes great!

As for this outfit- I really like it, but what struck me the most, was your hair- very cute in heidi braids (but not something I've seen you do before?) , and the big oversized bag! We don't often see your bags, so that was fun too.

  36. aww you dont even look preggos here at all. i love the loose fit of it on you & the braids are so cute! now i realize you always have your hair up so this was fun to see. sounds awesome getting to meet up w/ other bloggers. for maternity clothes, i dont know if it'll stretch your stuff too much, but I loved that Marisa seemed to wear a lot of her things throughout her pregnancy just w/ a little diff twist like no belt, dress as a top, etc. Or I'd say get a size bigger at secondhand stores? it always seems like a pity to buy so many new things you'll hardly use again and maternity stuff can often be really big it seems.
