Changes

Dress- Toggery c/o Swirl
Tights- H&M
Heels- Steve Madden
Clutch- Betsey Johnson
Necklace- Forever 21

I was actually much more interested in staying in pajamas today (fighting off a terrible cold at the moment) but I felt the need to show you my new hair... Or lack thereof!  My long hair is now gone and I've traded it for some pretty awesome ombre.  My hairstylist Matt is a genius!  While I miss hiding behind my mounds of hair, I think this is a nice change.
I love this dress so much.  It's ridiculously comfortable and really easy to accessorize.  I went with gold accents and my purple platform heels to help the outfit stand out.  Since the dress is shorter and I'm not one to show much of a bare leg, I added my staple black tights for peace of mind and warmth.  What do you think?

Hope you are enjoying a lovely weekend!  I'll be home snuggling with my chihuahuas and nursing myself back to health :)

Makeup How To: Turning your unwanted makeup shades into new ones!

It happens to everyone.  You buy a lipstick shade thinking it's going to look fantastic... And then it doesn't.  It looks horrible and probably ends up in the makeup graveyard (I have one).  I'm not one to return used makeup (buyer beware on my part) and I'd rather not waste it so I've come up with a way to blend different lipsticks so get use of them all: The good, bad, and ugly.

Here are two examples I'm going to show you with three different products:

#1- Covergirl Lip Perfection in Temptation.  I thought an orange hue would look nice on me.  Thought.
#2-  Urban Decay Super Saturated Lip Color in Crush.  I don't know how much I can blog about how much I love this line, but the Crush color can sometimes be too vibrant for certain events.
#3- Kat Von D Painted Love Lipstick in Agatha.  I absolutely hated this lipstick because it in no way moisturized my lips.  It would have looked lovely if it didn't make my lips look chapped.

Okay, so the first example is the Covergirl hue.  I feel like it made me look washed out.  Here is evidence:

I then added the Kat Von D on top and here are the results:

I like this color much better!  It still has a coral color without making me look pale.

So my second example is taking a color I very much love but muting it down for a more everyday wear.  Here is the Urban Decay color alone:

And here it is with the Kat Von D color applied on top:

While this color is still vibrant, it can be used for any occasion.

There you have it!  I've turned my makeup mistakes into everyday wear.  They way you choose to blend your lip colors together is totally up to you.  Some like to mix it together before applying, I like to put the base on first and then add the lighter color on top.  Both ways work great and this little trick will either minimize or completely eliminate your makeup graveyard.

What kind of makeup tricks are you using this season?

Barbie Pink

Top- Forever 21
Skirt- Forever 21 (old)
Tights- H&M
Shoes- Qupid
Ring- Forever 21
Clutch- Unknown

I guess it's no surprise that I love pink.  While I may not wear pink clothing too often, I almost always have pink lip gloss on.  When I'm feeling extra daring (like today) I like to wear something more vibrant.  This lip color was actually muted with a nude lipstick to make it less "neon".  I actually liked the outcome!  It reminds me of Barbie, although I do not relate to her in any other way.  She did have great clothes though....

Do you like to mix and match your makeup?  I like to mix lip colors, blushes, eyeshadow, you name it!  I'm thinking I may do another makeup tutorial about that in the near future.  But until then, you get to see my super frugal outfit here.  I spent less than one hundred dollars on everything!  I'm pretty proud of that :)

Apologies

This week has been kind of crazy!  I apologize for not updating my blog, but I did want to show you a quick picture of my straight hair.  I never wear it this way because I'm pretty attached to my curling iron, so I figured I'd post it now (you'll probably never see it this way again).  Hope you're enjoying the rest of your weekend and I promise I'll have some posts this coming week!

Vintage Inspired Wedding

If you don't shop at Ruche, you may want to start!  Not only do they have amazing clothes and accessories, they just launched a bridal collection today.  It's an affordable line of bridal and bridesmaids dresses, accessories, shoes, and so forth.  Their lookbook is gorgeous and it reminds me of what my dream wedding would be like: elegant and demure.  Here are some of my favorite pictures.

I'm guessing this bridal line is going to sell out pretty quickly, so I would check it out soon :).  What would your dream wedding look like?

Baby Blues

 Top- Zara
Pants- H&M
Heels- Steve Madden
Necklace- Gift
Ring- Forever 21

I don't know about you, but I'm pretty excited about Mad Men starting up next week (I need some more Don Draper in my life!).  I guess I've been inspired by 60's fashion lately because I the minute I saw these pants I knew they were mine.  I love the high waist and the structure, and the color is amazing!  Perfect for the spring season.  Winter seems to be in full swing over here.  While the sun has finally peaked out, the bitter cold remains.  Definitely not used to this "I need a jacket" kind of weather!

I've been looking for some Mad Men inspired dresses... Have any suggestions?

Military Chic

Military peacoat- Betsey Johnson circa 2009
Dress- Urban Outfitters
Tights- Betsey Johnson
Heels- Betsey Johnson
Sunglasses- House of Harlow
Ring- Forever 21

I didn't realize until recently that I haven't photographed much of my Betsey Johnson pieces.  If I'm a collector of anything, it would be cute chihuahuas and Betsey Johnson clothing.  I feel like every piece I buy is a work of art (which is how I justify the price in my head).  I love this military style peacoat so much!  I love the structure and the feminine pleats in the back.  I don't get to wear it much, but this crazy rain this weekend has allowed me to showcase it :)

Hope you have a great St. Patrick's Day!

xoxo
