Sail Away

stripes1

Here is another installment of my casual dressing series.  Okay, I'm not doing a series, but I'm trying to show you more of my casual side.  I don't actually have a casual side either but I've told myself I need to expand my narrow fashion niche.  I've always loved dressing with a nautical flair so it was very natural putting this outfit together.  I could actually be comfortable with this change of pace!

I'm kind of bummed, but I think I'm going to back to a brunette soon.  It's not that I don't love the red (I really, really do), but I was thinking about going back to my natural color.  I think it's in the middle of dark blonde and light brown, but I guess we will have to see!  It may sound weird, but I just want to prepare myself for the days when I won't be able to color my hair.  All these restrictions with pregnancy are kind of scary so I want to ease myself into it.  FYI: I am not pregnant yet, but nine months of no hair coloring, nail painting, sushi eating, coffee drinking, and a whole new way of wearing my clothes is just a little bit scary to take in all at once!

  1. You look so cute in stripes!

Hmm, I hadn't thought about all those restrictions (have people started asking you when you'll be having kids yet?) No sushi would be very sad.

  5. I think you're doing this right. Otherwise it will feel like you've been cut off from the real you. It's funny because the first thing I noticed in your photos was the red hair.

  6. This outfit is really cute and simple! Totally something I would put together. I didn't know you're not allowed to wear nail polish when you are pregnant!! That would probably be the most difficult thing for me to do haha...good thing I'm no where near worrying about that kind of stuff though! Also it's funny that you want to go back to being a brunette...I've always wanted to dye my hair red but just can't gather the courage to do that right now.

  11. I love this outfit (like all of 'em) and I can't wait to see your hair. I like having hair closer to my natural color, it allows me to save more money. I assume you are thinking about having a child very soon?!

  17. I think brown will look good on you. I like it in your profile photo (: Your new lens is absolutely perfect! I love the quality of your photos and of course your lovely outfit. It's kind of sailor-chic with the navy, white, and red. So cute! I'm looking for a DSLR now, so I was wondering, what kind of camera do you have and did you use the 50mm f/1.8 lens for these photos?

  18. This nautical look is so pretty, I LOVE your bright red skirt and the stripe top :) And I can't wait to see what color hair you decide to do next, you seriously look amazing in every hair color. (even though I do love the red hair you have now!)

  19. I absolutely love this outfit! You look great. I am working on dying my hair back to it's natural colors (I've been dying it black for a year but my natural color is a medium brown).

  24. I know what you mean! I used to have red peekaboo highlights that were so cute - but once I became pregs with my son, I gave it up - even though people were saying it wasn't a big deal. Now I'm just lazy about the upkeep with it, so I haven't gone back.

Anyhow, I love the nautical look on you - so classic! I can't wait till it warms up a bit here and I can break out my nautical wear :-)

  29. Aw. I used to love having red hair all the time, myself but I have been enjoying brunette these days. I spent 10 years as a redhead (and my brothers are natural ones, so it always worked for me). You look great no matter what hair color you have. This outfit is beautiful!
